Port 80 and Duplicate Content
-
The SEOmoz Web App is showing me that every single URL on one of my clients' domains has a duplicate in the form of the URL + :80.
For instance, the app is showing me that www.example.com/default.aspx is duplicated in the form of www.example.com:80/default.aspx
Any idea if this is an actual problem or just some kind of reporting error? Any help would be appreciated.

I'm willing to bet its an issue with their crawler as Robert mentions above.
While you wait on confirmation for this, make sure that your web server is not configured to serve to any unnecessary ports. For the vast majority of sites, you only need to listen to the default port 80. This apache doc may help you with this.

Anthony,
I can't tell you if this is the same issue, but Megan with SEOmoz just responded to a question re duplicate content:
http://www.seomoz.org/q/duplicate-page-content-and-titlesAgain, may be helpful, may not. But there was a bit of a bug.

Viral Marketing SEO Question: If you build a truly great piece of content, what are the best ways to seed it?
There are a few techniques you can use to spread out and get your content out there.

1. Email bloggers and tell them about your content
2. Share it on bookmarking sites (like Reddit)
3. Contact influential Twitter and Facebook profiles about it
4. Make it easy for visitors to share your infographic with an embed code at the bottom
5. Share it on infographic websites (like https://www.prizebondtime.com)
6. Share it with your email subscribers (if you have an email subscriber list)
7. Post it on your blog, Facebook page, Twitter, etc. Basically everywhere. The name of the game here is to get your content out in front of as many eyeballs you can as possible. Then after that, it's up to how good your content is to begin the viral loop.0 -

Duplicate Page Content and Title - Miva - How to fix?
Hi, I'm new to SEOmoz and just diving into it. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed. I use Miva Merchant as my storefront interface. SEMOz is returning a bunch of duplicate page content and duplicate page titles and I can't figure out what to do about it. It seems it may have something to do with Miva shortlinks. I click on the dup URL's in SEMOz and it brings me to a dead page. I can't figure out where it's coming from. I know without seeing the actual information it'll probably be tough to help me but any suggestions would be appreciated. I try to fix them and come to a point (after about three hours of getting nowhere) it becomes too frustrating. Thanks!

Should I worry about duplicate content errors caused by backslashes?
Frequently we get red-flagged for duplicate content in the MozPro Crawl Diagnostics for URLs with and without a backslash at the end. For example: www.example.com/ gets flagged as being a duplicate of www.example.com I assume that we could rel=canonical this, if needed, but our assumption has been that Google is clever enough to discount this as a genuine crawl error. Can anyone confirm or deny that? Thanks.
