Does PR actual mean anything?
-
My website is really ranking well, even product pages have a PR of 4.
I ran the keyword analysis tool for the product page in question (which has a PR of 4) with the targeted keyword for the page which is currently ranking 8th (not so good) the keywords analysis tool give me some data back with the page authority being 1 and it also mentions that it has 0 page link root domains, however I know this is not true.
I expected the page authority in seomoz to be higher than 1 due to it having a PR of 4, so how valuable is PR? does it even matter? Another thing I noticed is that the website above my listing have PR of 1 and 2.
Looking forward to some feedback

Hi Alan,
It's not really about converting money with these articles, it's about having good content on our own company blog, which we can use for SEO purposes, email marketing and so on... Initially I was thinking that i could backlink from this website with all these articles into the commercial website, although how much value would this website give the commercial website having hundreds of different backlinks to different product pages throughout the website?
Kind Regards
-
Yes they would, you still need to move the page. but i would be thinking if the page is going to convert to money, its opne thing to get people to your site, it is another to get them to buy.
Are the articles relevant
-
Strange! I have nothing. Anyway, I have this article placed here: example.com/123.html which is ranking really well for a particular keyword, however I want to move the article to another domain website.com/123.html Would it be ok just to do a 301 redirect on this? Would Google index the new URL in the SERP?
Not sure if it's a bit spammy or not?
Eddie

Yes but i cant seem to reply, i sent you a new message
-
Thanks Alan, very helpful.
Oh! did you get my PM yesterday?
Thanks
-
The pages in question recently just jumped from 2 to 4, some of my competitors for the keyword in question went from 1 to 2, however still the page authority is higher, this maybe due to the ranking analysis not been updated? does anyone know how often this is updated?
Thanks
-
Hi Alan,
Yes, this could be a possibility that it is still showing 0 root domains.
Thanks
-
I would also add that PR is not updated frequently (it takes sometimes months to be). So maybe you do not have a PR4 anymore or your competitors have actually a higher PR that what is shown.
At the end of the day I would trust mR and mT more than PR to give you a better indication of a page importance.
-
If it shows 0 root domains, it could mean many things.
-
Those links were not in place, the last time the link check was done
-
If they were in place, it doesn't know about them
There is always a lag, no matter how good the links are.
PR has nothing to do with relevance for keywords.
PR just gives you a warm fuzzy feeling (or not)
-
-
PR is not the same as authority, PR is a measure of link popularity, but not relevance or trust. or any other metric.
Here is a simple explaination of pr and how it works

Discrepancy in actual indexed pages vs search console
Hi support, I checked my search console. It said that 8344 pages from www.printcious.com/au/sitemap.xml are indexed by google. however, if i search for site:www.printcious.com/au it only returned me 79 results. See http://imgur.com/a/FUOY2 https://www.google.com/search?num=100&safe=off&biw=1366&bih=638&q=site%3Awww.printcious.com%2Fau&oq=site%3Awww.printcious.com%2Fau&gs_l=serp.3...109843.110225.0.110430.4.4.0.0.0.0.102.275.1j2.3.0....0...1c.1.64.serp..1.0.0.htlbSGrS8p8 Could you please advise why there is discrepancy? Thanks.

Google Listing Brand Name as Page Title rather than actual set Title
Any search result including our website is displaying our search result title like this: "Brand Name: Partial Page Title" instead of what it should be "Page Title" (as an example). Where is the "Brand Name:" coming from? We've verified we don't have any code that could cause this, and we're blocking in robots.txt directory listings being used for our search result title/meta. This isn't happening for our competitors. Any ideas on why this is, and if it's something we can control?

Are keyword focused pages actually hurting me?
Is the practice of having keyword focused pages a thing of the past? Here is what I am seeing. My biggest competitor ranks #1 or #2 in most of my relevant keyword phrases (about 20 that I consider most important). They DO NOT have keyword focused pages. They have a PA of 42.5 and a DA of 33.8. They have 72 root domains that link to them. Their home page is fairly lite for content. Only 1 paragraph of text really... and a few reviews local to their page (not TA or anything). Socially, we we have the same FB following... but I also have blog, G+, twitter, pinterest, flickr, instagram, youtube, and linkedin. My keyword pages will rank #8 or #9. My home page hardly ever ranks. My home page has a PA of 40.3 and a DA of 29.1. I have 60 root domains that link to me. BUT... my keyword pages fall much lower. For instance, one has a PA of 16.1 and only 1 root domain link. So, my question is... are my keyword pages actually hurting me? Meaning... is google seeing my keyword page as more relevant content wise (because they are perfect for keyword placement, % of keyword to text, etc), but they rank them lower because of PA and back-links? Should I take down my keyword focused pages (one at a time maybe???) and work on building my home page?

How do i actually use the canonicalization rule for Apache?
Hi Guys, Moz is reporting lots of duplicate content on my site. I think this is partly from session id's and partly from category pages and on-site search generated pages. I know I have to use the canonicalization rule but don't know exactly how to determine the correct URL and where to put the code. Can anyone offer any advice on this? I'm new to this so apologies for any etiquette breaching etc. Many thanks, Stewart.

Does PR/linkjuice get transfered from directory->subdirectory?
If website.com links to website.com/utilities Does website.com/utilities/business.html pagerank get benefited from this? The reason I ask is, I have the option to have: 1) website.com/utilities/business.html or 2) website.com/utilities-business My boss says would like to keep the first example and link directory to subdirectory --> File. I prefer the second example because the potential traffic in it is a source of revenue and I want it to get linkpower from homepage directly. So, unless linkjuice is transfered horizontally across subdirectories, 2) would be better SEO-wise, is this correct? Thanks a lot.

Implications of hosting country versus actual trading country?
Unbeknown to me our web developers have hosted our UK e-commerce site (and only serving the UK & outer islands) on a US based server. Can this impact our SEO efforts? My further concern is when it comes to sending out emails and opt-in regulations - I am right to be concerned about this as well?
