Review of on page SEO - Please help
-
Hi
I am new to SEOmoz but can see a lot of great information going back and forth. I am looking for a little help with the SEO on our site and looking for suggestions on what to do to improve it. We have some pages where we aggregate content from our database such as this:
http://www.touristlink.com/india/nagpur/cat/temples.html
It would seem that "Temples in Nagpur" is not that competitive of a term but we dont show up until page 4. Any on page suggestions on what we could do to improve? Or any mistakes we are making.
All the content on the site is fairly new as in 6 months even though the site has been established and online for a number of years. We have not done any specific linking building for the term "Temples in Nagpur"
Any suggestions on the overall structure of the site would also be great. Thanks in advance.

Hi Brad,
Thanks for spending the time on the review and giving some specific advice. We will definitely try a pinterest page and also rewriting the meta descriptions. Obviously the descriptions are auto-generated but I am sure we can them read a little better so it does not sound like the encyclopaedia.

Hi David,
Just a few little pointers:
- Add a Pinterest 'Pin It' button to your site. You've got some interesting images on there, let users be able to pin them easily directly from your site.
- The tourirst/travel niche seems ideal for Pinterest, so as well as point 1 above, create a Pinterest page and start sharing images of your favourite travel spots, people travelling etc
- Create a Google Plus page and start posting
- Your page titles are very basic - for that page it's just "Temples in Nagur". Try adding some secondary terms.
- Likewise your meta descriptions are pretty boring - they don't really inspire me to visit the page: "TouristLink features 7 temples in Nagpur. The most popular temples in Nagpur are Koradi Temple, Shri Vyankatesh Temple and Ramtek Temple. Also of intertest are Ganesh Tekdi, Dhapewada Vithoba Temple and Adasa Ganpati Temple." - I'd rewrite these.
- There's no external links to this page - http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/links?site=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.touristlink.com%2Findia%2Fnagpur%2Fcat%2Ftemples.html - develop some great content and get some links!
Thanks,
Brad

The great idea is to use the SEOmoz on-page Analysis tool and you will have the patter idea of how page is working in terms of on-page optimization.
But in a single go I noticed few thing that you should consider changing like internal linking, you add 4 to 5 internal links in a 5 lines of content.. Try to reduce down to 1 at max.
Content is not interesting, try to add quality content that should be loved by users and search engine.

Why Would My Page Have a Higher PA and DA, Links & On-Page Grade & Still Not Rank?
The Search Term is "Alcohol Ink" and our client has a better page authority, domain authority, links to the page, and on-page grade than those in the SERP for spaces 5-10 and we're not even ranked in the top 51+ according to Moz's tracker. The only difference I can see is that our URL doesn't use the exact text like some of the 5-10 do. However, regardless of this, our on-page grade is significantly higher than the rest of them. The one thing I found was that there were two links to the page (that we never asked for) that had a spam score in the low 20's and another in the low 30's. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to maybe get around this? Certainly, a content campaign and linking campaign around this could also help but I'm kind of scratching my head. The client is reputable, with a solid domain age and well recognized in the space so it's not like it's a noob trying to get in out of nowhere.

In our reports we get alt tag errors for our banner images. We are unable to add alt tags to the banner images as they live inside CSS. We can add a title tag on the div title for the banner. Does that help with SEO and accessibility?

Help! The website ranks fine but one of my web pages simply won't rank on Google!!!
One of our web pages will not rank on Google. The website as a whole ranks fine except just one section...We have tested and it looks fine...Google can crawl the page no problem. There are no spurious redirects in place. The content is fine. There is no duplicate page content issue. The page has a dozen product images (photos) but the load time of the page is absolutely fine. We have the submitted the page via webmaster and its fine. It gets listed but then a few hours later disappears!!! The site has not been penalised as we get good rankings with other pages. Can anyone help? Know about this problem?

SEO-Friendly Method to Load XML Content onto Page
I have a client who has about 100 portfolio entries, each with its own HTML page. Those pages aren't getting indexed because of the way the main portfolio menu page works: It uses javascript to load the list of portfolio entries from an XML file along with metadata about each entry. Because it uses javascript, crawlers aren't seeing anything on the portfolio menu page. Here's a sample of the javascript used, this is one of many more lines of code: // load project xml try{ var req = new Request({ method: 'get', url: '/data/projects.xml', Normally I'd have them just manually add entries to the portfolio menu page, but part of the metadata that's getting loaded is project characteristics that are used to filter which portfolio entries are shown on page, such as client type (government, education, industrial, residential, industrial, etc.) and project type (depending on type of service that was provided). It's similar to filtering you'd see on an e-commerce site. This has to stay, so the page needs to remain dynamic. I'm trying to summarize the alternate methods they could use to load that content onto the page instead of javascript (I assume that server side solutions are the only ones I'd want, unless there's another option I'm unaware of). I'm aware that PHP could probably load all of their portfolio entries in the XML file on the server side. I'd like to get some recommendations on other possible solutions. Please feel free to ask any clarifying questions. Thanks!

NOINDEX listing pages: Page 2, Page 3... etc?
Would it be beneficial to NOINDEX category listing pages except for the first page. For example on this site: http://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads/101/fsx-missions/ Has lots of pages such as Page 2, Page 3, Page 4... etc: http://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Aflyawaysimulation.com+fsx+missions Would there be any SEO benefit of NOINDEX on these pages? Of course, FOLLOW is default, so links would still be followed and juice applied. Your thoughts and suggestions are much appreciated.
