Rough Simple Math formula for sales/SEO...am I out of touch?
-
Please let me know if I have this all wrong ...
500 people search for "ham"
My client is #1 SERP w/clean SEO I have provided.
out of the 500, half click on the SERP the rest got to ads, or to the bathroom, etc.
250 click to website, half go through.... the rest bail (50% bounce, I know this is bad, but just for demo purposes)
Leaving 125 as potential Ham buyers.
I have a feeling this final # should be much smaller...thoughts, insights?
Thanks Mozzers!

Google Traffic Estimator and adwords data
-
Now I am curious where people are sourcing their search volume figures. Google Traffic Estimator or Wordtracker? Do we know which is more accurate? Do people average the two? Is there another source?
-
I agree 50% ctr for first position in a serp is high i have seen keywords in number 1 with 629 clicks out of over 2k search volume for the word

Thanks,
Designer illustrator turns SEO ... Yikes ... If only I am as good at SEO as I am as a Graphics Pro, Ill be OK!

BTW just peaked at your site. I love your design for Pinot for the People—so cool!
-
understood. Thanks for taking the time to weigh in on this.
I will be dominating with other words for my client as well.
The math I need to consider is total traffic X 2.3% as a rough estimate.
Thanks

I've only seen that 2006 AOL dataset, leading me to believe your expectations are ballpark. But he's right—I think a 2.3% conversion rate is standard across the web (varying dramatically), so without considering other factors I would expect 2-3 sales on those figures.

This is From 2007... from SEOMOZ

LOL Nice!
Here is what I asked Tyler...
Thanks Tyler...
"50% clickthrough is very high"
....Even if I secured the #1, page 1 organic Google SERP spot for "Ham"?(its really not ham, but something specific like Jimi Hendrix tshirt)
Or do you mean the first page or average of the 3 spots?

You're Wikipedia's SEO! Dang dude you are good at what you do!
-
A 50% click through rate is really high. Then a good conversion rate is 2%. So then you're dealing with 2-3 purchases. All that sounds reasonable. Bounce is just people that leave immediately, you're exit rate should also be considered.

Photographer home page seo
I have a question about the best way to optimize a photographer's homepage for SEO. It's a simple answer if you specialize in one or two things but in my experience many beginner (and even seasoned photographers) will shoot whatever they can get their hands on. Perhaps you mainly shoot weddings and engagement sessions but you also shoot newborns from time to time, family photos, high school seniors and generic head shots. Granted the short answer may be to simply suggest that they specialize however coming from the photography world that isn't always feasible. Of course we'd suggest that they should create a page for each specialty to optimize for that specific keyword, but I'm talking mainly about the home page. Dallas Wedding Engagement Family Newborn headshot photographer looks pretty spammy and I'm sure Google won't like that either. In some cases you can definitely group things together, like family, senior portrait and new born could feasibly be grouped into "Dallas family portrait photographer" etc, but in other instances where you shoot everything not so much. So with that being said, in terms of optimizing both the title tag and content on the page (easier to separate out) what would your advice be?

What is 'SEO copywriting' in 2015?
Howdy forum-fans! I've been toying with the idea for a while now, that 'SEO copywriting' and 'writing for Google' is no longer something that SEO's should be focusing on, but rather writing great, relevant, unique content for customers. The theory is that Google is smart enough to pick up on this and, via it's algorithms, know that it's content worth ranking as it'll be useful to people searching for queries related to the content. Additionally a well written peice of content should naturally contain keywords, phrases and links, taking away some of the overthinking that I've sometimes experienced (first hand) when writing content. What does everyone think? Is 'Writing for Google' dead in 2015 and, if so, has 'Writing for customers' replaced it? Or is there still a place for SEO copywriting; Eg. Well formed titles, URLs, meta-data (does this count as copywriting?)

KWs w/ no bids on Google AdWords
When using the Google Keyword Planner to research KWs, is it a correct assumption that if the KW doesn't have a suggested bid, there's probably not going to be a real impact in optimizing for it? Hypothetically, if I saw a high-volume, low-competition KW w/out a suggested bid I'd feel differently, but I'm just seeing it happen with low volume and competition. Thanks,

Keywords/URL
Greetings! I've read previous posts on this topic, but wondering if something has changed recently...On the on-page grading, the following was suggested:Use Keywords in your URL - high importance - easy fix _(In the past it has read difficult fix). _Could it be as easy as creating a new page with the name in the url, then redirecting to it? My site is www.enchantingquotes.com and the keyword that brings in virtually all of business is "wall quotes". I've read in the forum this isn't worth the trouble of trying to do, but the "easy fix" comment has me wondering...?Any help is much appreciated....I'm been trying to recover from a recent unexplained drop in rank. Ugh! (So feel free to analyze my site LOL!) :DA huge thanks for any advise!

SEO beginner- How to decide what keyword to go after?
I started a website called Think and Grow Entrepreneur. I'm not sure where to start with Keywords and which ones to go after. Should I input the same keywords over and over my blog to rank in those or should I look at every post as a single entity and try to rank different keywords in each blog. Ideally I would like to rank for the keyword Entrepreneur, but there are already very powerful companies with the same keyword. How should I go about this situation? I appreciate any feedback. Thanks!

No KWs to target and SEO value
Hello, I'm writing some on-going Q&A type blog posts and perform KW research for each post; however, there are a few where the question is not a popular topic at all and because of this, there are no KWs to target. I've checked a few sources. The question needs to be answered and i'm trying to get as much SEO value as i can. Just wondering how have you gone about this? Just answer the question and it will naturally target the long tail?
