Press Release and Duplicate Content

Hello folks,
We have been using Press Releases to promote our clients business for a couple of years and we have seen great results in referral traffic and SEO wise.
Recently one of our clients requested us to publish the PR on their website as well as blast it out using PRWeb and Marketwire.
I think that this is not going to be a duplicate content issue for our client's website since I believe that Google can recognize which content has been published first, but I will be more than happy to get some of the Moz community opinions.

Not sure of the technical answer. I'll leave it to others.
But why not publish slightly different versions on the company site and the press release site (unless there is a compliance or disclosure issue.)
Verbatim press releases on company websites often disrespect readers by including things best avoided:
- a hyperlink to a site people are already on
- an "about XYX company" that duplicates material already on the site
- boring, label-like headline wording done for SEO purposes, or to comply with the "news hook" requirement from some PR distribution sites
If I read one more press release headlined "XYZ Company Announces Launch of Super-Duper Widget" I'm gonna scream.
IMHO, best practice is to produce a slightly different version for the website.
Failing that, you can just summarize the news release and link to it on the press release site.

I have an issue with some of our press releases ranking above the product page or for targeted page for a certain keyword because of the inbound links and such a press release can gather. There can be some risk of dup content, depending on how the PR is written in comparison to the pages it relates to. However, I have found dup to be less of a problem and keyword cannibalization to be a bigger one.
I have to go back in and update anchor text, links, etc. in the press releases to push some of the "juice" through to the product page we want to rank for those terms - definitely messy to undo and work with.

Content From a Large Guide that will be released in sections
Hey Mozzers, Please Help! My new client has a blogger who is writing a multi-part series for them and releasing one part each week. Each part is about 500 words. I know that longer, in depth content generally provides better user signals like "dwell time" and even social shares....but i have to balance this with the fact that the client wants to publish one new post a week for SEO and to give users a reason to come back to the website. Submitting Same Press Release Content to Multiple PR Sites - Good or Bad Practice?
I see some PR (press release) sites where they distribute the same content on many different sites and at end they give the source link is that Good SEO Practice or Bad ? If it is Good Practice then how Google Panda or other algorithms consider it ?

Duplicate content created by website Calendar - A Penalty?
A colleague of mine asked me a question about duplicate content coming from their event calendar. I don't think this will affect them negatively, but I would love some feedback and thoughts. ThanksOne of my clients, LifeTech Academy, is using my RavenTools software. deal of our description pages are the same as the publishers = duplicate content according to Google. Although re-writing each description of the products we offer is a daunting, almost impossible task, I am thinking of re-writing publishers' descriptions using The Best Spinner software which allows me to replace some of the publishers' words with synonyms. I have re-written one audio book title's description resulting in 8% unique content from the original in 520 words. I did a CopyScape Check and it reported "65 duplicates." CopyScape appears to be reporting duplicates of words and phrases within sentences and paragraphs. I see very little duplicate content of full sentences
or paragraphs. Does anyone know whether Google's duplicate content algorithm is the same or similar to CopyScape's? How much of an audio book's description would I have to change to stay away from CopyScape's duplicate content algorithm? Reinforcing Rel Canonical? (Fixing Duplicate Content)
Hi Mozzers, We're having trouble with duplicate content between two sites, so we're looking to add some oomph to the rel canonical link elements we put on one of our sites pointing towards the other to help speed up the process and give Google a bigger hint. Would adding a hyperlink on the "copying" website pointing towards the "original" website speed this process up? Would we get in trouble if added about 80,000 links (1 on each product page) with a link to the matching product on the other site? For example, we could use text like "Buy XY product on Other Brand Name and receive 10% off!"

Frequent FAQs vs duplicate content
It would be helpful for our visitors if we were to include an expandable list of FAQs on most pages. Each section would have its own list of FAQs specific to that section, but all the pages in that section would have the same text. It occurred to me that Google might view this as a duplicate content issue. Each page _does _have a lot of unique text, but underneath we would have lots of of text repeated throughout the site. Should I be concerned? I guess I could always load these by AJAX after page load if might penalize us.
