Google Authorship
-
Hey Guys,
I'm trying to setup an Authorship profile for a client of mine and I am not sure if I have done it correctly.
Here is what I did:
- I put my clients blog in the 'Contributor To' section on Google + (https://plus.google.com/u/0/116742052385950982723/about)
- I confirmed my email address on Google +
- I put the Google + profile link at the end of each article
- I put the Google + profile link in my user account inside of WordPress
- One thing im not too sure about is that there is a link to my clients Google + Page (Not Profile) in the footer, will this prevent authorship?
Have I missed anything?
Thanks!

Always welcome :}

Thanks Ayaz!

Thanks a lot!
-
and it is not a correct rel=author link
[Example]([profile_url]?rel=author)
-
Another indicator for authorship is the use of the verified email address used on profile
If this is used, and all other authorship indicators are set up, this can show authorship
hope this helps

Hi Shane,
Thanks for that!
Any idea why my homepage is coming up under authorship?
Also I have included my Google + link at the end of my guest posts, why aren't they included under authorship?
Sample Link:

Your help would be much appreciated!

Hello,
Take a link of the article/page which got the link in bottom as you mentioned,
paste the link here : http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets in this page, and test it. if it verifies then its fine. if not it will show you where the problem is.
Hope that helps

Hi,
Sounds correct, but the best way to make absolutely sure of markup is the rich snippet testing tool as it gives you debuggin hints or tells you if correct.

5. No this should not prevent Authorship - Just make sure you have submitted the author

Hi,
Without looking at the site, it can be a bit difficult to see if you have things set-up correctly.
You mention WordPress. Have you considered using an Authorship Plugin? I know there are many out there and I assume most work just fine.
I believe you can even set-up single person authorship through Yoast's SEO plug-in.

Good or Bad - Google reviews from the one IP?
Hello, our client wants to place an iPad in their foyer where they invite customers to review via Google / Facebook. My concern is that having too many reviews from the same IP (and esp the business' IP) will look suspicious to Google (be it now, or in the future when the algorithm changes). Do you think Google collect the IP's of reviews? Any thoughts?

Google Plus: Personal vs Business Accounts I am Confused!
Hi so I have both accounts set up, I use my business g+ for sign posting my new blog posts & latest news. I have Authorship set up on my Blog and that is working fine. I am personally v much a large part of the brand, www.over50choices.co.uk and have my face on the home page and most social property, so when i do use my G+, FB & Twitter accounts, whilst they are the business accounts, its lead by me. So just what do I use my G+ Persoanl Account for? I have read that i should either share or duplicate the my updates on both accounts, but will that look like duplication? I dont have many G+ followers currently but intend to develop this in the next few months, so its important that I get this right if i am to optimise my activity? Your help appreciated. Ash

How long before we show up in Google+ 7 packs?
Some of our generic, non localized keywords (ex: "Information technology services") are triggering Google+ 7 Pack listings with local results. We are ranking on the first page for those keywords in organic. The companies listed in the 7 packs have worse link profiles, mediocre SEO fundamentals, fewer citations, and no +s or reviews. Our Google+ page has been up for a few weeks, and we added content: images, videos, a detailed profile, and articles. Our competitors have nothing but a blank site. We did our research, and we also built well-optimized pages for each of the keywords that triggers a 7 Pack. Assuming Google decides we deserve to be there, how long should it take for Google to place us in the 7 Packs? Our vertical is a little different - IT Support - the 7 packs are localized within a 40 mile radius, and the organic SERPs are a mix of regional and national (ex: IBM) players. Are the results totally geocentric? Does it pay to build legitimate backlinks to our Google+ page or link there from content on our corporate site?

Can Google index content from within Facebook apps? (photos, events, custom app, etc.)
Hi guys, I've Googled the heck out of this query and I seem to run into very top level answers (and I do apologize if my ignorance is to blame), but is Google able to index content from within Facebook applications such as Photos, Events, and possibly a custom app? If Google is able to better index both Javascript and AJAX, I would assume that the simple answer would be "yes", but since many of these applications don't provide outbound links, tracking traffic and conducting follow up experiments appears to be quite difficult. Since many of us use Facebook as a destination, if we take the time to optimize deeper content by adding detailed captions in pictures or unique descriptions for events, how can we determine that 1. the content is being crawled by search engines and 2. how is that content crawled and disseminated for user consumption on search engines? I appreciate your time and thank you for your insights.

Is my authorship working?
I am not certain if my authorship is working or not. If I go into google incognito, and search for my exact title of a new article, or any of them that are over a week old, then I will see my image and 'by My Name' which tells me its working. When I go to structured data testing tool and I enter the URL, I will get: Authorship Testing Result****Page does not contain authorship markupNow on my webpage NEWS section, it has a 'by My Name' at the top, and if the user clicks it it will bring me to my G+ account. When you go further into an actual article that link no longer works.http://bit.ly/14k8Zys you can see here.So is my authorship working or not? Seems to me it is or I wouldnt find myself when using chrome incognito, but I find it wierd that googles tool is telling me authorship is not working

Should I adopt Google Plus Custom URLs?
Google Plus have just released Custom URLs, see here So instead of the messy https://plus.google.com/b/012345679 you can have http://www.google.com/+{yourbrandname}. This would be much better for memorizing. But any opinions on added or future perceived SEO benefit?

Will Google maintain its search engine power?
Reading through the SEOmoz threads, and also other forums, I can't help but notice that the majority of material covered is about SEO & SERP, white hat & black hat linking, social media blogs and articles, etc, etc. Everyone trying to scramble to the top of their market via Google. If Google brought out a release saying that hopping down the street naked & having a neighbour googling that you had, for improved SERP ratings, would produce a weird downtown scenario. What I am asking, is this: Does Google have too much power in determining to the world what is correct and what is not as a corporation. And are they and what they have a passing phase, or will they lose their dominance like Microsoft etc through technical change?

How fast to post content to Google+
If an established publisher gets started on Google+, is it better to post one or two things a day like a real person would, or is it okay to do a "data dump" and post a ton of articles at once? Does it matter if the account is a brand or personal page? Thanks.
