Crawl Diagnostics Report Lacks Information

When I look at the crawl diagnostics, SEOMoz tells me there are 404 errors.
This is understandable, because some pages were removed.
What this report doesn't tell me is how those pages were discovered.
This is a very important piece of information, because it would tell me there are links pointing to those pages, either internal or external. I believe the internal links have been removed.
If the report told me how if found the link, I would be able to take immediate action. Without that information, I have to go so a lot of investigation. And when you have a million pages, that isn't easy.
Some possibilities:
- The crawler remembered the page from the previous crawl.
- There was a link from an index page - i.e. it is in the database still
- There was an individual link from another story - so now there are broken links
- Ditto, but it in on a static index page
- The link was from an external source - I need to make a redirect
Am I missing something, or is this a feature the SEO Moz crawler doesn't have yet?
What can I do (other than check all my pages) to discover this?

I think it's the SEOMoz crawler, but what I have found is that the error reports are limited here whereas GWT is much bigger and shows the links leading to the error. My guess is that SEOMoz limit the number of crawl errors they show due to limitations set on their crawler i.e. while their crawl is comprehensive, it's not going to capture what Google does.

Yes, had it for years. So is this a GWT report? I thought it was SEOMoz !

If you download the csv file for the crawl you can sort it by http status to get all of the 404 errors together. Then there is a specific column that contains the referrer that provides the information you are after.

This may be a silly question, but have you got Google Webmaster tools installed? That will show you the source of the errors.
If your site is on IIS then you should also use the awesome IIS SEO toolkit provided by Microsoft for free.

Why does Crawl Diagnostics report this as duplicate content?
Hi guys, we've been addressing a duplicate content problem on our site over the past few weeks. Lately, we've implemented rel canonical tags in various parts of our ecommerce store, over time, and observing the effects by both tracking changes in SEOMoz and Websmater tools. Although our duplicate content errors are definitely decreasing, I can't help but wonder why some URLs are still being flagged with duplicate content by our SEOmoz crawler. Here's an example, taken directly from our Crawl Diagnostics Report: URL with 4 Duplicate Content errors:

Crawl Disgnosis only crawling 250 pages not 10,000
My crawl diagnosis has suddenly dropped from 10,000 pages to just 250. I've been tracking and working on an ecommerce website with 102,000 pages (www.heatingreplacementparts.co.uk) and the history for this was showing some great improvements. Suddenly the CD report today is showing only 250 pages! What has happened? Not only is this frustrating to work with as I was chipping away at the errors and warnings, but also my graphs for reporting to my client are now all screwed up. I have a pro plan and nothing has (or should have!) changed.

SEOmoz PRO Custom Reports Issues
This post is for all PRO members, On January 2, 2012, we found a serious bug in our custom reporting system that made it possible for some of our customers to see other customers’ custom reports. This affected less than 1% of our customers in total (.6 % to be exact). Fewer than 100 reports could potentially be viewed by another customer. We are taking this matter very seriously. 98 accounts were affected and we will be contacting those people individually via their account email addresses. If you do not receive an email from us, don’t worry - you were not affected. Soon after we discovered the problem, we completely turned off access to these reports; even though people may have been provided access previously, the access was limited to a short time period. They no longer have access to the reports whatsoever. The issue has now been resolved and all reports moving forward are functioning properly. Colors in keyword Difficulty Report
Hi Everyone Two quick questions today 1. How can I find out hat the different colors within the keyword Difficulty Report represent and how can I see examples of how this information can help us with our data analysis? 2. The second question I have is regarding the Term Extractor. Seems when I ran a domain it provided the wrong data. For example, it stated that a certain keyword exists certain number of times within the description and title of the page but when I looked at the source this was not the case so it made studying the competition harder.

How to crawl the whole domain?
Hi, I have a website an e-commerce website with more than 4.600 products. I expect that Seomoz scan check all url's. I don't know why this doesn't happens. The Campaign name is Artigos para festa and should scan the whole domain festaexpress.com. But it crels only 100 pages I even tried to create a new campaign named Festa Express - Root Domain to check if it scans but had the same problem it crawled only 199 pages. Hope to have a solution. Unsubscribe to weekly crawl notifications never works
Hello! All of my campaigns have the box 'Weekly crawl completed for campaign ...' unticked under Campaign Settings, yet for all of them I still receive an email regularly with the subject 'New crawl completed for ...'. How do I stop this? Is there a bug here? Adam Bishop
