Will giving a blogger an affiliate url to my site reduce her links' seo value to me?

If a blogger were to write a post about one of my products and link to my product page, would giving her an affiliate url to link to rather than the normal link spoil the seo value of the link?
So instead of
it would be
mysite.com/affiliate/blogger/product-one
Google would think... this is a transaction not a vote of confidence?

It's a strange one, though, they have a new URL but I wonder if they treat it as duplicate content?

They will still pass juice, but they will pass it to the wrong page - namely the one with the affiliate id in it. And then, you might even get a situation where that page ends up ranking in the search engines over your own. The affiliate will certainly be happy with that of course, but you probably won't be
A workaround would be to 301 redirect the user as soon as you've recorded the affiliate and they've hit that page. It's slightly less valuable than a direct link to mysite.com/product-one but it's better than a link to the affiliate page.

Then it is a followed link and will pass the link juice.

As long as the link has a "DO Follow" attribute it will pass link juice. If you do not want to pass link juice use the "no follow" attribute. In other words. However usually affiliate links do not pass the link juice only direct.

How to flag inbound affiliate links to Search Engines
Afternoon Mozzers, I was chatting to our VP of marketing earlier about one of our sites with a somewhat unhealthy looking link profile. This is primarily caused by the sector its in and the fact that lots of low quality lead generators / affiliates operate there, sending traffic to us in return for payment on accepted leads. Now, he recalled that there is a way to mark these inbound links, through a URL parameter he thought, as being affiliates and therefore should be ignored as we don’t want them misinterpreted as an attempt to manipulate our rankings. I have been doing a spot of research but can't find a straight answer. heres a few articles i looked at: blogaid, Yoast, Webmaster world and the Moz Q&A.The problem is all these are from the perspective of a site linking out and acting as an affiliate, so all deal with that page not losing PR. The two methods i have derived from this boil down to: No follow the links Use an intermediary redirect page and script which you can block from robots.txt So, back to our case - Are there any ways we can signal to Search engines, as the destination site, that these links are from affiliates (such as this URL parameter our VP had vague recollections off) or should i just get in touch and ask the sites to make them Nofollow? How many characters will Google read in a header space on a page?
We heard that Google will read about 2,000 characters in a page header. We are using DoubleClick and need to insert more than 2,000 characters in each page header. Any insight?! Thanks!

Where to look for relevant links
I and many others are targeting keywords such as "free iphone" or "free ps3" as part of incentive marketing schemes that offer rewards for referring new users to businesses. These often seem too good to be true but actually do work (if you don't get caught up in the spam sites). The thing is, what sort of link building should I be looking at once I have my site showing the users how the opportunity works and that it is a legitimate site. I don't want to have free iphone links placed where people may think I'm scamming them, so should I look at press releases, creating infographics or what? I look forward to hearing some of your ideas...

I need some feedback on the value of affiliate aggregators like Link Share
My company decided to start a Link Share affiliate program at the beginning of this year. I've had serious reservations about the value of the program since the beginning but was overruled. Here are my concerns: The majority of publishers seem to be coupon scraper sites or borderline link farms I am told the biggest revenue earners in our network are publishing articles about my company with links back to our site but if they are Google Alerts sure isn't finding them and a manual search hasn't turned up anything either. This makes me think these publishers are using some sort of unsavory way to drive traffic to our site or maybe even cookie traffic that was coming to our site anyway in order to get credit for the sale. Most of all I'd like to hear from anyone else who has used Link Share in the past. Secondly I realize there's not a lot of information here but I'm wondering if this passes the smell test for anyone else. Any feedback would be appreciated.

What are your biggest focuses for Internet Marketing in 2012? New Year's Goal?
We have seen a lot of shifting and movement in the search engines as of late. So I am curious as to what people are setting their sights on for 2012. And perhaps a top 3 would be appreciated. In search of the perfect SEO affiliate ID'd URL
Hi, I'm building our own affilaite system. I want to make sure I get as much SEO benifit from affiliate links as possible so I am in search of the perfect solution. My thoughts after doing a bit of research are to do the following - using the # as my identifier: 1/. Use an ID like www.mysite.com/#A123 2/.
