How long until you see results?
-
How long does it typically take for SEO efforts to materialize? We recently performed a complete website redesign (new site, and am wondering how long we should wait until we analyze the results and possibly change our seo/keyword strategy?
-
As per our experience, results in google can be seen fairly quickly couple weeks however bing and yahoo probably takes 3-4 times longer.
-
You could perfectly optimise your site on-page and still rank below competitiors due to them having a stronger link profile.
As mentioned in the other responses I would hope to see results inside of a month BUT it may be that you have to work for a number of months to catch up to where competitors are depending on how string their link profile is.

If you ping the links you've built, generally see SERP movement within a week or two.
-
Yes, and thank you. I wasn't sure if you were referring to 301's or building links to the new site...
We launched about 6 weeks ago and our problem is that we are not ranking on Google (we are in Bing for some) for our Top terms, but we are for some of the less meaningful terms. We haven't done much in the way of building links to the new site, but when we do i'm wondering what to do and how long to see results...
-
Generally after I change a site structure or do a redesign, some URL's are broken and not working. In those situations, you need to do the following:
-301 the broken URLs to new URLs
-Take an accurate snapshot of where your link building efforts are pointing
-Make sure you don't mess up a page that has tons of highly authoritative linksAfter you do that and change your structure, it's a great idea to build links to your NEW structure to build back any lost authority and start ramping up those ranking efforts.
Does that make sense?
-
Can you please elaborate on precisely what is meant by ' then start building links...'?
-
I just built a brand new website (brand new domain), built it, SEO'd it, and built links and it;s ranking page 1 / page 2 for a medical term that gets 40,000+ exact searches a month. Only been 8 weeks. If that gives you any indication.
I'd say give it 3-4 weeks, then start building links and/or looking at your SEO strategy.

I am working on a schema markup project. When I test the schema code in the Schema Markup Validator, everything looks fine, no errors detected. However, when I test it in the Rich Results Test, a few errors come back.

How long should it take for indexed pages to update
Google has crawled and indexed my new site, but my old URLS appear in the search results. Is there a typical amount of time that it takes for Google to update the URL's displayed in search results?

Why does the site I am working on have so few visits from organic search results?
Hello! I am not very experienced with SEO, but I am trying to help out on a site that has been around since 2010 and has well over a thousand pages of high-quality, original content, with more being added all the time. Only around 65 of the site's daily visits come from organic search results; this seems very low. There has already been significant SEO work done on the site. Is there something about the site that strikes anyone as obviously getting in the way of organic traffic? The URL is ellenjovin.com. I would appreciate any thoughts you may have. Thank you very much!

Site Search Results in Index -- Help
Hi, I made a mistake on my site, long story short, I have a bunch of search results page in the Google index. (I made a navigation page full of common search terms, and made internal links to a respective search results page for each common search term.) Google crawled the site, saw the links and now those search results pages are indexed. I made versions of the indexed search results pages into proper category pages with good URLs and am ready to go live/ replace the pages and links. But, I am a little unsure how to do it /what the effects can be: Will there be duplicate content issues if I just replace the bad, search results links/URLs with the good, category page links/URLs on the navi. page? (is a short term risk worth it?) Should I get the search results pages de-indexed first and then relaunch the navi. page with the correct category URLs? Should I do a robots.txt disallow directive for search results? Should I use Google's URL removal tool to remove those indexed search results pages for a quick fix, or will this cause more harm than good? Time is not the biggest issue, I want to do it right, because those indexed search results pages do attract traffic and the navi. page has been great for usability. Any suggestions would be great. I have been reading a ton on this topic, but maybe someone can give me more specific advice. Thanks in advance, hopefully this all makes sense.

How would I be able to make sure Google lists search results as a combined listing opposed to a single listing/
I am slightly confused about how to let Google know to index our site as a complex listing opposed to individual page listing. Our site is well established and has over 3500 indexes. Does this have to do with the Sitemap or is it something else? Is there a way to expedite Google to list our site like the example below. Thank you for your help! Geo-Domain Centralization - Helps or Hurts a Long-Term Campaign?
I have a client with nearly 100 geo-specific domains (example: serviceincity.com). The content is mostly duplicate, however they weren't affected by Panda or Penguin, and most of the domains have a PR2-PR4. Doesn't mean they won't eventually (I know). My strategy is to centralize all the city domains and 301 them to their main website (example: brandname.com/locations/city/). However, their IBL profile shows at least 50% of their IBLs coming from the geo-specific domains, which makes centralizing quite a scary thing for short-term ranking. Having these domains is obviously not scalable from a social media or video SEO perspective, and we all know that in the long-term brand rules and domaining drools. Before I suggest they that they 301 these domains, I thought I'd get feedback from the community. Will all that 301 redirecting give more weight to the primary domain's visibility and sustain the ranking at a page-level, or will it send a flag to Google that the site might have been using it's own network of websites to game results? (which wasn't the case, the owner was just hyper with dominating in each city). Thanks in advance for your feedback.
