Metric "Total Links" can somebody explain this metric to me?
-
Dear colleagues,
Who can explain the following to me?
Subdomain metrics - Total links
The total links is huge compared to the sum of internal and external links. I do not understand this metric. Can somebody help me to explain this the metrich "total links" I have to present these metrics to my customer and do not want to have "don't know" as an answer
Thanks,
Alain Nijholt

Hi there! This is Megan from SEOmoz. If you'd like to send the URL you're looking at over to help@seomoz.org, we'd be happy to look at this further so we can try to explain all the numbers.
Thanks!

I guess I would have to know the URL you are referencing to actually verify what exactly you are talking about.
But here is an example of links for a single page on my site:
I have 24 linking root domains with a total of 722 total links to ABCpage on my site.
One of those linking root domains is my domain. I have 331 internal links pointing to ABCpage.
So that leaves almost 400 links left spread across 23 other domains. MANY of these domains have 5+ pages on their websites linking to ABCpage. Other domains of the 23 have a single page linking to ABCpage; however, they may have 3+ links to ABCpage.
You can see links can add up very quickly.
I don't know if this helps or not, but if you are willing to share your website's URL, that would let me or others analyze it if you have any concerns.

Hello Mike,
Thanks for your quick response. Yes I assumed it was all links (int, ext, followed, non followed. But when I count approximately 5 k links and total links says 225 k?
Strange that these figures do not match... Developement? I though SEO MOZ was het best, I have been using it for 5 weeks now.
@Mike, sum up the links from a few analysis and I think these do not match the total links number...
Development? Please help me out...

SEOMoz defines that metric on OpenSiteExplorer.org as, "All links to this page including internal, external, followed, and nofollowed."
So more or less, total links means all possible links.
Hope this helps.
Mike

Moz can't see my link from an external site
Hi, I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this. I've had a followed link created from http://www.dubaisharks.com/ pointing to my website - http://www.yallarugby.com but in the reports it doesn't show that there is a link coming fro this website. The link has been active for a few months now, but still no record of it. Any ideas?

Why does page report still have "Too Many Links" alert?
I'm a new Moz Pro user and see that the on-page optimization report includes "too many links" on page and references the "100 links" guideline that Google no longer endorses: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=l6g5hoBYlf0 Too many links is still an issue in terms of passing link juice, but not much else. Matt Cutts has stated that it is fine to have many internal links in this regard. Please correct me if I am mistaken.

How do Moz tools handle signs for "PHRASE" and [EXACT MATCH] KW queries?
Hello, As some of my projects are in competitive niche markets, I often chase exact match KW to handle with. However, when using 'Moz >> Keyword Difficulty Report' I'm getting SAME Search Volume result - regardless using broad match, phrase or exact match KWs. Have I missed something? Ranking result's and are however different and seems to correspond to different type of KW search ( which type of KW all its. Please share some light on this.

Can not start a SEO MOZ campaign?
I keep getting this message, I have a 301 from my domain to my domain with the www prefix. What's the deal? We have detected that the domain www.photosbykristopher.com and the domain photosbykristopher.com both respond to web requests and do not redirect. Having two "twin" domains that both resolve forces them to battle for SERP positions, making your SEO efforts less effective. We suggest redirecting one, then entering the other here.

Reporting Low internal links to Homepage
I am having a strange problem on one of our websites, I am currently comparing ourselves to our competition as it appears we are underranking. The one difference I can see is that our internal links are very low. They are currently at 22 to the homepage and section pages comapred to our competition which have a few hundred. The size of our site is around 800 pages and they all have a homepage link so I cannot see why it is not reading them. Any help would be appreciated the website url is http://www.trampolinesshop.co.uk/

How are our competitors getting these inbound linking domains?
I'm currently managing SEO for my company's website, and I'm getting into link building for the first time. As part of the process, I'm using Open Site Explorer to see who's linking into our competitor sites, to get a better sense of what's available to us in our particular avenue of e-commerce. However, I'm finding that our competitors are getting inbound links from high-authority sites pretty far afield from selling jewelry - census.gov, parallels.com, warnerbros.com, and others. I try clicking through to these links, but each link starts a download of a file. I've seen .f4v, .7z, and .apk files listed as inbound links to our competitor. How is this happening? Again, I'm new to link building, so there may be a simple answer here, and if so I apologize for asking. However, this seems really strange to me, and a difficult situation to confront.

Where can I view all of the Questions that I have Subscribed to?
I recently asked a question about viewing the questions I have answered already: http://www.seomoz.org/q/where-can-i-view-all-of-the-questions-that-i-have-answered It turns out the link was right under my nose (but it appears a lot of people were having this issue). I'm now having the problem of not being able to see where I can view all the Q&As that I have subscribed to. Again, I may just be missing a link that's right in front of me but it certainly isn't obvious. Any help much appreciated!
