Google (GWT) says my homepage and posts are blocked by Robots.txt
-
I guys.. I have a very annoying issue..
My Wordpress-blog over at www.Trovatten.com has some indexation-problems..
Google Webmaster Tools data:
GWT says the following: "Sitemap contains urls which are blocked by robots.txt." and shows me my homepage and my blogposts..This is my Robots.txt: http://www.trovatten.com/robots.txt
"User-agent: *
Disallow: /wp-admin/
Disallow: /wp-includes/Do you have any idea why it says that the URL's are being blocked by robots.txt when that looks how it should?
I've read a couple of places that it can be because of a Wordpress Plugin that is creating a virtuel robots.txt, but I can't validate it..1. I have set WP-Privacy to crawl my site
2. I have deactivated all WP-plugins and I still get same GWT-Warnings.Looking forward to hear if you have an idea that might work!

Do you know which plugin (or combination) was the trouble?
I use a lot of wordpress, and this is very interesting.
-
You are absolutely right.
The problem was that a plugin I installed messed with my robots.txt
-
I am going to disagree with the above.
The command <meta < span="">name="robots" content="noodp, noydir" /> has nothing to do with denying any access to the robots.</meta <>
It is used to prevent the engines from displaying meta descriptions from DMOZ and the Yahoo directory. Without this line, the search engines might choose to use those descriptions, rather than the descriptions you have as meta descriptions.

Hey Frederick,
Here's your current meta data for robots on your home page (in the section):
name="robots" content="noodp, noydir" />
Should be something like this:
name="robots" content="INDEX,FOLLOW" />
I don't think it's the robots.txt that's the issue, but rather the meta-robots in the head of the site.
Hope this helps!
Thanks,
Anthony

I have tweak around with an XML SItemap-generater and I think it works. I'll give an update in a couple of hours!
Thansk!

Thanks for your comment Stubby and you are probably right.
But the problem is the Disallowing and not the sitemaps.. And based on my Robots.txt should everything be crawable.
What I'm worried about is that the virtuel Robots.txt that WP-generates is trouble.

Is Yoast generating another sitemap for you?
You have a sitemap from a different plugin, but Yoast can also generate sitemaps, so perhaps you have 2 - and one of the sitemaps lists the items that you are disallowing.

Google crawl drop
the crawl request of my company site: https://www.dhgate.com/ has dropped nearly over 95%, from daily 6463599 requests to 476493 requests at 12:00am on 9th, Oct (GMT+8). This dramatic dropping trend not only showed in our GSC crawl stats report but also our company's own log report. We have no idea what’s going on. We want to know whether there is an update of google about crawlling, or is this the issue of our own site? If something is wrong with our site, in what aspects would you recommend us to check, analyze and accordingly optimize?

John Mueller says don't use Schema as its not working yet but I get markup conflicts using Google Mark-up
I watched recently John Mueller's Google Webmaster Hangout [DEC 5th]. In hit he mentions to a member not to use Schema.org as it's not working quite yet but to use Google's own mark-up tool 'Structured Data Markup Helper'. Fine this I have done and one of the tags I've used is 'AUTHOR'. However if you use Google's Structured Data Testing Tool in GWMT you get an error saying the following Error: Page contains property "author" which is not part of the schema. Yet this is the tag generated by their own tool. Has anyone experienced this before? and if so what action did you take to rectify it and make it work. As it stands I'm considering just removing this tag altogether. Thanks David cqbsdbunpicv8s76dlddd1e8u4g

Quality Issues: My blog is blocked on Google Search Engine
Hi Webmasters, I got an email from google team. The email is included below. **Google Webmaster Tools: Quality Issues on http://abcdblogger.com/**August 8, 2012 Dear site owner or webmaster of http://abcdblogger.com/, We've detected that some of your site's pages may be using techniques that are outside Google's Webmaster Guidelines. If you have any questions about how to resolve this issue, please see ourWebmaster Help Forum for support. Sincerely, Google Search Quality Team My blog is completely blocked on Google Search engine. I removed all existing posts and reinstalled a fresh version of wordpress and wrote a good article. I redirected all broken links my homepage with a 301. After making those changes I submitted a reconsideration request to Google, But they declined it. I doubt that the reason for blocking could be due to the backlinks pointing to my domain. I think Google's Disavow Tool help me to remove low quality backlinks, But how can I sort low quality backlinks using Opensite Explorer? If possible can you create a text file with all possible low quality links, So that I could submit it using Google Disavow Tool. Thanks.

Tags showing up in Google
Yesterday a user pointed out to me that Tags were being indexed in Google search results and that was not a good idea. I went into my Yoast settings and checked the "nofollow, index" in my Taxanomies, but when checking the source code for no follow, I found nothing. So instead, I went into the robot.txt and disallowed /tag/ Is that ok? or is that a bad idea? The site is The Tech Block for anyone interested in looking.

Subdomain Robots.txt
If I have a subdomain (a blog) that is having tags and categories indexed when they should not be, because they are creating duplicate content. Can I block them using a robots.txt file? Can I/do I need to have a separate robots file for my subdomain? If so, how would I format it? Do I need to specify that it is a subdomain robots file, or will the search engines automatically pick this up? Thanks!
