Alt tags

What options do I have if all my images are pulled in by
tags background images? It's a customized CMS and the designer put all images in the CSS so he would have more control over image size. I would like to somehow add description elements to the alt tags
Thank,
Eric

Thanks Alan,
He isn't using text-index:-9999, that's one plus. I don't know if it's an option to go back and re-size 3000 images. I agree with you, that would be the best option.

Well what you should not do,and i would check if your designer has done so, is place text in the divs and use text-index:-9999 to hide it, this is common on CMS sites, and google has stated that it is a spam signal.
I would go back to images, that is what they are for, you can rezize the images, there is no reason to use background

Too many Tags and Categories what should I do to clean this up?
Hello, Everyone! I am trying to do a clean up for one of my client sites. I'm noticing that the Categories and tags are way out of hand. It looks like random tags and categories were just added because they could be added. Are all of these tags and categories contributing to duplicate content? And if so What method should I go about to cleaning this up? The only thing that seems logical to me is rel=canonical. Thank you so much!

Adding Canonical Tags in WYSIWYG Section of Subscription Based Sites
Our company has a paid subscription-based site that only allows us to add HTML in the WYSIWYG section, not in the backend of each individual page. Because we are an e-commerce site, we have many duplicate page issues. Is there a way for us to add or hide the canonical code in the WYSIWYG section instead of us having to make all of our pages significantly different?

DeepCrawl Calls Incomplete Open Graph Tags and Missing Twitter Cards An Issue. How important is this?
Hi, Let me first say that I really like the tool DeepCrawl. So, not busting on them. More like I'm interested in the relative importance of two items they call as "Issues." Those items are "Incomplete Open Graph Tags" and "No Valid Twitter Cards." They call this out on every page. To define it a bit further, I'm interested in the importance as it relates to organic search.I'm also interested in there's some basic functionality we may have missed in our Share42 implementation. To me, it looks like the social sharing buttons work. Also, we use Share42 social sharing buttons, which are quite functional. If it would help, I could private message you an example url. Thanks! Best... Mike

I currently have a canonical tag pointing to a different url for single page categories on eCommerce site. Is this wrong ?
Hi Mozzers, I have a query regarding canonical tags on my eCommerce site.. Basically on my category pages whereby I have more than 1 page, I currently use next/prev rel and also have a canonical tag pointing to the View all version of that page. This is believe is correct.(see example - http://goo.gl/2gz6LV However, from looking at the view source on my other pages, I have noticed I have canonical tags on all my category pages which are only a single page and these canonicaltag are pointing to a different url. I enclose an example . Please advise Category page - http://goo.gl/Pk4zYl This is where the canonical tag points to - http://goo.gl/EwKv26 Another example Category Page - http://goo.gl/4gWTdD This is where the canonical tag for that page points to http://goo.gl/qm4HV7 Should I either make sure that categories that are only 1 page , don't have a canonical tag at all ? or do I have a canonical tag on say every page on my website for safety pointing to the main url for that page. The later, I imagine would be a belt and braces approach but I don't want to screw up anything if it's not advised? Please help/ Kind regards Pete
