Does PR actual mean anything?
-
My website is really ranking well, even product pages have a PR of 4.
I ran the keyword analysis tool for the product page in question (which has a PR of 4) with the targeted keyword for the page which is currently ranking 8th (not so good) the keywords analysis tool give me some data back with the page authority being 1 and it also mentions that it has 0 page link root domains, however I know this is not true.
I expected the page authority in seomoz to be higher than 1 due to it having a PR of 4, so how valuable is PR? does it even matter? Another thing I noticed is that the website above my listing have PR of 1 and 2.
Looking forward to some feedback

Hi Alan,
It's not really about converting money with these articles, it's about having good content on our own company blog, which we can use for SEO purposes, email marketing and so on... Initially I was thinking that i could backlink from this website with all these articles into the commercial website, although how much value would this website give the commercial website having hundreds of different backlinks to different product pages throughout the website?
Kind Regards
-
Yes they would, you still need to move the page. but i would be thinking if the page is going to convert to money, its opne thing to get people to your site, it is another to get them to buy.
Are the articles relevant
-
Strange! I have nothing. Anyway, I have this article placed here: example.com/123.html which is ranking really well for a particular keyword, however I want to move the article to another domain website.com/123.html Would it be ok just to do a 301 redirect on this? Would Google index the new URL in the SERP?
Not sure if it's a bit spammy or not?
Eddie
-
Yes but i cant seem to reply, i sent you a new message
-
Thanks Alan, very helpful.
Oh! did you get my PM yesterday?
Thanks
-
The pages in question recently just jumped from 2 to 4, some of my competitors for the keyword in question went from 1 to 2, however still the page authority is higher, this maybe due to the ranking analysis not been updated? does anyone know how often this is updated?
Thanks
-
Hi Alan,
Yes, this could be a possibility that it is still showing 0 root domains.
Thanks
-
I would also add that PR is not updated frequently (it takes sometimes months to be). So maybe you do not have a PR4 anymore or your competitors have actually a higher PR that what is shown.
At the end of the day I would trust mR and mT more than PR to give you a better indication of a page importance.
-
If it shows 0 root domains, it could mean many things.
-
Those links were not in place, the last time the link check was done
-
If they were in place, it doesn't know about them
There is always a lag, no matter how good the links are.
PR has nothing to do with relevance for keywords.
PR just gives you a warm fuzzy feeling (or not)
-
-
PR is not the same as authority, PR is a measure of link popularity, but not relevance or trust. or any other metric.
Here is a simple explaination of pr and how it works

Google Search Console and User-declared canonical is actually Hreflang tag
Hey, We recently launched a US version of UK based ecommerce website on the us.example.com subdomain. Both websites are on Shopify so canonical tags are handled automatically and we have implemented Hreflang tags across both websites. Suddenly our rankings in the UK have dropped and after looking in search console for the UK site ive found that a lot of pages are now no longer indexed in Google because the User-declared canonical is the Hreflang tag for the US URL. Below is an example https://www.example.com/products/pac-man-arcade-cabinet - is the product page is the canonical tag rel="alternate" href="https://www.example.com/products/pac-man-arcade-cabinet" hreflang="en-gb" /> - UK hreflang tag rel="alternate" href="https://us.example.com/products/pac-man-arcade-cabinet" hreflang="en-us" /> - US Hreflang tag then in Google search console the user-defined canonical is https://us.example.com/products/pac-man-arcade-cabinet but it should be https://www.example.com/products/pac-man-arcade-cabinet The UK website has been assigned to target the United Kingdom in Search Console and the US website has been assigned to target the United States. We also do not have access to robots.txt file unfortunately. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Why are only PDFs on my client's site being indexed, and not actual pages?
My client has recently built a new site (we did not build this), which is a subdomain of their main site. The new site is: https://addstore.itelligencegroup.com/uk/en/. (Their main domain is: http://itelligencegroup.com/uk/) This new Addstore site has recently gone live (in the past week or so) and so far, Google appears to have indexed 56 pdf files that are on the site, but it hasn't indexed any of the actual web pages yet. I can't figure out why though. I've checked the robots.txt file for the site which appears to be fine: https://addstore.itelligencegroup.com/robots.txt. Does anyone have any ideas about this?

What does this error mean?
We recently merged our Google + & Google Local pages and sent a request to Webmaster tools to connect the Google + page to our website. The message was successfully sent. However, when clicking the 'Approve or reject this request' link, the following error message appears: 'Can't find associate request' Anyone know what we are doing incorrectly? Thanks in advance for any insight.

Is there actual risk to having multiple URLs that frame in main url? Or is it just bad form and waste of money?
Client has many urls that just frame in the main site. It seems like a total waste of money, but if they are frames, is there an actual risk?

Including spatial location in URL structure. Does subfolder number and keyword order actually matter?
The SEOMoz On-Page report for my site brings up one warning (among others) that I find interesting: Minimal Subfolders in the URL My site deals with trails and courses for both races and general running. The structure for a trail is, for example: /trails/Canada/British-Columbia/Greater-Vancouver-Regional-District/Baden--Powell-Trail/trail/2 The structure for courses is: /course/28 In both cases, the id at the end is used for a database lookup. I'm considering an URL structure that would be: /trail/Baden-Powell-Trail/ca-bc-vancouver This would use the country code (CA) and sub-country code (BC) along with the short name for the region. This could be good because: it puts the main keyword first the URL is much shorter there are only 3 levels in the URL structure However, there is evidence, from Google's Matt Cutts, that the keyword order and URL structure don't matter in that way: See this post: http://www.seomoz.org/q/all-page-files-in-root-or-to-use-directories If Matt Cutts says they aren't so important then why are they listed in the SEOMoz On-Page Report? I'd prefer to use /trail/ca-bc-vancouver/Baden-Powell-Trail. I'll probably do a similar thing for courses. Is this a good idea? Thoughts? Many thanks, in advance, for your help. We're working on a site that is a beer company. Because it is required to have an age verification page, how should we best redirect the bots (useragents) to the actual homepage (thus skipping ahead of the age verification without allowing all browsers)?
This question is about useragents and alcohol sites that have an age verification screen upon landing on the site.
