Google description problem
-
Hi all,
My website is www.ipbskinning.com
I'm having a problem with how my site is appearing in google.
I have this in the head of my website:
<meta name='<a class="attribute-value">description</a>' content='<a class="attribute-value">Free and Custom IPB Skins for Invision Power Board.</a>'/>
Yet when I google 'ipbskinning' it says:
Solid Skins. 1We test all our skins in all browsers to insure that they are compatible. This ensures that your users have the best user experience.
which is random text from the content of my site.
Any idea why this is happening?
Thanks a lot all

Hm. You are well within the character limit for a description. Maybe try utilizing those remaining 20 characters to pump up the description.
What is Webmaster Tools saying? Any HTML suggestions, crawl errors, etc?

Ohh I see ok. That page has been active with that description for months

Unfortunately, there are no guarantees that Google will use your meta description in the SERPS. How long has the page been active? I once had to wait about 4 weeks for my descriptions to start showing up properly.

Canonical error from Google
Moz couldn't explain this properly and I don't understand how to fix it. Google emailed this morning saying "Alternate page with proper canonical tag." Moz also kinda complains about the main URL and the main URL/index.html being duplicate. Of course they are. The main URL doesn't work without the index.html page. What am I missing? How can I fix this to eliminate this duplicate problem which to me isn't a problem?

Impact of changing title and description.
When a site doesn't rank for keywords, is this advisable to keep changing the title, description and other on page factors of a page , say home page, until it ranks? Will that impact on improvement? Or else will it be counted in the negative side?

Problem with Google SERPS
I am running yoast SEO plugin in WP. I just noticed when I google the client, none of their meta data is showing. I see that I had facebook OG clicked, which looks like it made duplicates of all the titles etc. Would that be the problem? I have since turned it off. I am hoping that was the problem. Also, when the client searches it says in the meta desc - you've viewed this site many times". What is that?

Description and Title keyword Not showing in Google SERP?
It appears our description and title have disappeared in Goggle and Bing search results. We currently did a update to Magento 1.7 and the robots.txt included this: User-agent: * Disallow: / But that is fixed in Google Webmaster tools and everything else looks good. Here is the site: http://www.oxygenconcentratorstore.com/ Any help would be awesome. Thanks. google_serp.jpg

Google Webmaster Tools: Keywords
Hi SEOmozzers! I'm the Dr./owner/in-house SEO for my eye care practice. The URL is www.ofallonfamilyeyecare.com. Our practice is in O'Fallon, MO. Since I'm an optometrist, my main keywords are "optometrist o'fallon" and "o'fallon optometrist". As I get more familiarity with SEO, Google Analytics and Webmaster Tools, I've discovered the Keywords that Google feels best represent my website. About a week ago I noted Google counted 21 instances of "optometrist" on the 28-30 pages of my website, which ranks as #32 in the most common keywords. #1 is "eye" with 506 instances. Even though 21 occurrences seemed low, I went though every page adding "optometrist" a couple times in the body where it would naturally be appropriate. I also added it to the address shown on the footer of every page. I changed the top navigation option of "meet Dr. Hegyi" to "our optometrist". I must have added at least 4 occurrences to every page on my site, and submitted for a re-crawl. I even tried to scale back the "eye" occurrences on a few pages. Today I see that Google has re-crawled the site and the keywords have been updated. "Optometrist has DROPPED from #32 to #33. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions why I'm not seeing increased occurrence in Googles eyes? I realize this may not be a big factor in SERPs, but every bit of on-page optimization helps. Or is this too minor of an issue to sweat? Thanks!
