Would you guest post on this website?
-
Hi,
What do you think of this website for guest posting - www.forevergeek.com
Now to me I would quite happily give up a guest post to this website, and the reason behind this would be...
DA:63
PA:67
MR:5.6
MT:5.8
And lots of social sharing per post and to me this would be a perfect site to get some exposure on, looks ok as well.
BUT the only thing which would put some doubt in my mind is the PR2, I would assume a site with DA:63 would have a PR4/5.
What are your thoughts on this?
-
It's easy to overcomplicate these things.
- Is it a good site?
- Is it relevant?
- Do they allow anyone to guest post or are the guest posts always quality and relevant?
If it's relevant, quality and visible in search then go for it.
Hope that helps!
Marcus -
I did watch a Matt Cutts vid on this and he said a few interlinking sites is ok, as long as they are relevant.
I didn't really check the sites on the same IP, I do now though.
Thanks Tom.

So I guess the only real indicator of a good site is the engagement from the user - comments/social sharing.
I did notice they offer online marketing as a service so I guess they wouldn't offer that if they didn't know how to build an audience which by the looks of it they do.
Cheers Seb, really helpful.
-
It's quite easy really. If you get a number of blog comments on EDU / High profile sites then that can affect your DA/PA quite dramatically. E.G - http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/links?site=techandscience.com
I'm not sure if Splashpress are a big company but they own a number of new media sites, so they definitely know what they're doing.
-
I wouldn't even worry about DA, MR etc. If there's an engaged audience that's similar to the audience you want to attract for your target site then I'd go for it.
-
You're welcome!
Looks like a good site to me. It's important to check the IP and neighbourhood as getting links from a site that's in a "bad" neighbourhood, ie with sites that are spammy or harmful, can sometimes be detrimental. Also, you would be able to check whether the webmaster has any other similar sites. This usually isn't a problem unless they are linking the sites all together (link-wheel), which is against the Google TOS.
There's a really useful tool that was in beta last time I checked that let's you check all this but the name has gone completely out of my head - it let's you check via IP, adsense account, email used to register the domain, affiliate IDs and more. If anyone can remember it, or if I do, I'll let you know!
-
Thanks Seb,
How would one manipulate DA/PA?
Is Splashpress media a big company? They have maybe 5-6 websites I know of which are all DA:Sweet, I have also noticed their social following on most of the sites are really good, so either they know what they are doing when it comes to online marketing or it's manipulated using something like 'twiends'.
Would all of Splashpress websites be worth getting on then?
Thanks again.
-
Absolutely. Taking a quick look at their backlink profile and the fact that they're part of the Splashpress Media network means that it's a high quality site. I agree with Tom that PR is outdated, although DA/PA can be quite easily manipulated as well.
The site is of a decent quality, most ads are below the fold rather than intrusive. It's a good find!
-
Thanks Tom,
So taking PR out of the equation, you think it's ok?
Do you know of any services which allow you to check sites on the same IP? How comes you think this check is necessary?
Thanks again Tom.
-
In all honesty, I'd completely ignore PR. It's a completely out-dated metric that you should not rely on for link prospecting.
All those other factors you mention, DA, PA, trust and social integration (think G+ authors) are far more important. To add to the list, I'd look at how many sites sit on that IP/neighbourhood and check that there isn't anything dodgy going on with any of them.
Forget PR and go with your gut!

Facebook Share Percentage - On Blog Posts
Hi everyone, I'm trying to find a way to give each post we are creating a quality status. Since bounce rate on this case isn't really a viable option (Blog Behavior) since people could stay 10 mins reading it and then go elsewhere without interacting. I'm looking for a way to focus on facebook sharing, lets say something simple like "Facebook Shares / Sessions" per each blog post, while I can have an idea on my own data, lets say my highest is 4.1% of all people that go to that post end it up sharing it. But I wonder on average what would you consider a good engagement post, what would that percentage might be? Thanks in advance.

What percentage of linking root domains is safe for guest posting
Hello, From what I've been experiencing and learning lately, link building seems to be good only in moderation and content marketing - stellar targeted authoritative content - attracting links and pushing it on social channels seems to be much safer. My question is, high quality guest posting - quality sites with good anchor text profile 3+ PR (hopefully more) and one link back from the body of the content to the home page or an article you're pushing - seems good but only in moderation. For high quality guest posting, what would you recommend our percentage of linking root domains to allocating to guest posting. I'm looking for a safe percentage that will hopefully not get devalued any time soon, and any additional advice on making this a good long term balanced strategy. Thanks.

Same posts on facebook and google+. Is this a problem?
I plan to publish same posts on facebook and google+. As they are in 10 different languages, I would rather not make modifications for facebook and google+ respectively. Do you see any problems with this? Do you think it matters whether I first publish on google+ or first on facebook? Any problem if I publish posts on one social media account which I already published in another social media account for another company of mine some months ago? thanks

Should my small business website link to Yelp?
I'm kind of on the fence about this one. Should I include a social media icon for Yelp on my website? We have great reviews, but so do most of my competitors. I'd like to share my reviews, but I also do not want to send traffic away from my website to another website (Yelp) that lists my competitors. What do you think?

How fast to post content to Google+
If an established publisher gets started on Google+, is it better to post one or two things a day like a real person would, or is it okay to do a "data dump" and post a ton of articles at once? Does it matter if the account is a brand or personal page? Thanks.
