Confused on setting up my domain in a campaign
-
I have a website that is www.example.com. When I first setup my campaign in SEOMoz, I missed the instructions that stated I need to set up my domain as it appeared in the browser. Thus, I set it up as example.com. When I realized my mistake, I setup a second campaign as www.example.com and am running them side by side to see the differences.
My question has to do with the best setup. I have a blog that is a subdomain as blog.example.com. It appears that the www.example.com campaign is not crawling the blog pages but example.com is.
Are there any downsides in setting up this campaign as example.com? I have a number of other sites with the same issue so would like to get this resolved before I setup the additional sites.
Thanks for any assistance or insights into ways I may be "shooting myself in the foot" with the wrong domain structure in my campaign settings.

Hi rfwood! This is Megan from SEOmoz. From what you've written in your question, it sounds like example.com would be your best bet. By setting up a campaign as a root domain, we'll be able to track all of your subdomains, including blog.example.com.
Hope this helps! If you have any other questions, please let me know!

Thanks Daniel for pointing me to the post. Cyrus's recommendation was to setup two campaigns. Unfortunately, I am dealing with 6 sites we own and over 100 that we have built and provide assistance to. So setting up 2 campaigns for each URL would not be a good solution for us.
So my question would remain...with our domain structure of www.example.com and blog.example.com is there one best way to setup only one campaign (take up 1 slot)?
BTW, as I mentioned in my original question, I currently am running two campaigns as an experiment (www.example.com and example.com). The first (with www) has had 13,286 pages crawled and the one without www 13,263. So there does appear to be some "downside" to leaving off the www. However, it is very important that we include our blog(s) in the results.
Thanks Daniel for taking the time to get me started in the right direction on this issue.

Rather then re-invent the wheel, I just came across the following post that had a good solution to campaign set-up. Hats off to Cyrus Shepard
Hope it helps.

Domain Authority Droped 4 Points
Hi there, After the Last Mozscape index update: 08/27/2013Our DA along with all our competitors DA has dropped 4 points, Is there any reason for this ?Have others seen the same thing? Any suggestions of building DA again fast ? The owner of the company gets the reports from Moz and it really doesn't look good. Is it expected to bounce back ?

Please set somethings straight
as a recent majesticSEO subscriber, I feel like i have either been mislead or something isn't right. For some reason I was thinking it was best to have a single link from a single domain, and that by have too many links from a single domain (backlinks) the ratio between referring domains and backlinks was a factor in pagerank. In domain analysis here, it would seem that is not that case as it puts a nice big green check mark by the person with most links, whether they are from 1 domain or multiple domains. Is this a good thing? Here's an easy example. I am a website designer, and I have the ability to link to my website in the footer of every website I design either by image or by text. If I do that, obviously I would have a link from every page on the site, but only from one root domain. Is this a good thing or a bad thing. My work around is to have a link in the footer that looks like this "website design by homecutcreative.com" that links to an internal page that has one link to my site, therefore keeping my referring domain : backlink ratio to a 1 which I was under the assumption was the best possible situation. Thanks for your help.

Why do the competitive link analysis numbers not match the domain analysis?
There is only one area that our competitor out ranks us and that is in the total links on the root domain. But when i go to competitive link analysis we have more links then they do. Any ideas?

How Tro transfer Keywords from one campaign to the other
I have defined a list of keywords (along with labels) in a campaign that I no longer use. I would like to use the same keywords along with the brands and labels in a new campaign . Is there an automated way to do this ? Or do I have to do it manually one after the other ?

In the middle of Link Building campaign! Do you think Dog Blogs are a good Idea?
Hello Again, Here's I thing, my main website is my Digital Web Agency www.FenwayMedia.co.uk but I also hold good affinity with dog lovers on Facebook over 2100 friends and have a website www.Sepperro.com dedicated to my kennel of 9 racing Siberian huskies. In return I would give them exposure to my dog mediums (articles, links etc.) My only slight concern was relevance. However my thinkning is that as a Digital Agency surely you would be expected to have links coming from all sorts of sources as you "may" have had some input into the development of their site/ marketing etc. What do you guys think? Thank you once again. Kind Regards, Craig

Canonical Confusion
Hey guys, I'm having a hard time grasping canonical links and the warnings I'm getting on my report card. I'm using Yoast SEO Plug-In and can see that every page on my site has a canonical reference to the URL of the page I'm at. Can someone please enlighten me on this subject. I'm reading everything I can about Canonicalization (honestly...an easier word please) but I does not make sense yet. Thanks! I added the notice I'm getting on my report card. This is my domain http://bbguard.com.ve swG7x.png
