Blog is outranking my root domain - Why and Help
-
I have an odd question concerning SERP rankings on Google along with PageRank and Google Trust. I have a website created in HTML with a WP blog created in a sub-directory. I am finding that the blog is getting relatively good rankings yet it seems the root domain is not getting any of the rank or trust passed onto it as it consistently is outranked by the blog.
In fact, for a few of our targeted keywords the root domain does not even show up at all, yet the blog does.
Our blog is #2 in Google SERPs, a top Google Place ranking, a Youtube video in the top 10 and a Google Ad place somewhere in the mix of first page ads. The root domain is nowhere to be found.
Is there something I need to correct either on the site, in Google Webmaster or in WP Settings that I am not aware that is pushing all the Google Rank and Trust to the blog instead of the other way around?
I considered changing the WP Site URL to the root domain thinking it will pass more SEO mojo to the root. But I don't think this is the way to go.
I am kind of at a loss, any help is appreciated.

It looks that blog is helping your company to get search visibility for some keywords. If blog is not there, you may not have any search presence for these keywords.
As a first step, I would recommend you to provide main site page links on the related blog post with the appropriate anchor texts. These links should not be footer links or banner links. Think something like "related service ......".
Next step would be comparing back links of blog pages with your main site page for identifying the missed opportunities.
Hope this will help. All the best..

New domain wipes out domain authority
A client wanted to change their domain name, which we have now done. The site content itself is exactly the same. We put 301 redirect links in so that Google searchers would redirect from the old site to the new one. However Moz then said that it couldn't crawl the old domain because of the redirects and advised creating a brand new campaign for the new domain. We have done this but now Moz says that the domain authority of the new site is 2 (it was 14 on the old domain). Specifics are:

old domain: https://ryemeadcleaning.co.uk
new domain: https://ryemeadgroup.co.uk So basically it seems like we're starting again from scratch with the new domain and all the SEO from the old domain has been lost? Have we done it wrong?0 -
Ranking dropped after domain change
Dear Moz Community, first of all excuse my bad english, i am from europe and my english is not the best 😉

I use Moz Analytics for several days and try to figure out why our "main keyword" totally dropped after our domain change. We started this year with a new company name and a new domain. Our old domain was dp-hochzeitsfotograf.de and the main keyword we try to rank for was "hochzeitsfotograf" which means "wedding photographer" here in Germany. Last summer we reached position 1 and short before our domain change we still ranked on position 6. We register the domain change in google webmaster tools and redirect all urls via 301 redirect to the new domain. Our new domain name is yourheyday.de and all rankings adopted pretty good except our main keyword (now position 62) which could break our neck the next few month. I would be so so happy and really appreciate if anyone of you have an advise for us. Thanks and many greetings from europe

Redirecting a questionable domain to a trusted domain
I have a question!
Technical SEO | | FDFPres
We have 2 domains operating within the same retail sector. One of them is for our bricks and mortar business and the other is a new brand we launched as a nationwide e-retailer. We aggressively built links for the new one and achieved some very good search positioning, where we remained for about 4 months until the google updates of the first half of this year started biting. The domain never received a warning from google or anything, but the links have clearly been devalued to a point where the domain is now virtually buried for the most competitive terms. However, the domain does still get around 100-200 visitors per day, and has a DA of 38. We're thinking about a reshuffle that would involve putting the products in to our brick and mortar business website, and redirecting the brand domain to the bricks and mortar domain. Thank you for reading this far! the question is then, is there a danger of the bricks and mortar domain being tarnished by this? as i said the brand domain hasn't had any notices of penalty from google but it has definitely been hit by updates.0 -
Searching on root domain words = ranking on > page 10 in SERP
Hello, Our website wingmancondoms.com (a new condom brand) is not ranking in Google on the keywords "wingman condom", and I don't know why. In Yahoo and Bing everything is allright. I saw on this forum that it is maybe best to change my language URL's to wingmancondoms.com/nl /de and /fr instead of a direct URL like http://www.wingmancondoms.com/wingman-kondome (german translation). But is this our problem or are there more problems. Google is indexing our page well, no errors etc. Any other possibilities?

Preferred domain registrar AU
I need to register a domain in Australia. Does anybody have a trusted domain registrar I can go to? The person in our Australian office gave me a list of registrars she found where she can purchase the domain, but I wanted to see if anyone here had recommendations.

Guest Blog Posts and PR
Let's say I do a guest blog post on a PR5 site. Let's also say the post is deep within the site, and the page rank that flows to it is only maybe PR1 or 2. Let's also say it doesn't get many links to it so it forever stays that way. Will Google realize even though the PR of that page is low, it's on a PR5 site, thus giving it more link power than it the overall site were a PR2 site? Did that make any sense?
