Blog for a Prestashop: WP at subfolder or blog with dedicated keyword based domain?
-
Hi
Scenario 1: site running with prestashop at domain whatever.com There's a blog at a subfolder of domain, running with Wordpress whatever.com/blog
Scenario 2: site running with prestashop at whatever.com. The blog is at a different server and domain with keywords, e.g. cloudtechnology.com
What's better for the blog posts to have better SERP results? Scenario 1 or 2? From the point of view of a user, I have seen for friends and colleagues that scenario 2 works for the blog, and might work for the shop, since blog posts contain links to shop etc. However, all examples I've seen for scenario 1 are still struggling...it's hard for them to make the blog visible at SERPs...is it a coincidence or is there a reason?
Thanks for your answers!

If you go with Scenario 1 you will give your shop domain the following benefits:
-If frequently updated, fresh content (remember: freshness is something Google likes so much)
-Improved internal linking
-All resources in the same domain: products, relevant info, etc.
-Great landing pages
-Posts are more likely to be shared than products, so take advantage of social media to publicize your store through the blog.
One final note: you are planning to build your blog with WordPress. I'm absolutely in love with WordPress, but PrestaShop gives you the chance to use own modules to have this feature. I give you some examples:

Hope it helps.

I would definitely go with scenario 1. Whenever someone links to your blog post it gives you site the authority rather than an external URL. This way you can also build allot of internal links from your posts to your pages or other posts. Also you want people to like your posts from your site/share the posts from your site.
Think about it like this.. If a post was to go viral would you rather thew article be on:

How to redirect my .com/blog to my server folder /blog ?
Hello SEO Moz ! Always hard to post something serious for the 04.01 but anyway let's try ! I'm releasing Joomla websites website.com, website.com/fr, website.com/es and so on. Usually i have the following folders on my server [ROOT]/com [ROOT]/com/fr [ROOT]/com/es However I would like to get the following now (for back up and security purpose). [ROOT]/com [ROOT]/es [ROOT]/fr So now what can I do (I gues .htaccess) to open the folder [ROOT]/es when people clic on website.com/es ? It sounds stupid but I really don't know. I found this on internet but did not answer my needs. .htaccess RewriteEngine On

Base href
I'm having a discussion with a third party that's building a website for a client that I advised concerning his SEO. The site went live 2 weeks ago and it's not getting indexed very well, so my client asked me what could be the problem. I checked several things that could be the problem, like an xml sitemap that was missing etc. But there was another thing that I saw in the source code: <base href="http://www.domain.com/"> Can this be a problem for Google to follow internal links? I always thought that you should use the base href like this: <base href="http://www.domain.com"> so without the trailing / behind the TLD And even better using absolute instead of relative links, no?

Domains
My questions is what to do with old domains we own from a past business. Is it advantages to direct them to the new domain/company or is that going to cause a problem for the new company. They are not in the same industry.

Does a TM in the keyword have effect?
If I include TM in a keyword string, does this make it another keyword or does Google ignore that? Example: Kentucky Hot Sauce vs Kentucky Hot (TM) sauce. Of course the TM would be done properly via ™ Cheers.
