Why does SEO Moz say we are ranked lower than appears on Google Searches?

We are currently ranked 18th for the Sydney Vet keyword in SEO Moz ranking tools, however in organic Google search we are ranked third. This search was conducted without Googles personalised results feature.

Is this just an error? Or does it have something to do with Google Places not being counted in SEO Moz ranking tools?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Have you checked out our Help Hub page about rankings at http://www.seomoz.org/help/rankings? It offers several reasons why what you see and what we report may be different. Hope that helps!

I believe it only counts ranking placements from Universal search results. Have a read of this page http://www.seomoz.org/help/rankings

Added Maximum keywords on Moz Pro - Updated our SERP and optimized metas for all our products on Bookscardsnbikes. We are sorting out bad backlinks - and have google ads + and boosting our seo. And yet - no traffic or customers [minimal] Have been a business for one year. In short: can you take a look at our moz [Site Audit] and explain what we're missing to get our company off of the ground. We are more than okay with criticism - it helps us grow. Our layout and site design is completely fine and what we want. But we think its just a matter of being a new site that we aren't getting the amount of business we COULD have. Why does moz give different page authority to the same page if a visit comes from adwords vs organic search?

When clicking on an adwords ad the page the landing page has a page authority of 26. When clicking on organic search to the same exact landing page the page authority is 37. Why is this. Does moz or, more importantly Google see these as the same or separate pages? Thanks Tom

Better link metrics, but lower rank??

Hello to all, new member here from Houston. I'm learning a lot! I've brought my site up some but my chief competitor is still at #1 position. I ran a full SERP report for my top keyword. My site appears to rank better on: Page Authority…Domain Authority…MozRank…MozTrust...DmT/DmR… Additionally, his on-page grade is F, mine is B! So, it appears sheer bulk incoming links are really where it's at. He beats me, somewhat, at URL Link Counts, also on Followed External Links. The real difference appears to be External Links to This Domain: I have 65, he has somehow managed to get 3500…I think his webmaster has a local directory where everybody links to each other…I can't imagine how a small biz like this, in a fairly non-competitive industry, could get that many. Anyway, thought I'd bring this up for comments/clarifications, if anyone has any---Also, is there a resource to understand these various parameters. Thanks--- John in Houston

I would like to know if it's possible to see (maybe in my Google Analytics) if SEO Moz has crawled my website. I'm also curious if and where I can see when the robot of Google visited my website. Thanks!

What's the future of SERP Tracking? And... Is SEOMoz's SERP Rank Tracking in compliance with Google Adwords API Terms of Service?

My question is: Is SEOMoz's SERP Rank Tracking in compliance with Google Adwords API Terms of Service? Background: The reason I ask is because Raven Tools is now removing their SERP Reporting tool because it uses scraped Google position data. So, it looks like SEO's will either have to find a new rank tracking tool or find new ways to traffic the effects that rankings have on a website traffic volumes. For instance, there is a way to get the position a search results was in Google when it was clicked. We could create a secondary profile in Google Analytics for each client and use a custom filter to record the position that the keywords was in when the search result was clicked ( http://www.seomoz.org/blog/show-keyword-position-using-filters-and-advanced-segments ) Or perhaps we'll have to use Google Webmaster Tools' SEO Report to get data somehow ( http://support.google.com/analytics/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1308626 ) What are your thoughts on this? As you know, ranking data is still a great way to show clients if they are gaining or losing visibility in the search engines. It helps SEO's to report how effective their efforts have been. Because other ranking software companies uses Adwords API data to show the keyword search volume and advertiser competition of a keyword, they can not or eventually will not be able to use scraped ranking data any more. But, if another rank tracking tool out there doesn't need to be in compliance with the Adwords API TOS because they don't use that API to show search volume and advertiser competition, they can still technically provide their ranking data and not be violating any TOS, right? I'm just trying to understand the best way to continue reporting impact of organic keyword rankings on a website. Does the SEOMoz SERP Tracker comply with Adwords API? Is there another rank tracking tool out there that already is using Average Position data from the GWT SEO Report tool? Should we all just stop reporting rankings to clients altogether? Scott

Anyone know when is the new SEO moz Rank Tracker tool coming? Getting a little flustered with the rank tracker tool, its bit annoying doing one by one. 😞

Moz Trust

I saw a severe drop in MozTrust for multiple sites I am working on. We have added some links this month, but would be considered 'spammy' or to be low quality. No other links appear to have been lost / removed. If we had some very high quality links before and have added some mid-level links can this be what is causing the drop? From the description on SEOmoz, it seemed to me that trust could only go up as links were added. It appears that I am missing something.

Local search block seems to mess up ranking calculations!

Time and time again i see SEO moz come out with a new rankings report and tell me that I've gone up or down in the rankings by 9 and I get really excited. Then i go look at the search and once agian we are in the exact same position! What it seems like is sometimes SEO Moz decides to count the local search block, and other times it decides not too. Is there any way to fix this? To make it always count the local search block would be preferred.
