What is link Schemes?
-
Hello Friends,
Today I am reading about link schemes on http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=66356 there are a several ways how to avoid Google penalties and also talk about the low quality links. But I can't understand about "Low-quality directory or bookmark site links" Is there he talked about low page rank, Alexa or something else?
-
Besides just avoiding low quality links the best thing to do is only do things you would normally to increase brand awareness. Only go for quality links that will drive traffic to your site. They will also help increase your rankings, Link bait is also a great way to get people to link to your site and share your content too. Have you looked into doing some Press Releases if you have news worthy things to talk about or quality guest blogging? They are all good ways that will not get you penalized by google.

I am totally agree with Alan.. In addition of Alan i would like to share my thoughts on "Low-quality directory or bookmark site links". Before the google updates the directory works so most of SEO Companies built lots of categorywise & General Directory & Bookmarking sites so now in market there are lots of directory sites which are not good, in some cases it hurts also. Here is a good post on Analysis of 2,678 Directories Shows 20% Penalized/Banned by Google. Also most of directory site gives nofollow links & also directory dont gives much value in SEO. But yes we can do directory submission on such sites who have good PR & DA like yahoo directory, dmoz, etc. Same with Social Bookmarking.
Here is a good list of Directory & Bookmarking Sites : http://www.seomoz.org/directories. I hope this list would help you.
Hope i answered your question and if you need more help then let me know.

Link schemes come in many forms these days. Low quality directories are directories that are really just out there for people to get links for SEO value, and not really to offer high quality directory value. Same with "bookmarking" sites. Either they're really popular (like Reddit / StumbleUpon) or they're obviously just fake sites built for people to fake off-site SEO authority.
Link schemes can also include other scenarios. Like getting links from a lot of very low quality sites - or even sites that have built some authority over time but are really just there for offering SEO links within crappy content. Or where the content on those sites is so diverse as to cause the site to not have a cohesive topical focus.
And then there's "link wheels" - where one site links to another, and that other site links to a 3rd site, and that's the majority of links at least two of those sites have.

Links in a Flash document
How do I tell if a link in a Flash document is follow or nofollow? Or doesn't it matter? (I just found out that my company placed an advertorial in a Flash publication and I want to make sure it doesn't wind up as a paid, followed link.) Thank you!

Linking domains on the same C Block together
Hey, I have an online store selling dj equipment, sound & light products such as speakers, lasers, decks, pa systems, karaoke systems etc. I just bought a new domain but I registered it under a different name and address (my personal details). And I plan on hosting the website on a seperate server so it has no connection with my eCommerce store. The main purpose of the website will be to review the products I sell, write detailed how to guides for DJ's, party planners, mobile DJ's etc. There will be links on the current ecommerce website (which currently gets around anything from 500 to 1000 unique hits a day) going to the new blog website. But would I be better off keeping it on the same C Block even though they are going to be two very different websites and the blog may not always necessarily be about the products on my ecommerce website and may be products on say eBay, Amazon, etc. (In otherwords, it's going to be it's own website with an unbiased opinion, but the ecommerce site will be linking to it on certain products that are reviewed on there). Any help is appreciated 🙂

Does Domain Mapping Leak Link Juice?
Hi everyone As per previous posts, we are in the process of setting up a new sideline to the business and after taking great advice from you guys, we have bought a new domain - which is fuelsos.co.uk - To save on hosting fees, I have created a subdirectory on our main site at http://lockcity.co.uk/fuelsos/ which is in the process of being mapped to fuelsos.co.uk (will take affect in next 24hrs) My question is, am I leaking link juice from my main site doing this? or should I look at buying seperate hosting? Many thanks, Abi

Penalised due to links?
Hi, Is there a way to tell if a site has been penalised for it's links? Our site dropped last Friday, and we would like to rule out links, as we plan to move the site to our main site and re-direct the links, unless Google would punish the new url due to this. Our old site does not show any warnings for the link, and neither does our Google WM account, the only thing we have to go by is a big drop in SERP. Many thanks. Quime.

Tracking Links Tool
I think someone may be trying to harm my site by adding spammy links so I want to track the links going to my site on a daily basis. Any tool suggestions? Majestic SEO is great for getting an overall picture of my links, but is not updated daily. Thanks!

What Are The Page Linking Options?
Okay, so I'm working with a site that has pretty good domain authority, but the interior pages are not well linked or optimized. So, it ranks for some terms, but everything goes to the home page. So, I'd like to increase the authority of the interior pages. The client is not wild about spreading targeted juice via something like a footer. They also don't like a "Popular Searches" style link list. The objection is that it's not attractive. They currently use cute euphemisms as the linking text, so like "cool stuff" instead of "sheepskin seat covers." In that made up example, they'd like to rank for the latter, but insist on using the former. What about a slide show with alt text/links? Would that increase the authority of those pages in a term-targeted kinda way? Are there other options? Does it matter how prominent those links are, like footers not as good as something higher up the page? They currently use a pull-down kind of thing that still results in some pages having no authority. Do bots use that equally well? Thanks!
