SEO Master accounts?
-
We just got off the phone with our current SEO/ SEM provider and was shocked to hear that we are essentially renting the FB pages and Google + pages we paid them to create for our 100+ locations. We were told that all the pages have been created under a "Master SEO" account and we would immediately lose any juice from these pages if they are not under their account. He claimed the pages were given their rankings because the account they are associated with vs. the actual SEO done.
Can anyone shed some light on this claim. I have never heard of such a thing.

Hi Mike,
Long story, short. I started monitoring the pages because the provider had a really strange answer when we asked them what sort of "maintenance" was being done each month on our FB pages and Google+ pages when we didn't see the content change.
We were told that they were optimizing the pages each month to rank well on SERPS and it was all backend-not visible, but required high level of expertise.
Well, I have been monitoring the pages for 2 months now and nothing has changed with the exception of the cover photo that we provided. They said the account used to create the pages had some sort of special authority (ranking juice) that gave them better results than the average user. I think it is BS too. It is starting to feel like I need to be an expert in order to keep this "expert provider" honest.
Thanks for taking the time to comment!

Hi Anthony,
The pages rank on 1st page if you enter the specific long tail keywords that are part of the name the provider used to name each FB page.
I am by no stretch an expert at SEO, but it seems to be the reasons these pages rank because of Facebook and the page title. There is zero useful content posted and the provider insisted it was unnecessary for SEO purposes. Another red flag?
The provider flat out said all the FB pages they created would drop off the SERPS in two days if they give us control.
I agree that we need to shop for a new provider. Thanks for the input!

Facebook pages and G+ pages can both be transferred over (just create new admins). Also- I'm not even sure what "losing juice from these pages" even means. Do the pages rank well? Have a lot of followers? None of those things would change if they gave you control.
Sounds like you need to shop around for a new provider. You don't want to pay a company long-term that is in it for themselves over a company that is in it for you.

That sounds to me like they're holding your accounts hostage and/or telling you that your pages are being linked to as part of a linking scheme under their control which would no longer point said links to your social pages if you left them. You should definitely have them elaborate a little further on what a "Master SEO account" is because it sounds like BS.

Deleting Poor Performing Social Media Accounts for Businesses?
I'm the Internet Marketing Manager for an ad agency and in charge of not only our social media and SEO but advising and hooking up clients with successful campaigns. I've taken the liberty of signing us up for almost every major social media account. Some are very successful (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, LinkedIn, Vimeo is ok (we use it over YouTube), Vine is picking up) and others are very not doing well (Flickr, Foursquare, YouTube really is low, Google+ is very mediocre). I’ve been wondering if it would be more beneficial to just delete certain accounts. I think I need to keep Google+ (Google values it and we are not doing terribly on it) but all the others listed in the bad column I think are really cancerous to our SEO (and make us look bad b/c we are doing poorly on them) but I really don’t know. I used them kind of to see if they would work for us and to demonstrate that we knew what we were doing in these social networks, but I think they may be doing us more harm than good both from a PR standpoint and SEO. Doesn't it hurt your website for Google to see poor performing social media accounts, just as the opposite would be true (good sm accounts and mention/activity would give you klout & SEO...)? What do you think? I'm no novice but no master either. Love this forum. Thanks in advance.

SEO difference between having a Google+ Brand and Google+ Business page?
Functionally the Google+ Brand and Business pages seem to be exactly the same, but does having one or the other have an effect on SEO? Is it better to have both?

Facebooking and Liking - Whis is best SEO practice for Rankings
Hi everyone! , i am a rookie with SEO. I have a very specific question for which i would love to hear your opinions on this. I have a facebook fan page about my company. We try to post quality stuff in regard to the industry we are in. However, we are social people, and i have seen improvements whenever we post more "social" topics such as TGIF, Photos, DIY themes. My question is (Actually two questions) : Is there a direct correlation or metric between rankings and "likes", the size of your facebook community ? If so, which has more power or effect on rankings. Facebook Likes generated from your website , or General Likes of posts within your existing community. Hope to hear from ya! Every advice is good advice. Regards Jesus D Aceromart

Facebook Account Architectures (Pages, Groups, etc)
I'm looking for help with how to setup/manage a community on Facebook. Here is the scenario: You have a bike store owner. Out of the store he also organizes different biking training groups, for people who want to be able to meet certain personal goals. These groups like to interact with the other members inside their groups, but not across groups. Does the following architecture make sense? The business would have 1 Company Page. Then for for various different training groups, the company admin would create Facebook 'Groups' which allow for interaction amongst members that way. Does that make sense? Or is there a smarter way to do this? It seems like this isn't very unified, because there could be a bunch of different groups. Is there a way to set this up inside the business' page itself? Any other thoughts?

Will a blog at mydomain.com/v/blog help SEO?
Volusion doesn't allow messing with the main directory so I could only put a page at /v/blog. They do allow you to set up a 301 redirect so I had set up a 301 redirect from www.mydomain.com/blog to www.mydomain.com/v/blog. Is it worth starting a blog like this for SEO? Thanks
