How to redirect home.co.uk to home.co.uk/
-
Hi, We recently moved to shopify and noticed that our home page is now .co.uk/ (with backslash) instead of .co.uk As both are returning 200 ok I am concerned that this could cause a duplicate content issue. Could anyone please advice on the best way to fix this? Thanks, Paul

I'm pretty sure you don't need to worry about that for duplicate content.
I've never used Shopify but believe they host the website for you. In that case I would ask them to fix this issue for you. Here is .htaccess code to remove trailing slash though:
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^(.*)/$ $1 [R,L]

Confused about repeated occurences of URL/essayorg/topic/ showing up as 404 errors in our site logs
Working on a Wordpress website, https://thedoctorwithin.comScanning the site’s 404 errors, I’m seeing a lot of searches for URL/essayorg/topic, coming from Bingbot, as well as other spiders (Google, OpensiteExlorer). We get at least 200 of these irrelevant requests per week. Seems like each topic that follows /essayorg/ is unique. Some include typos: /dissitation/Haven't done a verification to make sure the spiders are who they say they are, yet.Almost seems like there are many links ‘in the wild’ intended for Essay.Org that are being directed towards the site I’m working on.I've considered redirecting any requests for URL/essayorg/ to our sitemap… figuring that might encourage further spidering of actual site content. Is redirection to our sitemap xml file a good idea, or might doing so have unintended consequences? Interested in suggestions about why this might be occurring. Thank you.

When/where is it better to NOFOLLOW
Hello, I have been away from SEO for a while and boy, how things changed... I have a question/concern about implementing nofollows... Should I nofollow repeated internal links?

Should I nofollow internal links at all?
What if a page has too many internal links between top navigation with drop down menus, left column and footer links? OR Should I only use nofollows for outbound links? I am pretty confused and would love some clarification... Thank you very much, Koki0 -
To 301 redirect or not to 301 redirect? duplicate content problem www.domain.com and www.domain.com/en/
Hello, If your website is getting flagged for duplicate content from your main domain www.domain.com and your multilingual english domain www.domain.com/en/ is it wise to 301 redirect the english multilingual website to the main site? Please advise. We've recently installed the joomish component to one of our joomla websites in an effort to streamline a spanish translation of the website. The translation was a success and the new spanish webpages were indexed but unfortunately one of the web developers enabled the english part of the component and some english webpages were also indexed under the multilingual english domain www.domain.com/en/ and that flagged us for duplicate content. I added a 301 redirect to redirect all visitors from the www.domain/en/ webpages to the main www.domain.com/ webpages. But is that the proper way of handling this problem? Please advise.

Redirecting Parked Domain
I just recently switched hosting. We have 3 domains and 1 being the main domain. Right now they are set up as parked domains. Can I redirect the parked domains under my main websites .htaccess file ? I am just worried that good we will get hit for duplicate content, even though technically the content is only on our main domain. right now if I type in my parked domains in Google, they appear in search. The site is all hand coded and not using a CMS.

Geo-Redirection
Our client has two almost identical sites targeting: Australia (www.mysite.com.au) Rest of World (www.mysite.com) Currently they have splash page on www.mysite.com asking users to select: Australia Rest of World (redirects to: www.mysite.com/home) I'm thinking they should get rid of slash page and simply auto detect if user on www.mysite.com is based in Australia and serve a message "Do you want to visit our .com.au site. It's not helped by the fact the .com site appears to get served ahead of .com.au iin australia as both sites are hosted in US. Looking to change this! Thanks in advance for your help!

Advises for redirects
I worked on a website since 2 years now (mainly link building). Now, I need to change the CMS and the hosting company of this website. In order to improve the SEO of this website, I decided to change the URL structure as well, see example here below: Actual situation: http://www.mywebsite.com
Technical SEO | | Tit
http://walla.mywebsite.com/
http://ortak.mywebsite.com/ http://www.mywebsite.com/de
http://walla.mywebsite.com/de
http://ortak.mywebsite.com/de http://www.mywebsite.com/es
http://walla.mywebsite.com/es
http://ortak.mywebsite.com/es Future situation: http://www.mywebsite.com
http://www.mywebsite.com/walla
http://www.mywebsite.com/ortak http://www.mywebsite.com/es
http://www.mywebsite.com/es/walla
http://www.mywebsite.com/es/ortak http://www.mywebsite.com/de
http://www.mywebsite.com/de/walla
http://www.mywebsite.com/de/ortak Since the hosting, the CMS and the URL’s will change, what you recommend me to do in order to keep a maximum of “link juice” to the pages!? How / Where to setup the 301 redirects?0 -
Redirecting a domain
I was setting up a new campaign and received the following error from Roger Robot. "We have detected that the domain www.sitename.com and the domain sitename.com both respond to web requests and do not redirect. Having two "twin" domains that both resolve forces them to battle for SERP positions, making your SEO efforts less effective. We suggest redirecting one, then entering the other here." I know about redirecting a PAGE using 301 Redirects and how to specify the www. canonical in Google webmaster tools, but is there a "DOMAIN" redirect that I'm missing. What would you suggest doing given the error message above. Thanks, Bill Sqnch.jpg
