Will Moving to a Different Country Hosting Affect my SEO?

Hello Mozzers,
I have a website with the country specific TLD. It's very new (less than a month old) and already started ranking for the main target term (It's #5 as I write this). It's a somewhat exact match domain.
Right now I am on shared hosting and the way in which the site is growing, I think I might need to move to a VPS soon. Right now, I pay extra and chose a shared hosting in my own country. But VPS in my country is very costly. I'd get twice the features if I go with a US hosting provider for the same price.
If I move to a new VPS outside of my country, would it affect my rankings? What do you think?

If the server performance is better and you page speed load times improve then it will help your SEO.
Google no longer requires you to have your site hosted in the same country as your target region.

Big SEO Changes
Firstly, this is quite extensive so thank you to anyone who answers some or all of the below! So this is quite a lengthy ordeal, and I'm going to start by saying that I'm no SEO expert (yet). I've paid for SEO for years and only on the odd occasion has it made any real difference. It has come to the point now where I've spent so much money on SEO over the years with practically no benefit that I can't afford to do it anymore, so I am teaching myself. So, back in July my website was hacked for a total sum of three weeks. My SEO/Hosting company at the time didn't do anything about it, let the hack sit there and didn't even take the site offline. It just so happened that at the time I was changing over to a new site at the time anyway, so I launched the new site (completely different in structure to the old one), did all of the relevant 301 redirects, and my traffic hasn't recovered since. I have gone from around 100-150 daily visits to 0-10. The descriptions, keywords, alt image tags, h1 & 2, meta data, etc. is all much better (a lot of it was empty on the previous site) on the new site than it was on the previous site so I was assuming it would be better, but it isn't. Anyone got any suggestions as to why this might be? Here are some specific questions: Canonical Problem? My site is ecommerce and lists some products in several categories, that has resulted in a high duplicate content rate. Is it expected/accepted by google that this would be the case for an ecommerce website or do I need to sort out some serious canonical urls to fix the issue? The site structure of my website could also be a problem, but I'm not qualified enough to know for sure. If you view a product/sub-category, then remove the category section of that link, the product will still appear. I don't know if this structure is good or not? i.e. if you click both links below, the link will appear all the same. http://thespacecollective.com/space-clothing/nasa-and-space-t-shirts http://thespacecollective.com/nasa-and-space-t-shirts Is this a problem for SEO? Duplicate Product Tag Problem? I have many duplicate product tags appearing on many products, should these be blocked in the robots.txt? i.e. http://thespacecollective.com/space-memorabilia/space-flown/apollo-11-flown-cm-meteorite-acrylic http://thespacecollective.com/space-memorabilia/space-flown/apollo-11-flown Site Code Structure When choosing the template I would use for my website I did not stop to consider if the code was SEO friendly, this on my part was due to my ignorance on the subject. Could the EMD update affect my domain?
My domain is: http://www.freescrabbledictionary.com/ "Scrabble Dictionary" is a huge keyword in my niche where I used to rank top 4. Do you see this domain as possibly being hit by the EMD? My Google Analytics does not show that I was initially hit back in Sept 2012 when it first same out.

What price should you pay for seo services
A friend of mine has a business site and he has said to me that he has been receiving a number of emails with regards to seo services. He is seriously thinking about using a company to help him as he does not have the time to promote his site and get it in the top of the search engines. Last week he asked me what price should he be paying for a small business site and to be honest i could not give him an answer as i have never used a company who deal with seo before. A lot of the emails he has received are from India, and i would like to know what is involved, do they need access inside your site and what price is a good price to pay. Normally i would have told him to learn seo himself but due to the lack of time he has i can understand why he needs a company to help him any help would be good

Does Quantcast interfered with SEO?
Quantcast (http://www.quantcast.com/), a stats program was removed from my clients website because the former SEO consultant said it interefered with his SEO efforts, claiming the google bots weren't reading it right. I have never heard of that before and my client now wants Quantcast back on their website. Has anyone heard of this problem with Quantcast?

Country Specific Domains
Is there any type of "best practice" for country level domains? I run a TLD .com, and have a few country specific domains (.co.uk, .eu, ...). Right now, I'm not doing anything with them. Previously, I had them redirected to the main .com, but didn't want to anger the Google gods with any type of duplicate content, redirects, or anything of that nature. Any suggestions on how to best utalize these domains?

New Forum: SEO considerations.
We're going to add a new forum to our website. We don't anticipate very large volumes of users. I read somewhere in The Art of SEO that forums should be 'built in bbPress'. I'm very much a programming novice so I'm still trying to get to grip with the basics of forums.
