What Does the SEO Moz Crawler Take Into account?
-
I'm working on a page that has links from some decent pages pointing to it, but a lot of them are low-value blog comments. So I'm pretty sure that its Page Authority is higher than it should be, compared to where it's ranking.
Does SEO moz take the type of link into account?
i.e. if it's a footer link, blog comment, or forum signature link; this should carry less weight than a link in the content of the page itself, as it does with Google.

Hi Sean,
Good point, and this is a common issue with link metrics. I believe the metrics used to calculate most Moz metrics were recently tweaked and the models used to calculate them all adjusted by the in house data scientist, Dr. Matt Peters. I can't tell you exactly how every link is valued, but I can say that over time, Moz has tried to model thier metirics (MozTrust, DomainAuthority, MozRank) in ways that reflect real-world link metrics.
That said, in spite of the great progress, it remains a game of cat-and-mouse game with Google. We can guess how Google values certain links, but Moz metrics are far more likely to count links that Google is likely to disregard. In the end, as you have discovered, you often have to use your own eyes and judgement when evaluating links past the initial qualifying stage.

Unsolved Mobile Rankings for me and competitors disappear in Moz but still ranking.
Hi, I'm trying to create an SEO report for my client however their mobile rankings have completely disappeared for Google Mobile rankings. Competitors rankings have disappeared as well. Could this be a Moz configuration issue?

Robots.txt blocking Moz
Moz are reporting the robots.txt file is blocking them from crawling one of our websites. But as far as we can see this file is exactly the same as the robots.txt files on other websites that Moz is crawling without problems. We have never come up against this before, even with this site. Our stats show Rogerbot attempting to crawl our site, but it receives a 404 error. Can anyone enlighten us to the problem please? http://www.wychwoodflooring.com -Christina

404 error for unknown URL that Moz is finding in our blog
I'm receiving 404 errors on my site crawl for messinastaffing.com. They seem to be generating only from our blog posts which sit on Hubspot. I've searched high and low and can't identify why our site URL is being added at the end - I've tried every link in our blog and cannot repeat the error the crawl is finding. For instance: Referer is: http://blog.messinastaffing.com/take-charge-career-story-compelling-cover-letter/ 404 error is: http://blog.messinastaffing.com/take-charge-career-story-compelling-cover-letter/www.messinastaffing.com I agree that the 404 error URL doesn't exist but I can't identify where Moz is finding it. I have approximately 75 of these errors - one for every blog on our site. Beth Morley Vice President, Operations Messina Group Staffing Solutions

Moz Crawl Report more urls?
Hi. I have used Moz Crawl Test and get my 3,000 urls crawled no issue. However, my site has more than that, is it possible to crawl the entire website? Alot of the crawl urls in the Moz test are search string urls and filters so Ive probably wasted about 2,500 urls on filter urls. Any advise or alternative software that wont cost a fortune?

Best Way to Seemlessly Use Moz and Google Analytics
Hi All, I have Moz Pro and I am beginning to explore Moz Analytics. I currently use Google Analytics for pretty much everything and I am almost at expert level at using the GA interface so I'm ready to learn a new tool and have a second source of data! My question is: what's the best way to get the most of Moz Analytics and GA congruently? Off hand I know that Moz's keyword, rank, and link data, including competitive insights, is more comprehensive than GA. But how else can I use Moz and get the most out of the Moz Analytics? Looking to really dive in and discuss how we can make use of both! Thanks - Vee

Open Site Explorer - SEO - Company Back Links not visible?
Hi Guys, I am relatively new to the SEO community and have what is hopefully a pretty quick and simple question? I have recently outsourced some of my SEO campaigns to an Australian SEO group which were referred to me buy a friend, and i do not have the time to manage all sites SEO. On pitch the SEO company said they had in excess of 7000 domains, and they would implement a massive back linking strategy for me anywhere upwards of 200 links a month and all legit. Initially there were some basic header and title tag changes needed on the site, and I am now in month 4 of my campaign. Looking forward to using SEOMOZ service and specifically Open Site Explorer, I entered my URL but to my disappointment I could only see 4 links and two I was responsible for. I spoke to the SEO company who responded Open Site Explorer wasn't a good indication of back links and that a lot of their sites were not on the network because of the structure of their linking being only one way. I would appreciate a second opinion (external of this company) on this because of my short time learning and dabbling with SEO. On a side note thoroughly enjoying learning SEO and my journey as part of the SEOMOZ community. Appreciate any feedback or responses I get. Kind regards Bodie http://www.berkeleyriver.com.au
