How to remove /index.html that causes duplicated content
-
Hi,
How to remove /index.html that causes duplicated content?
From my website navigation links, it does not shows the /index.html.However, when I run the seomoz crawl errors, it show duplicated content.
Can anyone tell me how to do it?

Well for a 301 redirect you can add the redirect to your .htaccess file. However I have never used Xsitepro to build a site but I assume you have access to the code behind the pages in which case you can place a canonical tag in the header of your index.html instead of the 301 redirect.
See this link on duplicate content and an explanation of the canonical tag is in there -

Hi Matt,
If I am using Xsitepro to do my site, is there any way to solve it from there?
Or do I have to add some codes to the .htacess file? -
Hi Benjamin - have a look at this Q&A from a few days ago, it will help you correct this.

Missing/Duplicate Content but it's definitely all right!

Whether or not to remove a link from a website with high spam score on Open Site Explorer
Hello Moz! I just subscribed for your Moz Pro program. Amazing stuff! On open site explorer, I found a number of links to my site from a page called with a very high page authority and high domain authority, but also a high spam score (8 or 9, one with a 10). I say multiple spam scores, because it's strange, there are what appears variations of the same url, and each one is considered a link. For instance, there's an abc.linkstomysite.com and xyz.linktomysite.com, and 123.linktomysite.com... there are about 15 of these (all with the spam scores mentioned above)! This must have been some old SEO work done I payed for back in the prehistoric SEO days. However, my fear is the following: Removing these links, and then losing some potentially strong link juice. I don't have many high DA or PA links to my site, and these are some major ones. The domain in question "linktomysite.com", when entered into OSE, only has a spam score of 4, and it has a domain authority of 45 and page authority of 37. My site has a spam score of 2 and no messages from google regarding a penalty, but an overall reduction in google traffic over the years (just keeps slowly dropping... as if a weight is pulling me down?) What do you think, should I leave, or remove? The linkstomysite page is just a LONG page full of links, with short descriptions, nothing of value, but with a an old domain age (relatively). Most important for me is keeping at least some ranking/visibility, while I personally work on building quality links and helpful content. thanks!

15-20 images on a page / Alt Tag them or not with the keyword phrase?
I have a site that easily has 15-20 images per product page, giving the users ideas of what they can do with the product design. All of them have an alt tag with the keyword phrase in it. There is also an H1, H2, sometimes an H3, body copy with the keyword phrase 1-3 times, bold when it seems like a good time to emphasize it. Just in the images alone, we've exceeded the recommended 15 keyword phrases on a page. Moz On Page Grader says the following: Avoid Keyword Stuffing in Document We've seen evidence that excessive use of keywords can negatively impact rankings and thus suggest moderation. Recommendation: Remove instances of the targeted keyword(s) from the document text of this page to bring it below 15 What's the recommendation for the image alt tags? We'd like the images to show up in Google Images, so they should have the tag, right? What's the right way to handle this for SEO purposes? Someone's suggested naming 1/2 of the images one keyword phrase, and the other 1/2 an altogether different one, not searched nearly as often as the primary keyword phrase.

How can a site not indexed on google still have 40+ Page Authority on OpenSiteExplorer?
Hey guys, I was revisiting the backlinks to my site and found a few that were not indexed on Google anymore. I confirmed this by typing site:"SiteAddress" in google and it retuned 0 result. Yet when i searched the same site on OSE (OpenSiteExplorer) yielded me a PA of over 40. I used to research sites on OSE to see if they are worth pursuing for a backlink but i am second guessing this because of this recent finding. Can someone please shed some light on this? Thanks!

Duplicate page reported in Wordpress site, but I can't find it in All Pages list
In a crawl report a duplicate page content warning has been displayed. The two urls are 1. http://www.superheroes.com.au/shop
Moz Pro | | Andyfools
and
2. http://www.superheroes.com.au/shop/category/catalog/ It's a WordPress site and I cannot find the second page anywhere in the list of All Pages in the Admin (I want to add canonicalisation code) When I view the 2nd page and click Edit Page, it redirects to the 1st page. Any ideas where SEOMoz would be finding this 2nd page or how it might be being generated? (btw I didn't build this site) Thanks Simon0 -
Can't find duplicate page content
Hi all. I'm trying to create a report to list all of my site's duplicate content that SEOmoz says we have. However when I click on the link it just shows me the title and description of the page. I don't know what the other page is that has duplicate content or what the duplicate content is. Where do I find this information? Thanks in advance!

SEOmoz indicating duplicate page content on one of my campaigns
Hello All, Alright, according to SEOmoz's PRO campaign manager, one of my websites is returning about 2,700 pages that supposedly have duplicate content. I checked a few of them manually and am not seeing where the issue lies. Is anyone else experiencing something similar to this and do you know if it is just a glitch with the crawl? Here are 2 of the pages it is indicating have dup page content: http://www.dieselpowerproducts.com/c-3120-1994-98-59l-12v-dodge-cummins-carbon-fiber-hoods.aspx http://www.dieselpowerproducts.com/c-90-dodge-cummins-94-02-59l-12v24v.aspx Any insight would be greatly appreciated! -Craig

Duplicate page error from SEOmoz
SEOmoz's Crawl Diagnostics is complaining about a duplicate page error. I'm trying to use a rel=canonical but maybe I'm not doing it right. This page is the original, definitive version of the content: https://www.borntosell.com/covered-call-newsletter/sent-2011-10-01 This page is an alias that points to it (each month the alias is changed to point to the then current issue): https://www.borntosell.com/covered-call-newsletter/latest-issue The alias page above contains this tag (which is also updated each month when a new issue comes out) in the section: Is that not correct? Is the https (vs http) messing something up? Thanks!
