Web Management Training
-
I am looking to become educated in some web management, i.e. IIS, SSL, and DB management. Does anyone know where to look to get started?
-
Well in any scope of IT training I think a sandbox is always essential... Some cheap hosting on a similar environment for a trial period might be worth investing in to learn the ropes initially. If you know your linux hosting then you should be able to adapt to an MS environment fairly quick.

Use IIS 7 on our server, .net cms (DNN), sql 2008,
-
What OS are you using?
-
Yes. I went to a meeting today with our Network engineer to get him to do some things from the IIS, then it occurred to me that I need that information. I need the ability to go in and manage the servers. But I also know that I will break it if I do not know what I am doing. So any help is great. I am looking for self paced items, or continuing education programs. But I truely do not know where to begin. Everything I look for starts me out trying to lean web design, which I have. Now I need backend education.

Not at all, like I said, apologies for being presumptuous. Im guessing you want information on SSL and DB on an IIS platform?

I have been in this position for a few years. This is an area that has always been grey to me and I want to learn more. Forgive me for the lack of meat, I didn't think it was needed with all of the web developers here. So I take it you do not know where to get information or were you just commenting to get the free 3 moz points?
-
Judging by the lack of meat on this post you have just started a new position that you dont know much about? Apologies if im presumptuous on this

Managing 404 Product Pages
Happy Friday! I'm managing an Ecommerce site that has tons of product pages showing up as 404s. These product pages also have ridiculous query strings. I wanted to know how other webmasters deal with inactive product pages. Thanks!

Project Management SaaS for Non Profit
While attending a STEM conference I met the Chief Strategy Officer for a program that works with disadvantaged high school students to provide both counseling and financial assistance to allow them to go to college. Many students from lower socio economic backgrounds grow up believing college is not something they will be able to do for a myriad of reasons.

From this we are working with them to improve their database management and general functionality of systems so that they can increase the number of students they assist and improve their delivery system. To now they have had an archaic paper plus database that they must call the developer to run reports etc plus various CRM programs like SalesForce. Needless to say it is a massive time suck for those who work very hard to serve this group of kids. The cool thing is that in spite of innumerable hurdles, they have gotten 1000's of kids into college who otherwise would never have gone. I believe they would be much better served with a Project Management System like a BaseCamp, Active Collab, etc. I am curious if anyone has used a program like that in this way and more importantly, I am wondering if any of you know someone at one of the major Proj. Mgmt. companies that I might be able to persuade to assist this group? I would be willing to offer free services to the software company, etc. if that would help. So, I am really hoping some of you in the Moz Universe will do a bit of digging and checking and offer me (really the program) some assistance with this. Thanks1 -

I answer many questions here in Q&A. Instead of helping one individual, I thought this would help many newbies understand how Google uses human raters for web search. Watch Matt and learn why you should not SPAM or make sorry titles. http://youtu.be/nmo3z8pHX1E?hd=1 I hope this short video helps you! Leave a comment if you wish.

Does anyone know if there are UK SEOMoz training courses I can attend?
I'd really like to find a one-day course where I could have it all explained and all my questions answered. I've been using SEOMoz for a month or so but I have many unanswered questions and feel that the user guide doesn't explain things, it just tells you what you can do, but not necessarily why.
