SEOmoz not displaying correct amount of links?
-
When I go to the link analysis page where ti shows how many links my site has and how many my competitors have...it shows that I have 0 links. But Google Webmaster Tools shows my site as having 149 links. Is this a glitch with zeomoz or whats going on? The reason I initially subscribed to seomoz was to track my links.
Thanks

Hi Tarik,
Unfortunately, no one tool can track all your links. Open Site Explorer is the best tool on the market (in my opinion) for backlink research, but Google Webmaster will almost always show you more.
The problem with Webmaster tools is it often shows you "junk" links, links that pass no value, and it leaves out many of the links that count. It leaves a lot to be desired in terms of finding actionable insights into your incoming link profile.
The advantages of Open Site Explorer are two-fold. 1. SEOmoz tends to show you the links that pass value, filtering out most of the "junk" that Google doesn't count anyway, and 2. SEOmoz attaches metrics to the URLs of the linking pages and domains (DomainAuthority, MozTrust, Etc) so you better understand the value of your backlinks and those of your competitors.
That said, SEOmoz isn't the only game in town. Majestic does a fair job of reporting links, and you'll often find links there you can't find in other places. My tool of choice is SEOmoz, because of the accuracy of the Index and the associated metrics. In the end, you'll have to discover the solution that works best for you.

OpenSiteExplorer crawls a portion of the web, then processes what it crawls, then updates on about a monthly basis. It can be up to two months for your links to show, and sometimes not all of the links show. The next update is on February 29th.
OSE won't show you every link you have, but neither does Google. OSE does offer you a lot of valuable metrics and insights into links and domains that Google does not.

OSE is not perfect, but it is a gauge I use for competitor analysis. My sites have much less links in OSE compared to GWT. Compare the smartness of GoogleBot with RogerBot. When GoogleBot get to an ecommerce website, somehow it grabs the product listed on your HTML sitemap and inserts it into the search box. I heard Matt Cutts say that. Imagine them doing that with WordPress and every other CMS that has a search field? RogerBot isn't as smart.

SeoMoz is a bit behind GWT, especially for smaller sites. GWT is a more accurate measure of your backlinks.

Competitive Link Analysis not showing links.
Hate asking such a vague question, but my SEOMoz link analysis report is not showing any backlinks for a client of mine. I loaded the information the same way I did my other clients, which show all links. www.domain.com is being forwarded properly to domain.com. I know there are backlinks because I put many of them there myself over the last couple of months. Clearly this is affecting my Moz score. Not sure how to troubleshoot this. Can anyone offer suggestions? Grazie mille! Regards, Dino

Sharing/Transferring SEOMOZ campaigns
What happens when you are no longer working on a campaign, and your client needs the campaign history? I don't pay for my account, my employer does. If I ever have to move on what should I do with the account? I would want to keep my seomoz profile and Q&A history. But the campaigns belong to my employer so I would have to change all of the profile settings into his name… Is there a protocol for this kind of situation?

Can I combine SEOmoz Campaigns.
Basically I am in internal SEO. We subscribe to SEOmoz and we have 5 campaign spots. each with their own allocation of keywords. Ideally I only want to track our site and not 4 other's. I've currently setup the campaign a couple of times with different keywords, but it would be much better if I could choose what allocates to what. I.e. 2 campaign tokens to one site and 3 to another or just 5 to one site. Is this possible, and if not why not?

Why are SEOmoz Pro Keyword Ranking reports different between two 301-linked URLs?
Hi, My main domain is www.dancenut.com. I have this 301 URL redirected to www.dancenut.com/boston/. I set up an SEOmoz Pro campaign for each of these URLs in order to see if they were being treated differently in any way. In most cases the report results are identical, or the small differences are understandable. However, there is one big difference between the two sets of campaign reports. In the Keyword Ranking reports, the data for the Bing and Yahoo! reports are identical, but the data for the Google reports are dramatically different. Out of 21 keywords, 9 are listed in the top 50 for www.dancenut.com, but only 2 are listed in the top 50 for www.dancenut.com/boston/ (the specific positions are the same for the 2 keywords that are listed for both). Does this make any sense? Could the SEOmoz Pro data be wrong? If not, then I'm suspicious that Google may not be interpreting the 301 redirect properly. I don't think this could be fully explained by a 1-10% reduction in link juice due to the 301 because I have one keyword for which my site ranks #1 in Google, Bing, and Yahoo! with www.dancenut.com, but it doesn't even rank in the top 50 in Google with www.dancenut.com/boston/. And why would these differences only exist for Google? Any insight would be much appreciated! Andrew

SEOMOZ Competitive Domain Analysis
Hi, I am just trying to get to the bottom of why I am seeing such wildly different figures in the SEOMOZ link analysis. The SEO company that we use is saying that we have around 331 external links to our website, when I check on Yahoo site explorer, it returns 264 external links, but in my SEOMOZ campaign manager, it says I have 4 external links? I fully appreciate that none of these methods are going to be wholly accurate, and are going to produce different results, but I can't understand why the SEOMOZ results are so vastly different. I also know for a fact there are a number of Followed links that I have added to a couple of websites, that Google has now indexed (as they appear in search results), but don't appear in the campaign manager results. If SEOMOZ use a different method to assess an external link, then no problem - my main concern here is that as a Newbie I am doing something wrong within the SEOMOZ tools, and don't want to take action based on results that may be incorrect because I have set things up incorrectly? Any help is greatly appreciated. Many thanks, Gareth

Which would you chose? Link on PA56 with 88 OBL's and 80 IBL's or a link on a PA75 with 225 OBL's & 40 IBL (Same Domain)
Which would you chose? Link on PA56 with 88 OBL's and 80 IBL's or a link on a PA75 with 225 OBL's & 40 IBL (Same Domain) Pretty self explanatory. I want to know what metrics SEOMozzers rely on most. If you are not an expert at evaluating links for large scale development please don't muddy the waters on this question with a thin and vague answer.
