Infographic/Link Bait idea. Unrelated to my site though, suggestions?
-
Question, been thinking of some link bait infographic ideas for my site www.jobshadow.com
I've got a couple in the careers/job niche but the one I think would be best is completely unrelated.
I study free market economics a lot and want to debunk the whole 'deflation' debate that is on the news these days.
The overall gist would be to do so with a history of Apple products showing why falling prices aren't anything to be afraid of.
Given that it's econ/techie related(even non econ people would find this graphic neat I think) and not specific to the 'career hunting' and job searching my site is I'm curious what people suggest.
Give it a shot and release on our blog anyway? Or trade it to someone else in a more relative niche(assuming the graphic gets built, I know ideas are relatively cheap:).

Hey, great thoughts. Much appreciated!
I could do a survey around job satisfaction pretty easy. Have tons of data there. Was looking into that.
What did you mean by the 'ego bait angle' and top 10 lists? Sounds interesting.
Also, could you elaborate on the inspring people with online presence/profiles. Those seem pretty intriguing/possible.
Thanks!

Or talk about the economic impact of deflation and its effect on the job market...

Hi astahl11,
If you're looking to promote infographics on your blog I would personally be aiming for related topics, whilst the 'deflation' debate around tech products sounds interesting I think you may struggle to get any traction with an unrelated site behind it as such.
Have you explored all the various areas your site could offer in terms of infographic topics?

As your site is about mentoring and shadowing a career path, perhaps something along the lines of inspiring people with online presence/profiles. To test the water you could try some top 10 style lists, with more of an ego bait angle perhaps?

Stats surrounding apprenticeships and getting young people started in new careers?
-
A survey surrounding job satisfaction? And linking that to stats about changing your career path - how many people have tried it, how many have succeeded, what route did they follow, etc?
Hope that helps in some way.
Thanks, Greg -

By all means produce it and have it on your site. Not only will it bring the possibility of traffic and links, but you are also expanding your brand presence online.
Be sure to include the embed code so that others can link use your image, and it will link to your site.
Good luck!

Linkedin "company website" link - any value?
Hi So, on Linkedin, I can put my company website. I've been trying to figure out if this is a nofollow, or do follow - or, not even really a link. Here's how it appears in my profile's source code Websites <a target="_blank" <strong="">href="/redir/redirect?url=http%3A%2F%2Fmaxvape%2Ecom&urlhash=MtlQ&trk=ppro_website">Company Website</a> Is this even a "link"? I'm guessing the way it is built, no it's not even a nofollow link. Secondly, does anyone know any good link-juice you can get form Linkedin. Thanks!

ROS Outbound Social Links vs Connect Page with Social Feed?
A client wants to include social media icons in their footer. Instead of linking to facebook, Google+, etc they would like to link to a page with social feeds from their networks. Are there any SEO implications to doing this?

Short Facebook page name/vanity URL
Does anyone know how to go about getting a page name on Facebook of less than 5 characters? I saw Moz was able to claim facebook.com/moz (BTW, congrats on the redesign!), and many other brands also have claimed page names under 5 characters. Has anyone else had success claiming a short page name? Do you have to know the right person at Facebook, or are there other requirements? We have around 35K likes on our page, and our site gets a pretty good amount of traffic. My boss doesn't like any of my ideas that are 5+ characters... she really wants the short URL. If anyone has any insights on what I need to do (or who I need to talk to at Facebook), I'd really appreciate it!

G+ places/local - Company Categories and Pages question
I have two questions about google places/local and Personal/Company Pages Regarding Local and the categories section. Should you be using strictly the predefined categories they have? or should you be creating your own? Also say you're a car repair shop for instance. If you should be creating your own such as 'truck repair' should the city be in there as well 'Truck Repair New York/New York Truck Repair(keyword or location first?)' When it comes to company and personal g+ places, i understand doing the rel author and its bennefits but what is the correct way about tagging this? For instance in Wordpress, Studiopress has a section in the profile for the user g+ profile that will rel author it, and Yaost SEO says 'if you have a business page, insert it here and link your personal page as a contributor to the business page' Should we be filling in both sections? or does this cause a conflict? Adding these items is very easy to do, but would rather do it right the first time then circle back and have to correct everything. Any feedback/input is appreciated. Thanks,

I have 3 different niches - Should I create 3 different Social Profiles/hubs?
So I have 3 completely different niches. As in B2B vs. B2C, as well as markets that are not related whatsoever. Unless your grandmother that likes to sew, just so happens to also love to demolish giant buildings (lol, I never thought about how polar opposite my niches were until I re-read that sentence). Anyways, I guess the company should also have profiles/hubs, but what about for Outreach? I feel like outreach should be done by a personal profile, since outreach is all about networking and building relationships. Any direction/help/tips here? Thanks everyone, Tyler A.

Similar Sites to CrunchBase
Hi All, Are there any similar sites to CrunchBase in that you can submit your blogs, websites, social profiles etc all to one central 'People' type page? I'm after high quality directories like this that allow you to create profiles to link to all your other profiles. Only after quality sites like CrunchBase, not spammy ones. Any suggestions? Many thanks
