New adsense account request rejected - need help
-
I'm moving my company to Australia, shutting down the US company.
Google said I had to request a new Adsense account, so I did.
They opened the account, I added the same ads, in the same places, and they have rejected my application. What do I do now?
The other account has been open since 2004. They never said a word about this before. After two years of working on improvements, now I'm just about destroyed.
I need some help, because I thought I knew what I was doing, but obviously not!
As usual. their helpful response is no help at all.

How do I request a review of my Adsense Account? who do I contact?
-
Are there any site quality expert around?
Someone with actual experience and not guesses?
This is important to me, I may only have a few days to get this right.
I switched back to the original account, so ads are showing now, but I need to fix and switch back.
The big problem is there is no way to tell what the google testers saw, that they didn't like, or what they thought they saw.
-
Google policy doesn't include external ads in the count of 3.
I have removed the leaderboard, in case that was the problem, but if that was the problem, why didn't they say anything about that leaderboard over the past 5 years, since the google adsense team advised using it?
Where did you see screaming bananas?
-
Alan,
on the subject of Adsense i'm kind of an expert myself by testing everything there is to know.
When you say:
"The press releases (for business readers) have the same two google ads, plus a leaderboard ad (I could remove that, but these were placements advised by google a few years ago)
They also have a single skyscraper ad below the fold and a Chitika ad under the story."
This is your violation if my count is correct:
2 Google ads + leaderboard ad + skyscraper + Chitika ad = 5 ads which is not allowed according to Google policy. I suggest limiting the total amount of ads to 3 on each page. If you use another ad program next to Adsense it still counts as 1. So if you place 2 Google ads and a Chitika ad then you should be fine.
I agree with you that there are a lot of knowledgeable people here. But my experience on this subject is that I found more help on webmasterworld and adsense forum then here. That's just my experience in the matter.
When I look at you site I must admit that I would go for a redesign with less ads and less screaming banana's. Look through you eyelashes and see what jumps out on a page. I would go for a page were less is more. That's just my opinion.
If i interpreted your explanation correctly about the ads then your ad count is too high and lowering that could solve your problem. If not let me know what you meant maybe there is another explanation.

Jarno

Thanks Jarno.
This is an online newspaper, with 3 editors and 200+ writers/journalists and other contributors. We also have contracts with the major press release companies to process and display their press releases.
Obviously, it is not a chat site. It does not and never has encouraged anyone to click ads. It obviously doesn't sell anything illegal.
The stories have two google ads, one in the top left body and one skyscraper.
There is also one skyscraper ad below the fold.
The press releases (for business readers) have the same two google ads, plus a leaderboard ad (I could remove that, but these were placements advised by google a few years ago)
They also have a single skyscraper ad below the fold and a Chitika ad under the story.
I'm not going over to webmaster world - I'm a long-term member of SEOMoz for a reason - there are many highly knowledgeable people here. I just hope they haven't all gone on vacation this week

Alan,
My best guess is that your websites violates their policy. I've had this happens once before without even knowing it (was showing ads next to a landmap and added the text above (click on one of the provinces for more posibilities -> resulted in a penalty for endorsing click trough rates). Every normal person would understand that the click would be at the map and not the ads but still it gotten me banned.
If Google truly suggests (as shown in their e-mail) you need to improve the site. If you're site is truly a chat site and that is not allowed then one way to go is open a new site for another purpose -> request a new adsense account on that website -> allowed -> open a channel for your old site and place ads. It's not the way it should go but it could work.
Have you tried webmasterworld about this? I found some help their on the subject of adsenses in the past.
Another great source is the Google Adsense forum for help.
Look for things around this subject:
the sale or distribution of term papers, or any other content that is illegal, promotes illegal activity, or infringes on the legal rights of others is not allowed.Hope you can sort this out.
Regards
Jarno
p.s. happy holiday (for as far as possible)

I have been targeting one keyword for home page that was ranking between the postilion 6-7 but was never ranking on 1st as there were 2 highly competitive keywords targeted on the same page, I changed the keyword to an internal service page to rank it on 1st, I have optimized the content as well but the home page is still ranking on 11th, how do I get the internal page rank on that keyword

Should we rename and update a page or create a new page entirely?
Hi Moz Peoples! We have a small site with a simple site navigation, with only a few links on the nav bar. We have been doing some work to create a new page, which will eventually replace one of the links on the nav bar. The question we are having is, is it better to rename the existing page and replace its content and then wait for the great indexer to do its thing, or perm delete the page and replace it with the new page and content? Or is this a case where it really makes no difference as long as the redirects are set up correctly?

Should an internal link open in a new tab or in the same window?
Should an internal link open in a new tab or in the same window? Seems like this is an issue that has never had a definitive answer one way or the other. But I couldn't find any recent articles from reliable sources taking a stance and answering this question. Does anyone know if user engagement metrics (time on site, bounce rate, pages per visit) are impacted if a user clicks a link that opens in a new tab? Thanks!

How to 301 redirect, without access to .htaccess and to a new domain
There are few ways to do this and I would like to ask other Mozzers if they have found the best way. We have a site .co.uk and are moving it back to .com. However we do not have any access to the site folders for .co.uk. (We have to move it anyway as our provider is withdrawing their service). We have built our URL 301 redirect file and it is ready to go, but how to impliment it? We can repoint .co.uk to another site, and then redirect all traffic for each URL but this is quite messy, or just forget trying to 301 each page and just rediect the whole site.

the .com has more authority already, but we ready do not want to frustrate visitors who are using a link to reach a product, only to find they hit our homepage and not the product. Your thoughts would be very welcome or other ideas Bruce0 -
Do a bunch of footer internal links help or hurt?
We are an ecommerce site... In days gone by, having a bunch of footer links with your top products / categories was a good idea - as it created a ton of internal links to these products. Now, I am hearing that those links "dilute" the value of our other links on a page - and essentially, there is more harm than good from these. Does anyone know what I am talking about (the olds days) and should we still be doing this? Thanks

Creating New Pages Versus Improving Existing Pages
What are some things to consider or things to evaluate when deciding whether you should focus resources on creating new pages (to cover more related topics) versus improving existing pages (adding more useful information, etc.)?
