Crawl Diagnostics Warnings - Duplicate Content
-
Hi All,
I am getting a lot of warnings about duplicate page content. The pages are normally 'tag' pages.
I have some news stories or blog posts tagged with multiple 'tags'.
Should I ask google not to index the tag pages? Does it really affect my site?
Thanks

Thanks Marcus.
It is wordpress I am using and already have the Yoast WP plugin. I'll try nondexing the author and date taxonomies too.
I have done so with the tags but they still show up on the SEOmoz report.
Good idea about varying the categories - will give that a go and see if anything changes

Hey Stacey
It all depends on how these tag pages are used and whether they factor as landing pages or are just a tool for people to view related content once on the site.
Are you using WordPress? If so, WordPress features a bunch of taxonomies, tags being one and where you have posts by a single author they may be duplicated on the homepage, date archive, author archive, categories, sub categories and tags so you can end up with a lot of pages that look pretty much the same.
This is fairly straightforward to resolve though and if you just install the Yoast WordPress SEO plugin and then noindex any pages that are really just for users to browse you can ensure your important pages remain indexed and there is not lots of duplication or competition.
Really, it is more than a technical problem and it comes down to how you organise your posts and content on the blog and a default blog root and specific indexed category pages (ideally with some additional, unique content) can work best (but again, the specifics depends on the blog and the content).
Anyhow, it is an easy change, try no indexing the tags, date archives, author archives etc and using some smart category organisation and see if it moves the dial at all for you. You can always put things back if you don't find it helps.
Hope that helps!
Marcus

Duplicate Content errors - not going away with canonical
I am getting Duplicate Content Errors reported by Moz on search result pages due to parameters. I went through the document on resolving Duplicate Content errors and implemented the canonical solution to resolve it. The canonical in the header has been in place for a few weeks now and Moz is still showing the pages as Duplicate Content despite the canonical reference. Is this a Moz bug? http://mathematica-mpr.com/news/?facet={81C018ED-CEB9-477D-AFCC-1E6989A1D6CF}

Canonical URLs and Duplicate Page Content
My website (doctor directory) is getting a lot of duplicate page content & duplicate page title warnings from SEOmoz. The pages that are getting the warnings are doctors profiles which can be accessed at three different URLs. Problem is this should be handled by the canonical tag on the pages. So example below, all three open the same page: https://www.arzttermine.de/arzt/dr-sara-danesh/ https://www.arzttermine.de/arzt/dr-sara-danesh/gkv https://www.arzttermine.de/arzt/dr-sara-danesh/pkv Here's our canonical tag (on line 34): rel="canonical" href="http://www.arzttermine.de/arzt/dr-sara-danesh" /> So why is SEO moz crawling the page? We are getting hundreds of errors from this - and yet Google doesn't have any of the duplicate URLs indexed...

Crawl Diagnostics - unexpected results
I received my first Crawl Diagnostics report last night on my dynamic ecommerce site. It showed errors on generated URLs which simply are not produced anywhere when running on my live site. Only when running on my local development server. It appears that the Crawler doesn't think that it's running on the live site. For example http://www.nordichouse.co.uk/candlestick-centrepiece-p-1140.html will go to a Product Not Found page, and therefore Duplicate Content errors are produced. Running http://www.nhlocal.co.uk/candlestick-centrepiece-p-1140.html produces the correct product page and not a Product Not Found page Any thoughts?

How to Fix the Errors with Duplicate Title or Content?
The latest Crawl Diagnostic has found 160 Errors on my site.
Moz Pro | | hanmark
And my error is, that the same content or title is used on two different! pages:
on both my root domain (han-mark.com) and the www subdomain. What does it matter (with or without www)? How serious is that error? Do I need to fix all the errors (and hundreds of warnings too)? What's the best practice? Is there any Guide on how to do it
or Tools for doing it the fast way? Viggo Joergensen0 -
Duplicate Content being caused by home page?
Hello everyone, I am new to SEOmoz and SEO in general and I have a quick questions. When running a SEO Web Crawler report on my URL, I noticed in the report that my home page (also known as my index page) was listed twice. Here is what the report was showing: www.example.com/ www.example.com/index.php So are these 2 different urls? If so, is this considered duplicate content and should I block crawler access to the index.php? Thanks in advance for the help!

Help Understanding Crawl results on this site
I'm just starting to SEO this site http://thefirmbusinessbrokerage.com/welcome and I'm having trouble with the crawl report data. First question, should I be building links to the site above or the main page http://thefirmbusinessbrokerage.com/ (which is a flash intro). If I build links to the flash page, what do I do to the forwarding URL to the welcome page to make it effective? Second question, why does the crawl data report show up almost completely blank? Is this site perfect or are there some onsite issues that I'm not seeing. Thanks for your support and guidance on this site. I'm not hosting the site, just building links and offering optimization advice onsite. JOE
