'Appropriate Use of Rel Canonical', Critical Factor but appears correct on page
-
Hi,
Trying to get the following page ranked unsuccessfully....
http://www.joules.com/en-GB/2/Collections-Quilted-Jackets/c01c02.r16.1
Instead a product page is being ranked, shown below....
http://www.joules.com/en-GB/Womens-Quilted-Jacket/Navy/M_HAMPTON/ProductDetail.raction
When I run the on page report card it advises that the Rel Canonical tag needs to point to that page, but we have checked and it looks to be doing that already.
Has anyone else had an issue like this?
Thanks,
Martin

Hi Martin,
The page you are trying to get to rank - http://www.joules.com/en-GB/2/Collections-Quilted-Jackets/c01c02.r16.1 has a rel canonical tag pointing to http://www.joules.com/en-GB/2/Collections-Quilted-Jackets/c01c02.r10.1
This is telling a search engine to ignore the page you're trying to get indexed and index the URL ending r10.1
Robert.

Well, to begin with those are different pages with different content, which is not the intended use of the rel=canonical tag. Rel=canonical is supposed to be for duplicate content, and if Google sees that the content is not duplicate it may decide to ignore it (and it should).
Secondly, your rel=canonical tag (on the page that is ranking) is pointing to the product page anyway (and it should). Specifically to:
[http://www.joules.com/en-GB/HAMPTON/Navy/M_HAMPTON/ProductDetail.raction](view-source:http://www.joules.com/en-GB/HAMPTON/Navy/M_HAMPTON/ProductDetail.raction)
It looks like your issue is just ranking signals, and rel=canonical doesn't come into play here. You might consider pulling short descriptions into the product listing on the category page to have more content to show Google, and getting more relevant links directly to the category page.

API for On Page tool
I'm looking for a tool similar to On Page Grader (Moz) or Focus Keyword (Yoast) with API. We are building out or internal CRM system. Even though none of these tools can replace manual on page analysis, it will be used as a metric and to catch human mistakes.

Keyword stuffing - on page grader count
I used the on page grader for my homepage, www.cprnj.com, and it said the keyword "physical therapy" was used 26 times in the body of the page. But I can't find more than 4. How exactly is keyword stuffing accounted for, and is there some place that I am not seeing the keywords?

Crawl Diagnostics - 350 Critical errors? But I used rel-canonical links
Hello Mozzers, We launched a new website on Monday and had our first MOZ crawl on 01/07/15 which came back with 350+ critical errors. The majority of these were for duplicate content. We had a situation like this for each gym class: GLOBAL YOGA CLASS (canonical link / master record) YOGA CLASS BROMLEY YOGA CLASS OXFORD YOGA CLASS GLASGOW etc All of these local Yoga pages had the canonical link deployed. So why is this regarded as an error by MOZ? Should I have added robots NO INDEX instead? Would think help? Very scared our rankings are gonna get effected 😞 Ben

How do I find out which pages are being indexed on my site and which are not?
Hi, I doing my first technical audit on my site. I am learning how to do an audit as i go and am a lost. I know some page won't be indexed but how do I: 1. Check the site for all pages, both indexed and not indexed 2. Run a report to show indexed pages only (i am presuming i can do this via screaming Frog or webmaster tool) 3. I can do a comparison between the two list and work out which pages are not being indexed. I'll then need to figure out way. I'll cross this bridge once i get to it Thanks Ben

Duplicate Page Title - although there are differences
Hello, I get duplicate page titles errors on pages in which there are little differences. For example: C++ Online Test for Seniors C# Online Test for Seniors I assume that from some reason the ++ and the # are removed when SEOMoz crawler checks for duplicate page titles. As you may know C# and C++ means two different programming languages. Should I do something about it or is it a bug in the crawler?

After I make corrections of my crawl diagnostics report, how can I tell is those corrections "took". Is there a way to immediatly refresh that report. Will it eventually refresh?'
I have made corrections to the crawl diagnostics report. Can I refresh this report? I would like to see if my corrections were correct. Thanks for your anticipated answer!

Crawl diagnostic Notices for rel Canonical increased
Hello, We just signed up for SEO Moz, and are reviewing the results of our second web crawl. Our Errors and Warnings summary have been reduced, but our Notices for Rel Canonical have skyrocketed from 300 to over 5,500. We are using a WP with the Headway theme and our pages already have the rel=canonical along wiht rel=author. Any ideas why this number would go up so much in one week? Thank you, Michael
