Campaign Reports Question
-
Hello everyone. I'm new to SEOMOZ and sort of a beginner with this SEO stuff but this does seem like the place to be to learn things. I spent quite a bit of time reading the blogs and found them very helpful - including everyone's comments.
I'm not sure what to make of a couple of my campaign reports. I'm going through my campaign reports and have a few questions. I guess the easy way is to break this down.
Question 1:
Crawl Errors: I"m getting duplicate content/page errors for the following pages.
http://www.njsigncrafters.com and http://www.njsigncrafters.com/index.php
Am I losing a bit of google points because of this and do I fix it by using a redirect?
Question 2:
When I look at my on-page analysis I'm getting grades of A-F. I'm figuring maybe I should have some recommendations about what to do but SEOMOZ gives me a grade and then leaves it at that. Besides reviewing my on-page factors am I missing something simple that I"m supposed to click on to see recommendations?
I suppose once I get used to the way things work I'll get this SEOMOZ site figured out.

Hi Denis,
Welcome to SEOmoz! Glad to have you on board. There's is a lot to learn, and it's a very much go-at-your-own-pace kind of learning (with a lot of Google searches thrown in with a few years of trial and error) but that's why we're here.
1. Yes, you have a duplicate content issue with your homepage. Probably the easiest way to fix this is with a canonical tag (or secondly, a 301 redirect)
You can learn more about these here:

2. On-page reports. Yep, your intuition is correct - you need to click through the blue link to see the report. After this, you'll see a rich report with all sorts of specifics.
Here's a tutorial and video on the on-page report. https://seomoz.zendesk.com/entries/20878127-on-page-analysis-for-campaigns
Hope this helps! Best of luck with your SEO!

Question #1: Yes. You have the same content on each page. Change up the content on the index page or edirect or block with a robot....
Question #2: The grades are there as empty buckets......you have to look at how many pages fall into each grade. Give the system a few days to come up with the resulkts.
You should also look at your sites link analysis against competitors. You can go into depth by clicking on them to show you the detail behind the totals.
The campaign stuff is good for the basics and would be perfect to give to clients.......but start to use some of the research tools that provide you more detailed information and allow you to go deeper. (It is one of the other folder options) There is a lot of value if you spend the time.
Hope this helps.....

After I make corrections of my crawl diagnostics report, how can I tell is those corrections "took". Is there a way to immediatly refresh that report. Will it eventually refresh?'
I have made corrections to the crawl diagnostics report. Can I refresh this report? I would like to see if my corrections were correct. Thanks for your anticipated answer!

Rankings Different in Serps from Report
My site shows up on page one for many search queries, but I'm "not in the top 50" for those same terms according to the rankings report. Having troubleshooted the problem, it may be a canonical issue. I did not include www when I originally set up my reports and it seems that my site shows up in search results with www. However; if you type in the url without the www, it will automatically forward to the page with www. I did this intentionally in order not to get penalized for duplicate content pages. So here's my question: If I've got one page redirected to the other, shouldn't the rankings report also follow that redirect? If so, then it should show the correct results, right? Thanks, Dino

Crawl Diagnostics Report Lacks Information
When I look at the crawl diagnostics, SEOMoz tells me there are 404 errors. This is understandable, because some pages were removed. What this report doesn't tell me is how those pages were discovered. This is a very important piece of information, because it would tell me there are links pointing to those pages, either internal or external. I believe the internal links have been removed. If the report told me how if found the link, I would be able to take immediate action. Without that information, I have to go so a lot of investigation. And when you have a million pages, that isn't easy. Some possibilities: The crawler remembered the page from the previous crawl. There was a link from an index page - i.e. it is in the database still There was an individual link from another story - so now there are broken links Ditto, but it in on a static index page The link was from an external source - I need to make a redirect Am I missing something, or is this a feature the SEO Moz crawler doesn't have yet? What can I do (other than check all my pages) to discover this?

One page per campaign?
Not quite sure if I read correctly, but is it correct that one campaign tracks only one page of my site? So if I wanted to track something like a services page, this would require a second campaign?

Duplicate Content and Titles in SEOMoz reports
I've had to rename some of the pages on my site and also move them to different locations. I placed a rel="canonical" on the old page pointing to the new one. The reports on my PRO Dashboard are telling me that I have Duplicate Content and Page Title errors. Do the SEOMoz automated reports take the rel="canonical" link into consideration or do I need to remove these pages and do a 301 redirect from the old to the new page?
