Does page speed worth for SEO?
-
I always broken my head to try to follow all pagespeed guidelines. I increase my pagespeed significantly, but i didnt saw any effect in my SEO performance.
In my keywords, my concorrents are crap on it (I have score of 90 and they are at 60-70).Does google gives importance to it?

When the big update came through a little over two years ago about page speed, I was working on a site with load time issues. I did see quite the drop in organic referrals from Google after that update was pushed, while organic referrals from Bing and Yahoo continued to increase. I was working in-house at the time, so I don't have a lot of other sites to judge at that time, but I did see distinct change in that one site.
I also agree with you that load time affects users and their browsing and conversion behavior. And even though "everybody has broadband" there are a lot of people on poor public (or conference) wifi connections or on their phones, and pagespeed is quite important to them.

My opinion, the page speed doesn't effect ranking. It does effect what happens after they are on your site. Waiting for a website to load can be a huge turnoff, so optimizing for pagespeed is important not for rankings, for conversions.

What I got from the article was that he said it's not something that you should worry too much about , but it's not something you should overlook either. He seemed to hint that since SEO is continuously evolving, it's best to be proactive when trying to better your visitors' experience. That's my take on it at least.
So, Naghirniac, I'm sure any benefit you would have gotten from increasing your page speed, you have already realized. It's probably better to focus your energy on opportunities with greater returns.

Matt Cutts said at one point that page speed effects less than 1% of searches. You can read more here: http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/site-speed/.
So, I wouldn't expect it to help much. But think about how much happier your users will be! That's where the real gains are. Over time, it might help you a bit in the SERPs because people should bounce less frequently as a function of how fast your pages load.

Woocommerce SEO and Product attributes
Hi friends! I have a question that is advanced Woocommerce and seo-related.
Web Design | | JustinMurray
I'm seeing http://www.mywebsitex.com/pa_keyword/indexed in Google, but it cannot be properly optimized, and I would prefer to have a WordPress Page indexed for that keyword instead, which also lists those products and can be fully seo optimized. Woocommerce SEO plugin by Yoast lacks documentation and I have no clue if that would even fix this. I do have the Taxonomy (pa_keyword) set to not include these in the sitemap, but there doesn't seem to be a way to noindex/nofollow product attributes.
1. How can I best accomplish this?
2. Why are product attributes indexed by default?0 -
Does blogger.com stink for SEO purposes?
Three different SEO guys suggest moving my blog to another platform. " I think migrating to a more robust CMS platform like Drupal or Wordpress would be a wise decision." But, they never say why moving would benefit SEO. My blog is on a custom domain, has lots of original content and has decent organic traffic to begin with. I think I have other SEO issues to deal with before bothering with a new platform. Does blogger stink for SEO? Why?

Is it worth keeping .html even if 301'ing
We're going from static to a wordpress based ecommerce site. While we can append .html to urls the directory structure will change so that www.oursite.com/productname.html goes to www.oursite.com/product/productname.html My question is: Is it worth the trouble (from an seo perspective) of using a plugin to append new urls with .html when we're going to have to use 301 redirects anyway? If not should the urls have a trailing slash?

Can white text over images hurt your SEO?
Hi everyone, I run a travel website that has about 30 pre-search city landing pages. In a redesign last year we added large "hero" images to the top of the page, and put our h1 headlines on top of them in white. The result is attractive, but I'm wondering if Google could be reading this page as "white text on white page", which is an obvious no-no, especially if it could seem that we're trying to hide text. Here's an example: http://www.eurocheapo.com/paris/ H1: Expert reviews of cheap hotels in Paris I should add that our SERPs for these city pages has dropped (for "Cheap hotels in X"), but it could obviously be related to other issues. Any advice would be appreciated. Many thanks! Tom

How do I optimize a site designed to be one scrolling page of content?
Our website uses section ID's as its navigation so all the content is on one page. When you click About Us, the page scrolls down to About Us. Products, the page scrolls to Products section, and etc. I am getting crawl errors for meta descriptions but will this go away once the main domain has this info? We just added the meta keywords and description to the header and since the navigation sections use the same page, I assume it will correct the errors. Any other advice on optimizing for site designs like ours would be great. www.theicecubekit.com is the site. Thanks,

Lazy Loading Content and SEO
I'v been seeing a lot of websites use a technique to present content to website visitors when the scroll down the page called "Lazy Loading". Does this hinder SEO and indexing since the content is not actually on the page until the user acts/requests it?
