WP File Permissions
-
After suffering a malware episode I wonder if there is an optimum setting for the file permissions for a typical Wordpress site?

Thanks very much George.
I had spotted that but wondered if anyone had any other permutation that had worked for them.
I think I'll follow the settings suggested on that page.
Cheers,
Colin

Hi Colin,
Take a look at this page on the Wordpress.org site. The link should take you right to the file permissions section.
Hope this helps!

Regex in Disavow Files?
Hi, Will Regex expressions work in a disavow file? If i include website.com/* will that work or would you recommend just website.com? Thanks.

Lately I have noticed Google indexing many files on the site without the .html extension
Hello, Our site, while we convert, remains in HTML 4.0. Fle names such as http://www.sample.com/samples/index.shtml are being picked up in the SERPS as http://www.sample.com/samples/ even when I use the "rel="canonical" tag and specify the full file name therein as recommended. The link to the truncated URL (http://www.sample.com/samples/) results in what MOZ shows as fewer incoming links than the full file name is shown as having incoming. I am not sure if this is causing a loss in placement (the MOZ stats are showing a decline of late), which I have seen recently (of course, I am aware of other possible reasons, such as not being in HTML5 yet). Any help with this would be great. Thank you in advance

Is there a way to keep sitemap.xml files from getting indexed?
Wow, I should know the answer to this question. Sitemap.xml files have to be accessible to the bots for indexing they can't be disallowed in robots.txt and can't block the folder at the server level. So how can you allow the bots to crawl these xml pages but have them not show up in google's index when doing a site: command search, or is that even possible? Hmmm

Seo Booster Pro WP Plugin
Hi guys, We used this plugin with good results in the past - http://cleverplugins.com/shop/seo-booster-pro/. Basically, the plugin checks the incoming traffic and when it sees traffic from Google evaluates the SERP where it's coming from. If the keyword was placed on the second page, it automatically ads a link in the sidebar pointing to the article page. The anchor of the link is the actual keyword. This way, the link gets a bit of extra juice and most of the times it gets bumped to the first page. We would like to use something similar to our ecom shops. We need to custom program it as it does not exist as a pre-made plugin. We have a concern though - one of the points of the last Google updates addressing link juice and authority manipulation. Please let me know if you use any related SEO technique (or even this plugin) and what are your thoughts on implementing a such tools on an ecomm site. Thanks in advance

Are htm files stronger than aspx files?
Hello All, I once read that htm files are considered stronger (SEO wise) than aspx files and I wondered if that is correct. Obviously, I mean the static part of aspx files for example making my about us page in htm and not aspx. Among the advantages of aspx is the usage of a master page (a template) for the design etc. Any thoughts? Thanks

Prowling report says "duplicate titles" for wp-login.php
Hi there, How are you guys doing? I have a quick question. The last prowling report we received said we have three pages with "duplicate titles". Those three pages are: /wp-login.php wp-login.php?action=lostpassword /wp-login.php?action=register I'm a little confused because those pages don't even have a title. Do you think it's a big deal? Also do you have any idea of why the prowling report says those pages have duplicate titles? Apparently, wp-login.php is part of the Wordpress core. It's a built-in page that
