Would love a second opinion
-
Hi Mozzers, i have been tirelessly working on our site www.palicomp.co.uk for the past few months auditing and fixing what we can, we have recently recovered from a mind bending google panda penalty, but i would really love a second quick glance from another mozzer to see if theres anything glaringly obvious that we have missed onpage or looks wrong if anyone has 2 minutes of time to give
-
Hi Chris, yes i have been recommending a move from this old version of cubecart for four months, no avail :(.
However the isse of noindexing is not really down to cubecart, its down to product listing managers copying data from other sources and not having the time to update it, as we sell our own products and they are not branded, the noindex issue on products is not a huge issue but i agree we are definately missing our on long tails!
-
If you've had to noindex your products I would seriously be looking at ditching Cubecart.
-
Thanks Sebastian, yes that is on our list, our system (cubecart) is the bane of my life and this filtered search is tough to canonical properly we have had to noindex all our products because of the amount of dupes in information on components.
-
Quickly glancing over it. I'd recommend looking at your canonical tags on your search results / categories within the sidebar.
I understand that you're linking to "search results" but if it's one of your main navigation widgets then maybe think about creating proper pages for them?

Canonical :/cat_.html
I'd say you'd be losing out on a lot of long tail searches if those pages aren't readily accessible e.g PC under £500
Aside from that it's looking good.

Is it good practice of keeping all our pages at second level?
While defining the site structure we thought of having all pages at second level only. i.e. domain.com/services domain.com/city domain.com/services-in-city please let us know the pros and cons of having this as architecture.

Google Page Speed Score 91, But 5-8 Seconds to Download URL
Greetings MOZ Community: In Google Analytics under "Site Speed" under "Behavior" our home page has a page speed rank of 91 which I assume is pretty fast. However the "Average Page Load Time" is varies between 5 and 8 seconds, which seems very slow. My developers have made major efforts to optimize the home page URL (www.nyc-officespace-leader.com) for speed. The page has a carousel which I assume may be slowing it down. Is the download speed of this page detrimental to SEO? Or is the favorable Page Speed Score good enough. I am particularly concerned because the most competitive phrases are ranked on the home page. As it stands I am having a lot of difficulty ranking in the top ten for these pages. My concern is that the slow download speed of the home page could be holding back ranking of these terms. If necessary I can always redesign the home page and remove the carousel or reduce the number of listings in the carousel to speed it up. Is this worth investing effort in or is the speed good enough? Thanks, Alan

Need opinion to split the site for speed up the SEO process
We have two versions of our website English and Arabic. Arabic is in a sub-directory www.oncarx.com/ar (Not a Sub Domain). When we started SEO, we found that most of our Articles are plagiarized and contain non-original content. We are almost done with the optimization of our Arabic articles. English site contains too many articles and are not optimized for SEO. For getting good results and speed up the process, which of the following idea is better? We should separate the English and Arabic sites. We should remove most of the articles from English site. If there is any other good option, please let us know.

Finding Cause of Google Demotion (second time around!)
Our website, christnotes.org has historically ranked very well in it's space. We have always been in top 3 positions for daily bible verse related searches. There have been no fluctuations in rankings until it took a hit around September 4th through October 14th with approximately 35% drop in PVs and over 60% drop in traffic from Google. The site fully recovered google traffic mid-Oct. On November 24th the site was once again hit, this time with a 50% drop in pageviews and over 75% drop in traffic from google. Google Analytics Image depicting the two drops attached. When the first drop hit, we checked everything - bad links, broken URLs, page speed, etc. There was a slight increase in page speed so we did a little tweaking and made some improvements (8.36 second page load to 5.5) This time around, I can find no cause and no areas that need fixed to recover our rankings and traffic. Very confused on Google dropping rank then recovering after what looks like a page speed fix and then dropping again a month later. Any suggestions???? KGOgzEm

When you add 10.000 pages that have no real intention to rank in the SERP, should you: "follow, noindex" or disallow the whole directory through robots? What is your opinion?
I just want a second opinion 🙂 The customer don't want to loose any internal linkvalue by vaporizing link value though a big amount of internal links. What would you do?

Leveraging a second valuable domain, which has no content currently.
Hello All, Wow, people answer very quickly, concisely and are well informed. Very impressive. I have a question that may be a little different. I have a current site which ranks well, and has lots of links etc etc.. 1. http://www.symbolphot*.com ** * replace the * with an o**. Key search term for this site: "B*ston Wedding Photographer" The second site i own: 2. B*stonWeddingPhotographer.com is currently empty. I can do whatever i want with this site. I was thinking that since my site is mostly images, i could start a duplicate wordpress blog with the same images, but different page text and alt tags to the same images. Obviously, since 'b*ston wedding photographer" is the phrase i want to rank #1 for, how should i go about leveraging the power of the URL? Do you have alternate suggestions beyond duplicating image content? I don't really see a way around that as it's ultimately the images i'm selling to potential clients. And the last part of my question is, how strong are my chances of ranking #1 for "Bston Wedding Photographer" while publishing good content on Bstonweddingphotographer.com ?
