Please could you have a look, I am worrying about the fact that we lost one of our main ranking keywords from page 1 to page nothing" We did accidently remove the site after a huge blip about 4 months ago and since we upgraded wordpress.. Just seems odd thanks

It's not an error, just a 'crawl notice'. Canonical's can be problematic if used incorrectly though, more information here:

Hi
If I understand your issue correctly you have run a SEOmoz campaign and one of the things it has picked up are 326 Rel canonical issues highlighted in the blue notices section.
If this is correct then you should have nothing to worry about as it is just informing you that the Rel canonical tag has been used 326 times on the site.
The Rel canonical tag is used to indicate to the search engines that you are aware of 2 or more pages with similar content and that they should take more notice of the one you indicate the Canonical tag looks like
This needs to be added to the header of every page that is a copy (or near copy) of the main page you with to promote.
So if you have a number of pages that are similar to each other you want the Rel canonical in place. Some CMS automatically add Rel Canonical tags to every page and this may be what is happening. I am happy to look at the site for you to determine if the Canonical tags are set correctly if that would help.

Anybody having success with Cross-Domain canonical?
Has anyone been using rel="canonical" to attribute content that has been republished on Domain B... back to Domain A, which is the original source? The videos below say that this should be working... I am asking to hear from anyone who has done it. Has it worked as you expected? Did Domain A get the benefit that you expected? Thanks! ========== Source Videos ============= Matt Cutts (April, 2012) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zI6L2N4A0hA Matt Cutts (April, 2010) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8XdFb6LGtM Rand Fishkin (August, 2012) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8drPXudZZc

After I 301 redirect duplicate pages to my rel=canonical page, do I need to add any tags or code to the non canonical pages?
I have many duplicate pages. Some pages have 2-3 duplicates. Most of which have Uppercase and Lowercase paths (generated by Microsoft IIS). Does this implementation of 301 and rel=canonical suffice? Or is there more I could do to optimize the passing of duplicate page link juice to the canonical. THANK YOU!

We have over 3000 duplicate page titles, please help!
Hi, we did a crawl report and have over 3000 duplicate page titles. I'm not sure why this is happening... could it be because we have put posts in multiple categories? Can anyone help us with a quick fix? our site is www.stayathomemum.com.au thank you kindly, Chris

Will rel canonical tags remove previously indexed URLs?
Hello, 7 days ago, we implemented canonical tags to resolve duplicate content issues that had been caused by URL parameters. These "duplicate content" had already been indexed. Now that the URLs have rel canonical tags in place, will Google automatically remove from its index the other URLs with the URL parameters? I ask because we have been tracking the approximate number of URLs indexed by doing a site: search in Google, and we have barely noticed a decrease in URLs indexed. Thanks.

Rel=Canonical, WWW vs non WWW and SEO
Okay so I'm a bit of a loss here. For what ever reason just about every single Wordpress site I has will turn www.mysite.com into mysite.com in the browser bar. I assume this is the rel=canonical tag at work, there are no 301s on my site. When I use the Open Site Explorer and type in www.mysite.com it shows a domain authority of around 40 and a few hundred backlinks... and then I get the message. Oh Hey! It looks like that URL redirects to XXXXXX. Would you like to see data for <a class="clickable redirects">that URL instead</a>? So if I click to see this data instead I have less than half of that domain authority and about 2 backlinks. *** Does this make a difference SEO wise? Should my non WWW be redirecting to my WWW instead because that's where the domain authority and backlinks are? Why am I getting two different domain authority and backlink counts if they are essentially the same? Or am I wrong and all that link juice and authority passes just the same?

Hi can anyone help me. I am trying to track information from sites. I am at the moment got solicitiors involved ref trade mark of a name and we are trying to prove that this name was being used before the trade mark application. A company has gone ahead with a trade mark in full knowledge that this is a common name and we have been told if we can prove that the name was being used before it was registered then we can knock out the trade mark. We have been told there is an internet archive but i cannot find one, can anyone please let me know how i can look at sites from before 2010 and see about if they were using this word to help our case.

Rel=Canonical to Rewrite or original URL?
Working with a large number of duplicate pages due to different views of products. Rewriting URLs for the most linked page. Should rel=canonical point to the rewritten URL or the actual URL? Is there a way to see what the rewritten URL is within the crawl data? I was taking the approach of rewriting only the base version of each page and then using a rel=canonical on the duplicate pages. Can anyone recommend a better or cleaner approach? Haven't seen too many articles on retail SEO when faced with a less than optimized CMS. Thanks!
