Why do links appear then disappear month to month?
-
What I mean by this is, a link to my site shows up in the August mozscape crawl, then the next month it doesn't, but its still an active link on the website.
Once a site is crawled, shouldn't it always be there from now on?

If you need more complete backlink data for your site, use Google Webmaster Tools and/or Bing Webmaster Tools.

Thanks for the responses. I find it very frustrating that it acts the way it does. Makes it very difficult to explain to the bosses and to give the data any real value. Though I understand the challenges of it all.
Which is why I usually just talk about rankings, if we're beating our competitors in the rankings, then really who cares if they are supposedly beating us in domain authority and such other factors.

Also, SEOmoz doesn't necessarily crawl the same set of URLs each month. Even if index sizes are the same, some URLs get dropped and some added each month.

Rand said on the latest update that
"This index is about 9 billion URLs smaller than our prior September index: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/september-mozscape-update-is-live, so on average, seeing raw link counts drop ~8.5% wouldn't be surprising."
He also said they would like to get to 150B urls but may get down into the 40B range until some issues are sorted.

I would say that's the difference you're seeing.

Links to Your Site: No Data Available in Google Search Console
The site I am working on did not have their site submitted to Google Search Console (formerly Google Webmaster Tools). I submitted the site and a sitemap that auto updates. Google is crawling the site daily (about 30 pages a day). Under Search Traffic > Links to Your Site it shows no data is availible. I thought it was because it was a newly submitted site, but it has been two months now. Moz seems to have the same issue. Moz does show inbound links, but their are some that we think should really help us that are not shown. For instance, the Dallas Morning News wrote this article. They have a high DA and PA. Also, iliveindallas.com has an article about us that is still on the front page. That was a few weeks ago but also does not show up on Moz or Google SC. We are trying to be selective about the links we are getting. That they are follow links from reputable sites. Worried that both Google and Moz are not showing them.

Find a 4xx or 5xx link referenced in an SEO Crawl Report
So I just got the Crawl Diagnostics report for a client site and it came back with a number of 4xx errors and even 1 5xx error. So while I can find the URL that has the problem, I cannot find the pages that have the links pointing to these non-existent or problematic pages. Normally I would just search the database for the site, but in this case I don't have access to it as the site is on a proprietary platform with no access other than to the CMS. Is there anyway to get the linking URL from the report? Thanks!

Can open site explorer miss incoming links?
In open site explorer I only see one linking domain, eventhough I know of at least 1 other. Why is that?

Broken links in the pdf of the On Page Report
Hi, I run an individual On Page report for a particular URL, then I export as pdf. The URL appears in the pdf and looks fine but when you click on it it goes to a 'page not found'. I know the URL is correct. When I hover over the URL in the pdf i notice that the word 'Good' is at the end of my URL but I did not put this in there. if I give the report to a client it doesn't look so good. http://www.narellanpools.com.au/local-contact/narellan-pools-alburywodongaGood Is this a bug? Cheers Virginia

SEOmoz not displaying correct amount of links?
When I go to the link analysis page where ti shows how many links my site has and how many my competitors have...it shows that I have 0 links. But Google Webmaster Tools shows my site as having 149 links. Is this a glitch with zeomoz or whats going on? The reason I initially subscribed to seomoz was to track my links. Thanks

What are followed vs non-followed links in Domain Analyis report?
I'm new to SEOMoz and wondering if some nice person can put this into plain English for me? 🙂 On the Competitive Domain Analysis report there are green follow / no-follow links and blue followed / non-followed linking root domains? what is the context of the green & blue circles? is there a better or worse visual representation that I should aim for - more dark green, more light green or about half & half. thanks in advance

Several DA 70+ websites linked to me, not showing in OSE
Like the title says, about 3 weeks ago several websites linked to me. Those websites have very high and probably 100% of this board has heard of them. I'm wondering how long it takes for OSE to recognize these links, and if my website's DA and mozTrust will increase as a result?

How can the differences between Moz and Majestic's link totals be explained?
Hello, Newbie here so this might be a really daft question.... We've a few accounts and are trialling different software - across a few campaigns, we're seeing big differences in link numbers from different software (namely Moz and Majestic). I'm assuming there is a really good reason for it - just can't find what it is! Thanks in advance!
