Any SEOMoz users try HitTail?
-
I just discovered the Pro Perks on SEOMoz and noticed HitTail:
HitTail tells you, in real-time, the most promising search terms you should target based on your existing traffic. We do this using a sophisticated algorithm tuned by analyzing over 1.2 billion keywords.
I think this could be a pretty useful tool for me since I have a decent existing traffic flow.
Are any SEOMoz users using it? If so, what's your take?
-
Isn't it essentially the same thing as using the "find keywords" aspect of SEOMOZ?
-
Thanks, just shot you an email.
-
Thanks for posting, aacook. I'm the owner of HitTail and a long-time seoMOZ member.
Obviously I won't weigh in on the effectiveness of my own service (I know it works!), but did want to let you know that I'm around and you should feel free to contact me if you have questions or run into any issues installing or using the service.
What is the cost of the average post?
Posts are 400 words and cost $19.

Yeah, most of my traffic was already longtail as well so I was interested to see how that would work out. If you already get a lot of longtail traffic you'll probably see what I'm seeing: a ton of keyword suggestions that look similar what you already rank for but is actually different. It's totally worth going after those terms.
Re writing service: I haven't used the blog writing service since I already had a couple of writers that I was working with so I just had them focus on HitTail terms.
-
Ah, okay, so you write articles/posts targeting those keywords. I saw they had a blog writing service. Have you been happy with it? What is the cost of the average post? I assume the writing is similar to https://scripted.com
Most of my traffic is already long tail so I'm curious if it would do anything. I'm going to give it the 30 day trial and I'll be sure to report back here w/ a review.

I decided to sign up for it again. Feel free to message me in a week or two if you want to hear how it's going for me!

Interesting, thanks for the feedback.

Yep, I'm a HitTail user. It's worked great for identifying easy to rank for longtail keywords that I can go after. I'm currently getting about 1,700 monthly uniques based off around 30 articles that were written to target HitTail suggestions. Not a huge amount of traffic but I'm very happy with the results considering what it cost me to have the articles written and that the traffic converts around the same as other organic traffic I'm getting.

I used it years ago. I think it's effectiveness may depend on the niche you're in. I may try it again for one of my sites.

Google Adwords - trying to understand the figures...
Whilst researching keywords I often find the global monthly search on google adwords tool differs, yet the local (UK) is the same (or vice versa) Example: ready mix concrete - global 90,500 & local 18,100 ready mixed concrete - global 60,500 & local 18,100 or forklift truck hire - global 18,100 & local 4,400

forklift truck rental - global 22,200 & local 4,400 I'm making an assumption that for my local country, the phrases ready mix" and "ready mixed" are being treated the same, as are "hire" and "rental" but globally they are not. Am I correct? Of course, they could be two completely separate terms according to Google but coincidentally, have the same search volume. However, I find this happens quite regularly. Anybody shed any light?0 -
SeoMoz Keyword Tool
Hello All, Ive been using the SeoMoz Keyword tool but have a quick question. Im working on a newer site with a DA according to OSE of 35. Im combing through keywords to rank. Although competition is very high I have found a few holes. According to the Keyword tool in SeoMoz a few keywords Im looking at are roughly 50%. Would it be to difficult to rank for this type of term? Ive been using a combination of Google Trends, Adwords keyword tool, and ubersuggest, to try and see whats available. Does anyone use different tools? Thank you

I was wondering if SEOmoz has any tools for finding longtail keywords
Hi all! I'm new to the community and to SEOmoz, so there is definitely a chance I am misusing the already available tools. And I was sure to do a search for "longtail tools" before posting this question. But, does SEOmoz have any available tools for researching and suggesting longtail to target? ...similar to what HubSpots tool does

Google Keyword Tool - Competition - How does it compare to SEOMoz Keyword Difficulty?
Hi, Many times, when I look up a keyword in google using their Keyword Tool, the competition might be low or medium, but, it doesn't seem close to the keyword difficulty on SEOMoz. For example, I looked up fantasy sports. It's low competition on Google. I thought, wow, that's amazing. How can that be when it's so popular? Huge search volume, low competition. Then, SEOMoz says 76% difficulty. It sort of shatters my enthusiasm all of a sudden. Maybe I have to change the order of how I look at it 🙂 What is the difference that's going on? What would be considered low keyword difficulty on SEOMoz? How about medium and high? I know someone might argue that for some guru, what's hard for one person isn't hard for the guru, but, for the average webmaster who does some seo, uses SEOMoz, and some other SEO tools, is there some general breakdown? Thanks.

Trying to avoid Keyword Cannibalization
I have a navigation menu at the top of my page with drop down menus that lead to different pages of my web site. Very typical navigation. If I have a page that is optimized for a particular keyword, lets say "Awesome Blue Widgets", do I want to remove that link from the navigation menu on the page awesome-blue-widgets.htm since the link uses the keyword phrase "Awesome Blue Widgets'?

My site fell off the serps for two keywords I tried to optimize the home page for
I was doing some keyword research about 45 days ago and stumbled across two keywords that I was ranking in the mid hundreds and decided I wanted to see if I could rank them. I went in and changed my title to my blog, and the description. Then about a week later I changed my mind and wanted to go for two other keywords so I changed it again. Then within a day or two, my site completely fell off the serps for those two key words that I changed the title to optimize for. None of my other rankings were effected for any of the other keywords, in fact most of my keywords have risen because of recent backlinking. I thought it was just a temporary google bounce because I was playing with my title of my blog or something, but after almost two months I am still nowhere to be found for words that I should easily at least be in the top 1000, especially because I was at about 150 by accident. Anyone have any ideas on what might have happened? Thanks.
