Strange video site adding unwanted links.
-
Today I was checking our backlink profile and noticed a lot of strange back links coming from grosezinga.com apparently this site is some type of search engine for videos, and it somehow pulls videos from Youtube, and Daily Motion, and adds them to the grosezinga search engine.
I have never placed a link on this site, I do not want a link there, and I never even knew it existed until today. We do have video tutorials on the web, and somehow this site has pulled them from our video page without our permission, and added them to this site.
Anyone ever had this problem, should I ask for them to be removed? When I do a Google video search my url is showing up on about a hundred different videos that are not ours. I don't want to be accused of building unnatural links.

Hey Tina,
I actually wouldn't worry too much about this, for a couple of reasons. Firstly, the site isn't actually linking to you from the video pages with an
-
Oh the joys of large uninformed support teams. It's almost like talking to google!
-
To top it off they just sent me this "
Hi,
In order to handle your request, could you please send us the precise url of the video on Dailymotion ?
Regards,
Dailymotion Team.
My reply "
Hi I contacted you guys this morning, I own and produced the video in question.
What I explained this morning is that somehow this website
http://www.grosezinga.com/624073b/769f1f194bf0598deb7465ea0.htmlwas taking my videos from your website and posting it on there website. I
own the videos in question. I made them, I did not want the video removed from your site just the
feed stopped from the offending site however, you guys got my email confused, and thought I was reporting my own videos as being not mine. Then I receive an email from you guys stating that my account was terminated due to a complaint. I have not broken any rules I produced the content in question, and I filed the complaint, but not against myself.
You suspended the wrong account I am the one who filed the complaint, and contacted you in the first place. So I can't send you a link to my videos because my account is now suspended. Please unsuspend my account.
Thank you

I think I will stick to Youtube and Vimeo from now on.
-
That probably shows how many complaints they get for copyright issues if they just take down accounts without even reading the complaint properly. How stupid of them.
-
So I get a reply from Daily Motion the site I added the videos to it states:
Some or all of the elements composing your video, "Add this social buttons for zencart," have been flagged as infringing upon the intellectual property rights of a third party (e.g. author, producer, artist, etc.). It has been removed at the request of one or more of the rights holders.
I WAS THE ONE THAT CONTACTED THEM LOL!
I guess they thought I was reporting my own videos??
I sent this back to them : Ok I believe there is some confusion here I contacted you this morning, I own and produced the video in question.

If they don't then look at filing a DMCA request with Google. They are a bit of a pain, but rather effective. Details of that here:

Well I have sent them, and Godaddy a take down notice, and contacted the video site in which they got the information from lets hope I hear something in return.

Hi Tina,
It doesn't look like this site is actually linking to you, but using your URL as a profile name (no link). Slightly better, but still annoying.
If you look at the cache of this page here it shows why it thinks you URL is on that page: - look under suggestions. If you can't immediately see it then ctrl+f then search for your domain name.
By the looks of it you are going to need to get them to remove that. Presumably they are also using your material without permissions. Accord to this page; http://www.grosezinga.com/dmca-policy/ they will take down content once you notify them, but it is really out of order that they work on a "steal first, remove if asked later" basis.
Hope that helps a bit.

What is the best way to become a published writer / blogger for bigger industry sites?
I'm a younger SEO manager and wanted to started establishing my name throughout the industry through well written blogs, expert articles, and any advice that is needed. I know a lot of answers will be to start my own blog and establish that and I'll get noticed, but is there a good way to make the first contact with industry sites to get an article or blog post published to their site? Or is it a pretty tight "gotta know someone" inner circle?

SEO Guidelines for Partner Links
We decided to follow an aggressive strategy with cross linking. We have cross linked all all the 6 different brands just above the header of a News Portal. You could see what i mean here www.in.gr

Do you think that i should enable the nofollow so as not to get penalized by Google. We tend to use the same cross network linking scheme (in the header) for all branded sites. Google’s guidance on link schemes doesn’t specifically address these types of partner links, which don’t really fit the mold for “excessive link exchanging.” Thoughts appreciated.0 -
Bing beats google to disavow links
You can now disavow bad links in Bing WMT, google has stated they will be doing the same, this should shake up the rankings when many sites get penalties lifted http://www.bing.com/community/site_blogs/b/webmaster/archive/2012/06/27/disavow-links-you-don-t-trust.aspx

LinkSmart Raises $4.7M to Dynamically Change Links
LinkSmart is a startup trying to put a new spin on link management by providing a platform to dynamically change links. They just raised $4.7M, and TechCrunch posted a quick blurb on them here that is worth reading. In short, the application will allow a site owner to change all of the text links on their site in real-time. The idea is that this will help improve click-through rates, optimize traffic, etc. How do you guys see this from an SEO perspective? It seems a bit scary from an indexing standpoint if links are never consistent. Also, the flow of link juice will be inconsistent. Any thoughts?

Subdomains seen as one site
Earlier this month Google announced that sub-domains are now
Industry News | | AlanMosley
be treated as one site. At first I thought this was good news as I like to use
sub-domains for separation of categories and the like. But what about links
from one sub-domain to the other, they uised to be external links now they are
internal links. If you don’t have many external links, I would say that the
cross sub-domain links would have been important, if you have a lot of external
links then the flow of link juice would be of more benefit. I think overall its
is a good thing. Does anyone have any opinions about this or know of any writings
on the subject since this announcement? http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2011/08/reorganizing-internal-vs-external.html0 -
Schedule for Panda / Farmer Update rollout for non English sites?
Hey Mozzers, I just read about the global rollout of googles Panda/Farmer Update for English queries, e.g. at searchengineland. Has anyone read something about when google is planning to roll out the update for non-English speaking countries, i.e. queries in other languages? I googled a bit but couldn't find anything, not even speculations. Cheers, Frank
