Directory Naming & File Organization
-
We're redoing an entire site and are going to reorganize, and link to the site's pages by directory instead of page name. So instead of:xyz.com/services/fixingtvs.phpit will be:xyz.com/fixingtvsAt first I was thinking 1 index.php page per directory but that will make content management really confusing with a bunch of files with the same name.Anyone have a better idea? Thanks,Matt

You should be able to do that with a single index.php file in the root folder and mod-rewrite. If you're not sure how to do that, a good developer should be able to help.

Https & http
I have my website (HTTP://thespacecollective.com) marked on Google Webmaster Tools as being the primary domain, as opposed to https. But should all of my on page links be http? For instance, if I click the Home button on my home page it will take the user to http, but if you type in the domain name in the address bar it will take you to https. Could this be causing me problems for SEO?

Round 3 & still no indexing for varicose veins :-(
Greetings from 11 degrees C partly suuny Wetherby 🙂 Every so oftem you hit an SEO mission that just consistently hits a brick wall. For the third time i'm investigating why this page:
Technical SEO | | Nightwing
http://www.collegeofphlebology.com/varicose-veins/what-are-they/ fails to even reach the bottom of page 3. Ive gone back to basic and ran an SEO audit of sorts in an attempt to see if I'd missed anything. Here is the audit: http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc53/zymurgy_bucket/audit-for-moz.jpg So my question is please: From a technical SEO perspective is there anything wrong with this page http://www.collegeofphlebology.com/varicose-veins/what-are-they/ to explain why it does not rank for target term "Varicose Veins" Thanks in advance,

Does Google News Inclusion Affect Organic Rankings?
Hello SEO Gurus, Here's a question I've been unable to find an answer for: if you manage to get a publishing website or blog included in the Google News aggregate, can it negatively affect organic search visibility? I've never read anything that explicitly says so, but I have both read and experienced how e-commerce sites often have difficulty in ranking high for both organic and shopping searches. It seems that Google balances out visibility between the two. Has anyone had any experience with a website or blog that managed to rank high for the same high-value keyword on both organic search and news search? Thanks in advance! Mike

SEO Mox reporting all pages & titles as duplicate, but this is not the case.
HI, I am confused . This week SEOMoz is reporting that all my pages and pages titles are duplicate. This is not the case. I have added geo meta tags to each page - could this be causing the duplicate page content condition? I have no theory about the title duplicate condition. I have uploaded pdfs of these seomoz reports here: http://www.2shared.com/document/JAgS2Ni9/Issue_-Duplicate_Page_Content.html http://www.2shared.com/document/gyXcMsoP/Issue-Duplicate_Page_Title-.html Help please. thanks.

Blocked by meta-robots but there is no robots file
OK, I'm a little frustred here. I've waited a week for the next weekly index to take place after changing the privacy setting in a wordpress website so Google can index, but I still got the same problem. Blocked by meta-robots, no index, no follow. But I do not see a robot file anywhere and the privacy setting in this Wordpress site is set to allow search engines to index this site. Website is www.marketalert.ca What am I missing here? Why can't I index the rest of the website and is there a faster way to test this rather than wait another week just to find out it didn't work again?
