Page Authority vs Domain Authority
-
I'm hoping this is a quick and simple question. Sometimes when using the open site explorer or the keyword difficulty tool i find that some pages have a higher "page authority" than the "domain authority."
That seemed odd to me, is there a correlation between the two? You would think by default as you grow your page authority the domain authority increases as well?
So i guess my question would be, what happens on a page to give it a higher page authority than domain authority?
-
I see, i wonder what those metrics are. I have seen some pages with a page authority of 50 with only 3 backlinks. So I'm sure their is a correlation with quality of backlinks along with the amount.

I assume it is because of the math that is used to calculate Page Authority vs Domain Authority. Since both have a maximum score of 100, any given link has to count fewer points towards domain authority than it does towards page Authority, or your Domain Authority would be in the hundreds or thousands (since you have to combine links to all the pages to get domain authority).
"as you grow your page authority the domain authority increases as well?"
Yes, but probably not as much. If a link grows your page authority by one point, maybe it only grows your domain authority by 0.3 points.Hope this makes sense and is helpful.

Comparing Domain Authority Scores
Since your scale (like PageRank) is a logarithmic scale, it makes it hard to judge the distance between 2 scores. Can you give me a rule of thumb. For PageRank, each jump is an exponential jump - so that a PR6 is perhaps 10 times stronger than a PR5. What is the log base that SEOMoz uses. Should I assume that a 60 is 10 times stronger than a 50? This is important when it comes to measuring progress because growth is going to get more difficult as you move up the scale and I need to communicate the distance between our current Authority score and our goal. Thank You!

Is it possible to exclude pages from Crawl Diagnostic?
I like the crawl diagnostic but it shows many errors due to a forum that I have. I don't care about the SEO value of this forum and would like to exclude any pages in the /forum/ directory. Is it possible to add exclusions to the crawl diagnostic tool?
