Domain authority is one of the most difficult metrics to influence.
Good quality inbound links from sites with good domain authority and mozTrust is one of the biggest factors in increasing domain auth, therefore you should consider the following....
1. Build good content, i'm sure you have read it a thousand times before on here and many other forums, but good quality content and being active through social channels is by far the best and most sustainable way of building inbound links and ultimately influencing domain auth.
2. Ensure you are listed with the "good" directories such as DMoz, Yelp, Yahoo etc, these are no where near as powerful in terms of link juice as they once were, but you should still be on them.
3. Embark on a traditional link building strategy, but ensuring you don't build spammy links and ensure you have anchor text diversity (ie don't try and keyword stuff anchor text)
4. Use tools such as SEOmoz's newly acquired followerwonk to find influencers in your industry who are likely to be interested in your site and connect and interact with them to see if you can get them to link/retweet your content.
Of the above the biggest gain for the least amount of work is likely to be item 2, registering with directories, but sadly there is no magic bullet for increasing domain auth, but then again, if there was, everyone would be doing it!!
You may also want to check out the SEOmoz explanation of "what is domain authority?" for an indepth explanation of how domain auth is calculated.

Domain authority is slightly like an average page rank on your whole site try to build up quality backlinks on pages that have a low page authority as well as continue to build domain popularity on social sites

Domain Masking SEO Impact
I hope I am explaining this correctly. If I need to provide any clarity please feel free to ask. We currently use a domain mask on an external platform that points back to our site. We are a non-profit and the external site allows users to create peer-to peer fundraisers that benefit our ministry. Currently we get many meta issues related to this site as well as broken links when fundraisers expire etc. We do not have a need to rank for the information from this site. Is there a way to index these pages so that they are not a part of the search engine site crawls as it relates to our site?

English and French under the same domain
A friend of mine runs a B&B and asked me to check his freshly built website to see if it was SEO compliant.

The B&B is based in France and he's targeting a UK and French audience. To do so, he built content in english and french under the same domain:
https://www.la-besace.fr/ When I run a crawl through screamingfrog only the French content based URLs seem to come up and I am not sure why. Can anyone enlighten me please? To maximise his business local visibility my recommendation would be to build two different websites (1 FR and 1 .co.uk) , build content in the respective language version sites and do all the link building work in respective country sites. Do you think this is the best approach or should he stick with his current solution? Many thanks1 -

Redirect root domain to www
I've been having issues with my keyword rankings with MOZ and this is what David at M0Z asked me to do below. Does anyone have a solution to this? I'm not 100% sure what to do. Does it hurt ranking to have a domain at the root or not? Can I 301 redirect a whole site or do I have to do individual pages. "Your campaign is looking for rankings for the www version of the campaign but the URL resolves as a root domain. This would explain the discrepancy. Since there is no re-direct between the two, you can have brickmarkers.com 301 re-direct to www.site.com which will prevent you from re-creating your campaign to track the root domain. Once the re-direct is in place it will take a while for Google to show the www version in the results in which your campaign rankings will be accurate." Thanks

Multiple Domains on 1 IP Address
We have multiple domains on the same C Block IP Address. Our main site is an eCommerce site, and we have separate domains for each of the following: our company blog (and other niche blogs), forum site, articles site and corporate site. They are all on the same server and hosted by the same web-hosting company. They all have unique and different content. Speaking strictly from a technical standpoint, could this be hurting us? Can you please make a recommendation for the best practices when it comes to multiple domains like these and having separate or the same IP Addresses? Thank you!
