Crawl Diagnostics Report
-
I'm a bit concerned about the results I'm getting from the Crawl Diagnostics Report.
I've updated the site with canonical urls to remove duplicate content and when I check the site - it all displays the right values, but the report, which has just finished crawling is still showing a lot of pages as duplicate content.
Simple example:
Both of them are in the duplicate content section although both have canonical url set as:
Does each crawl check the entire site from the beginning or just the pages it didn't have a chance to crawl the last time?
This is just one of 333 duplicate content pages, which have canonical url pointing to the right page.
Can someone please explain?
-
Yep!
That's why I really like the csv files because you can sort stuff and filter things down to specifically what you want to see.

Hi Kenny,
Thanks for getting back to me.
So is it just the way it is reported on the page and it's not the actual problem with the duplicate content?
-
Hi Sebastian,
Sorry for the confusion. Our software currently reports those urls as having both duplicate content and canonical tags. I find that the best way to view this information is by exporting your crawl diagnostic's csv file. You can easily locate the export functionality in the upper right of the crawl diagnostic page.

Pages Crawled: 1 Why?
I have some campaigns which have only 1 page crawled, while some other campaigns, having completely similar URL (subdomain) and number of keywords and pages, have all pages crawled... Why is that so? It has been also a while I waited and so far no change...

The crawl report shows a lot of 404 errors
They are inactive products, and I can't find any active links to these product pages. How can I tell where the crawler found the links?

Unable to crawl pages
Hi, I am trying to set up a campaign for our website - www.salvationarmy.org.au however, I can't seem to get a scan of more than three pages. I have tried the following: www.salvationarmy.org.au (only 2 pages) www.salvationarmy.org.au/home (only 1 page) salvationarmy.org.au (only 3 pages) There is a geo IP redirect on www.salvationarmy.org.au but the second domain listed above should resolve the full site. I'm a newbie to SEOmoz so any help would be appreciated! Thanks, Mel

Question regarding the SEOmoz Report Card
A report card is directed towards one keyword. What if one is to target two keywords on one page? For example, if I want to target SEO in Miami, Miami SEO, and SEO Miami it would be impossible to get an "A" on the report card for all three. What is the best way to target two-three keys on one page? Lets say these keywords are equally beneficial to the site, and we do not want to have to use hierarchy for one key over the other. Would it be wise to build a page for each? I feel like that would be redundant to the user. It says I need the keyword 4 times in the body so I should have 4 "SEO Miami" and 4 "Miami SEO". High importance factors. What makes them high importance? The keyword should be in the beginning of the title. How does this make sense as a high importance factor. Many titles are going to sound spammy if this is how they are written. Lets use Miami SEO again as an example: Miami SEO from [company name] bla bla bla sounds like spam. Learn about SEO in Miami from [company name] sound much better and is probably more likely to get clicked on. How important are these High Importance factors? I was always under the impression that we build the site for the user however the report card changes that perspective.

Crawl Errors Confusing Me
The SEOMoz crawl tool is telling me that I have a slew of crawl errors on the blog of one domain. All are related to the MSNbot. And related to trackbacks (which we do want to block, right?) and attachments (makes sense to block those, too) ... any idea why these are crawl issues with MSNbot and not Google? My robots.txt is here: http://www.wevegotthekeys.com/robots.txt. Thanks, MJ

Only crawling one page
Hi there, A campaign was crawling fine, but at the last crawl, for some reason, SEOmoz can only crawl one page... any ideas? If I run a custom crawl I still access all of the site's pages.

Links listed in MozPro Crawl Diagnostics
Ok, seeing as I'm getting to the end of my first week as a Pro Member, I'm getting more and more feedback regarding the pages on my site. I'm slightly concerned though that, having logged in this morning, I'm being shown 407 warnings for pages with 'Too Many On Page Links.' According to the blurb at the top of the page, 'Too Many' is generally defined as being over 100 links on a page ... but when I look at the pages which are being thrown up in the report, none of them contain anywhere near 100 links. I seriously doubt there is a glitch with the tool which has led me to think that maybe there's an issue with the way my site is coded. Is anyone aware of a coding problem that may lead Google and SEOMoz to suspect that I have a load of links across my site? P.S. As an aside, when this tool mentions 'Too Many Links' is it referring purely to OBL or does it count links to elsewhere on my domain too? Cheers,

Thanks in advance for your help, I have been pleasantly surprised at the thoughtfulness and responsiveness of this community: Errors: 5XX (server error) Overly Dynamic URL 302 Temporary Redirect Too many on page links (how many is ideal?)
