Confusion about how SEOMOZ crawler works...
-
So according to my SEOMOZ dashboard, I'm ranking between #3-4 for one of my keywords.
My keyword is 'Boston Wedding Photographer'. My site is http://www.symbolphoto.com
I show up in google places, true. But i was wanting to rank organically. Am i right in the assumption that Google Places and Google Organic are not the same thing? SEOMOZ claims 3,4th but not organically(Assuming they aren't the same thing)
I get pretty good traffic right now being in Places, but i can't help but feel that organically ranking would bring more traffic.
Any suggestions or advice is greatly appreciated. TIA!

I would stop worrying and keep optimizing. I can't say specifically, but my guess is that all other things being equal, a good Places listing could potentially draw more attention. But who cares, keep building, keep promoting, keep marketing. Get exposure any and every way you can.

Russ, thank you for that insight. Well now the next question is, should i rely on Places or Organic? Are there any stats out there on whether more people click on places links vs. organic?
Or am i worrying about nothing? Which is completely possible.
-
Different ranking trackers handle this differently - some show places as organic, some don't. However, it is very, very rare for Google to show both an Organic and a Places listing for the same site, so it is possible that you are legitimately ranking for that term but the Places is showing instead.
I would defer to the places experts on this, though.

No (seomoz) crawler report since 7th may !!
Hi Mozteam, I added a site less than 200 pages in the tool "seomoz crawler", at May 7. We are May 15 and the tool always displays "crawl in progress." Do you have a problem about this tool? This is embarrassing ... Thank you for your reply. David France

SEOMOZ can we trust you?
I was thinking today what are the chances that SEOMOZ can look into my campaigns and see what keywords I am targeting, strategies etc. and then sell that information to others? There has to be some type of clause when you sign up correct? But who knows because I'm not sure. Having Rand and Matt Curts talking via twitter to each other kind of concerns me. Not that I'm worried that Google will know my strategies because we don't do any black-hat linking and anything shady but how much power does SEOMOZ really have and can they leak any information to other companies or Google? Scary stuff that's why I don't put all my eggs into one basket, I spread them out. Thoughts? Thanks in advance - Brett Shaffer

Why does SEOMoz crawler ignore robots.txt?
The SEOMoz crawler ignores robots.txt It also "indexes" pages marked as noindex. That means it is filling up the reports with things that don't matter. Is there any way to stop it doing that?

Title tag discrepancy - is this a Yoast or SEOMoz thing?
Just took on a WP site using Yoast - need help understanding the title tag. SEOMoz reports that the HP title tag is 159 characters, but there are only 60 characters entered in the plug-in field and GWT reports no "too long" title tags. Is this a Yoast thing?
