How to redirect home.co.uk to home.co.uk/

Hi, We recently moved to shopify and noticed that our home page is now .co.uk/ (with backslash) instead of .co.uk As both are returning 200 ok I am concerned that this could cause a duplicate content issue. Could anyone please advice on the best way to fix this? Thanks, Paul

I'm pretty sure you don't need to worry about that for duplicate content.

I've never used Shopify but believe they host the website for you. In that case I would ask them to fix this issue for you. Here is .htaccess code to remove trailing slash though:

How do I deal with /mobile/ page after responsive re-design?

Hi guys, One of our clients used to have a website that would redirect mobile traffic to a /mobile/ page. Thankfully we've finally gone fully responsive and there is no need for this /mobile/ page. Trouble is, www.clientsite.com.au**/mobile/** is still in the Google index and going to a 404 right now. What is the best way to deal with it? Should we be 301 redirecting /mobile/ to / (the home page)? Would be most grateful for any ideas. Thanks!

One more redirect question

If there are two URLs like below: example.com/toys/batman-toys
example.com/birthday/batman-toys Both have the exact same everything, except URL key. The first example ranks for all KWs and search terms in the SEs. Does having the second page hurt my ranking potential for the first page? Should I redirect the 2nd page to the first or just leave it? As always, thanks for your help.

Do I need Redirects?

I've recently changed my old static website to a WordPress one. I'd like to know what do do (if anything) about my old links. For example a page on my old site was: www.iainmoran.com/corporate-magician.html - now I'm using WordPress, the url is:
www.iainmoran.com/corporate-magician/ My question is, do I need to set up redirects on these old pages (which no longer exist or will Google eventually re-crawl my site and update the links themselves? I'm using the Yoast SEO Plugin for WP and it creates a sitemap, which of course will have my new pages on. But don't want Google to penalise me for having broken links, etc. Many thanks, Iain.

Expired Domain - http:// or www

I have an old domain - When i use the link explorer i get way more juice out of the www version of my domain. I will be using wordpress to set up a new domain with the same name . My question is - How do I make it proper for seo? Do i just change the http:// to www in wordpress and be done with it? Does it even matter (thinking it does)

Redirecting broken incoming links

I have a number of 404s happening on my site due to other websites incorrectly linking to my content. Perhaps they typed the word wrong, or their software did. Here are some examples from webmaster tools: learn/ingredie.. shop/accessories_and_extras/professional.. lore/idx.php.. learn/step_by_step_instruc shop/prod shop/product lore/email_ As you can see, none of those are actual pages - but truncated URLs of actual pages. Should I find a way to redirect these pages - or let them 404? Thanks!

How can i redirect a url that has % in it?

Google webmaster tools shows a 400 eroor for an old link that contains a 30% off in it. The problem is the % I would like to 301 redirect this link : http://www.geographics.com/Graduation-Stationery,-35%-OFF-Printable-Certificates-Blank-Gift-Certificates/c1353_1354_1359/index.html to http://www.geographics.com/Graduation-Stationery-Printable-Certificates-Blank-Gift-Certificates/c1353_1354_1359/index.html We do not know how to do this in httaccess. Duplicate Homepage: www.mysite.com/ and www.mysite.com/default.aspx

Hi, I have a question regarding our client's site, http://www.outsolve-hr.com/ on ASP.net. Google has indexed both www.outsolve-hr.com/ and www.outsolve-hr.com/default.aspx creating a duplicate content issue. We have added
to the default.aspx page. Now, because www.outsolve-hr.com/ and www.outsolve-hr.com/default.aspx are the same page on the actual backend the code is on the http://www.outsolve-hr.com/ when I view the code from the page loaded in a brower. Is this a problem? Will Google penalize the site for having the rel=canonical on the actual homepage...the canonical url. We cannot do a 301 redirect from www.outsolve-hr.com/default.aspx to www.outsolve-hr.com/ because this causes an infinite loop because on the backend they are the same page. So my question is two-fold: Will Google penalize the site for having the rel=canonical on the actual homepage...the canonical url. Is the rel="canonical" the best solution to fix the duplicate homepage issue on ASP. And lastly, if Google has not indexed duplicate pages, such as https://www.outsolve-hr.com/DEFAULT.aspx, is it a problem that they exist? Thanks in advance for your knowledge and assistance. Amy
