SEOBook RankChecker Works at one location but not another
-
I use SEOBook's RankChecker to do spot checking of keywords for clients or for potential clients. I like the tool quite a bit, but I've noticed that it recently stopped working at our office (instead of rankings, I just get a series of dashes) but works fine from my home computer. I'm thinking that it may have to do with our company's firewall.
Anyone have any thoughts?

Aaron,
Thanks for your response. I have installed what I believe is the latest version (1.8.21). I have tried to turn off Google Instant, although this isn’t as easy as I thought. They removed the ability to turn it off and replaced it with a box where you can check “never show instant results”. Even when you do this, you still see instant results.
I have the delay between queries set to 12 seconds, so I don’t think that is the issue. My next steps will be to check the firewall and then delete my current extensions in Firefox to see if any conflict.

- Do you have the most recent version of the extension installed at your work?
- Have you turned off Google Instant?
- Do Google results render fine, or is there a captcha on them? If captcha, then have you increased the delay between queries?
- It could also be an issue with the Firewall or security software, but these tend to be much less common of issues than issues of having no delay time between searches or there being issues with Google Instant.
- Another issue could be another conflicting extension in Firefox.

Duplicate content when working with makes and models?
Okay, so I am running a store on Shopify at the address https://www.rhinox-group.com. This store is reasonably new, so being updated constantly! The thing that is really annoying me at the moment though, is I am getting errors in the form of duplicate content. This seems to be because we work using the machine make and model, which is obviously imperative, but then we have various products for each machine make and model. Have we got any suggestions on how I can cut down on these errors, as the last thing I want is being penalised by Google for this! Thanks in advance, Josh

What are the benefits to use .bank as a TLD against the locat TLD?
One of my clients is a leading bank in my country and want to switch to .bank TLD from the local one. Does anyone have experience of what are the benefits or drawbacks of the switch? Is it really a trusted domain with all the security benefits they promise or just another low level TLD with chances to get attaced even more often than before?

2 accounts or one
I have accidently made my clients website into 2 websites. originally the site had a wordpress blog.... ie www.xxx.com/blog I gave the blog a name and attached a domain to it by creating a addon domain. So the address is now www.yyy.com instead of /blog The site is for an accommodation provider and the blog is more travel advice and location specific activites and places etc. what i would like to know: 1. Am I better off reverting back to /blog? 2. Am I better off with 2 distinct websites? 3. How would I have a 2nd domain on the blog without chopping my website into 2?. thanks!!!...

CMS Auto Generated Sitemap Work Around?
Hey Moz Community, The Shopify ecommerce platform auto generates xml sitemaps and robots.txt for you. Frustratingly there is no way to augment either of these. If I noindex on a page it will still show up in the site map... Causing inconstancy with the sitemap submitted to GWT. In theory if put the MY version of the sitemap on site and point GWT to MY version.. Would this solve the inconstancy ? Or would Googlebot go in and still crawl the default /sitemap.xml anyway? Any suggestions and insight is greatly appreciated!

Two domains, one unique design?
Hi Mozzers, There are lots of articles on using multiple domains for a company and we all know the story behind that. I have a different question though - I designed and built a really great WordPress theme for my company and it runs on xyz.com and has run on their for well over a year and has decent authority. I would now like to expand my business and offer a different service and I'd like to market the new service on abc.com My question is: If I use unique content on the second domain, but the same WordPress theme, will it have a negative SEO effect on either site? I should mention: I have my reasons for not just using the same domain for both services. I'd love to see what everyone thinks 🙂

Locating 404 Page Errors for Deletion
On my SEOmoz report, there are several 404 pages that I assume need deletion. Yes? When I am looking at my pages from the back-end of WordPress, how do I identify these to delete or fix them? In the list of pages I have created, it is not at all apparent when I click into "edit" the page that any of these are broken pages. I think the 404 pages are urls from pages that I changed the url to be more seo friendly, but they don't really exist. I hope this makes sense - it is baffling to me : ) Thank you for any insight and help with getting these cleared. The errors are listed below from the report. Google caching meta tags from another site?
We have several sites on the same server. On the weekend we relocated some servers, changing IP address. A client has since noticed something freaky with the meta tags. 1. They search for their companyname, and another site from the same server appears in position 1. It is completely unrelated, has never happened before, and the company name is not used in any incoming text links. Eg search for company1 on Google. Company1.com.au appears at position 2, but at position1 is school1.com.au. The words company1 don't appear anywhere on the site. I've analysed all incoming links with a gazillion tools, and can't find any link text of company1, linking to school1. 2. Even more freaky, searching for company1.com.au at Google. The results at Google in position 1 for the last three days has been: Meta Title for school1 (but hovering/clicking actual goes to URL for company1)

Meta Description for school1
URL for company1.com.au Clicking on the cached copy of result1, it shows a cached version of school1 taken on March 18. Today is 29 March. Logically we are trying to get Google to spider both sites again quickly. We've asked the clients to update their home pages. Resubmitted xml sitemaps. Checked the HTTP status codes - both are happily returning 200s. Different cookies. I found another instance on a forum: http://webmasters.stackexchange.com/questions/10578/incorrect-meta-information-in-google Any ideas?0
