Optimising a website for multiple keywords and multiple towns
-
Hello,
We have a clients site who we are trying to rank for 10 keywords accross 20 towns so a combination of 200. What would be the best way to tackle this. Their url is www.abbottclarkeifa.co.uk.
Thanks
Shehzad

Thanks very much guys. Much appreciated

Is it spam to list all your products? And I would not suggest listing all the towns in the footer, but a link in the footer to a page that list all the towns. This way you keep your number of links down so link juice is not diluted.

Thanks for the answers guys.
Wouldnt it be considered spamming if I add all the towns in the footer?

I do as Martin does. Each location has its own page (Martin uses subfolders) and I target keywords and inbound links for my geo target
Internal linking is easy as you simply have a we serve the following areas link in your footer that then list all these areas. Each page then sends juice to this page and subsequently to the other pages.
Make sure to link directly to geo pages when mentioning in blogs, tweets, or Facebook post.

I've got a fair amount of experience doing just that, as the company I work in-house for operates in a series of very specific geographic areas.
I'll use your site as an example.
You'll do well to start with 20 of these, one for each of your areas.
www.abbottclarkeifa.co.uk/high-wycombe/
www.abbottclarkeifa.co.uk/reading/
www.abbottclarkeifa.co.uk/oxford/This is a relatively common practice. Be sure to add as much unique content to each as possible: local maps, phone numbers, addresses, reviews/testimonials. The bulk of the on-page effort (H1s, title, body) should then be focused primarily on the town name and your brand name, with at least a couple of instances of your primary keyword.
You can then spiral this out to the next level, e.g.:
www.abbottclarkeifa.co.uk/reading/financial-adviser-reading
www.abbottclarkeifa.co.uk/reading/pension-advice-reading
www.abbottclarkeifa.co.uk/reading/retirement-planning-readingAgain, focus each landing page toward the particular keyphrase, reflecting it in everything from the <title>to the image file names and alt attributes. (Don't go overboard or worry too much about keyword density.)</p> <p>Be sure to promote internal linking where possible (whereby as many of the pages link to as many of the others in as natural of a way as possible, with a focus on providing value and usability to prospective customers, not just for baiting crawlers).</p> <p>You can then, of course, start building keyword-rich anchor text backlinks from relevant sources to these landing pages.</p> <p>Hope this helps,</p> <p>Martin</p> <p> </p></title>

Schema Markup for Multiple Locations
I am reaching out to see if I correctly set up Schema Markup on our website for multiple locations. Our company has HQ in Little Chute WI but we have 6 other office locations. We have a separate page for each office within our website. I inserted ProfessionalService Schema Markup, using GTM. I used the address of our HQ Little Chute office on all pages besides the 6 pages that have different office locations. I then individually set up unique ProfessionalService Schema Markup for the 6 locations with their unique location addresses. Did I do this correctly? Thanks

How can a website have multiple pages of duplicate content - still rank?
Can you have a website with multiple pages of the exact same copy, (being different locations of a franchise business), and still be able to rank for each individual franchise? Is that possible?

Breadcrumb wording and keywords
This is real estate website related. For every neighborhood I have a "condos" and "houses" page. In the breadcrumb structure I may have: "home > island condos > city condos > region condos > neighborhood condos". Questions: Some breadrumb structures have 5-6 different breadcrumb link and repeating the word "condos" in each link seems redundant. Would it be better just to list "island", "city", "region", "neighborhood" and never use the word "condos" or "houses" in the breadcrumbs? For users this would be better. If I implement what I suggest in 1) - deleting "condos" or "houses" wording from breadcrumb links, then on a condos page the word "region" (as an example) will lead to the "region condos" page whereas the exact same word "region" on a house page will lead to the "region houses" page. This means I will have a situation where the anchor text in breadcrumbs become 100% identical for my "condos" and "houses" pages, however, the they lead to different pages. Is this OK? I have in past been told that when I use internal anchor text, that the link should always leads to the same page. Having same anchor leading to different pages would not be good….is that so? thank you

Website No Longer Ranking In Google:
My website was on first page google couple of months ago, now nothing. Shows up in Bing page one. Some queries/pages still showing OK, but some not at all. Example "residential elevators illinois" found nowhere. http://www.accesselevator.net is the website. Have found 900 poor quality links and used disavow tool. Any further suggestions? Their Page Rank also went from a 3 to a 2. Implemented nofollow on all outgoing links. Need advice.

Same website, seperate subfolders or separete websites? 12 stores in two cities
I have a situation where there are 12 stores in separate suburbs across two cities. Currently the chain store has one eCommerce website. So I could keep the one website with all the attendant link building benefits of one domain. I would keep a separate webpage for each store with address details to assist with some Local SEO. But (1) each store has slightly different inventory and (2) I would like to garner the (Local) SEO benefits of being in a searchers suburb. So I'm wondering if I should go down the subfolder route with each store having its own eCommerce store and blog eg example.com/suburb? This is sort of what Apple does (albeit with countries) and is used as a best practice for international SEO (according to a moz seminar I watched awhile back). Or I could go down the separate eCommerce website domain track? However I feel that is too much effort for not much extra return. Any thoughts? Thanks, Bruce.

Worth removing keywords...?
I was just going over a site I manage and noticed it had a load of meta keywords on it. Probably 10-15 keywords per page... Do you think this is harming the site? Is it worth removing them?

Keyword Significance
I am seeing some very interesting changes in our non-branded keywords, and am curious to know how keyword significance in Google Webmaster Tools plays into ranking of a site. Say for example we are a photography website selling photography supplies. At one point our most significant word was Canon, but now it is photography. Would that mean that we would start seeing a lot of non-branded keywords generating from Google like "camera strap", "camera lens hood", etc. This is really good for us, but curious to know if the only reason we are seeing this is the shift in our keyword significance. Any insight? Thanks!
