Question about duplicate images used within a single site
-
I understand that using duplicate images across many websites was become an increasingly important duplicate content issue to be aware of.
We have a couple dozen geotargeted landing pages on our site that are designed to promote our services to residents from various locations in our area.
We've created 400+ word pieces of fresh, original content for each page, some of which talks about the specific region in some detail.
However, we have a powerful list of top reasons to choose us that we'd like to use on each page as is, without rewriting them for each page.
We'd like to simply present this bulleted list as an image file on each page to get around any duplicate written copy concerns.
This image would not appear on any other websites but would appear on about two dozen landing pages for a single site.
Is there anything to worry about this strategy from a duplicate content or duplicate image perspective in terms of SEO?

I can see how dupe images it might be an issue if you rely on image search for traffic but likely not in your case. On the other hand, 400 pages with the exact same image...? That is a lot. It seems that you might help yourself if you alter each image with a little copy specific to the page you've put it on and tailor the alt tags so that they're aligned with the image and the geo data for it's specific page.
-
How did you come to understand that. I have never heard any official news of that except from this Roy guy.

I don't think having the bulleted list on every page is a problem. I think if there is enough unique text on each page, that should outweigh the bulleted list.
You might be better off just trying to come up with a few variations of those top reason in your bulleted list... Mix up the words a little, use synonyms, restructure them differently in each page as much as possible, etc.
If you are wondering about images though, try http://wordle.net/ for creating unique images. This probably doesn't apply to your situation right now though.

Off-site company blog linking to company site or blog incorporated into the company site?
Kind of a SEO newbie, so be gentle. I'm a beginner content strategist at a small design firm. Currently, I'm working with a client on a website redesign. Their current website is a single page dud with a page authority of 5. The client has a word press blog with a solid URL name, a domain authority of 100 and page authority of 30. My question is this: would it be better for my client from an SEO perspective to: Re-skin their existing blog and link to the new company website with it, hopefully passing on some of its "Google Juice,"or... Create a new blog on their new website (and maybe do a 301 redirect from the old blog)? Or are there better options that I'm not thinking of? Thanks for whatever help you can give a newbie. I just want to take good care of my client.

Switching site from http to https. Should I do entire site?
Good morning, As many of you have read, Google seems to have confirmed that they will give a small boost to sites with SSL certificates this morning. So my question is, does that mean we have to switch our entire site to https? Even simple information pages and blog posts? Or will we get credit for the https boost as long as the sensitive parts of our site have it? Anybody know? Thanks in advance.

Can hotlinking images from multiple sites be bad for SEO?
Hi, There's a very similar question already being discussed here, but it deals with hotlinking from a single site that is owned by the same person. I'm interested whether hotlinking images from multiple sites can be bad for SEO. The issue is that one of our bloggers has been hotlinking all the images he uses, sometimes there are 3 or 4 images per blog from different domains. We know that hotlinking is frowned upon, but can it affect us in the SERPs? Thanks, James

What is wrong with my site?
I have been working hard for over two months on my sites in seomoz and have seen some nice results in some (www.etraxc.com/ and www-my-etraxc.com for instance. Still I am really frustrated by www.classroomconnection.us/. I cant even get on the first page with the search term "classroom connection." i would love some help on this one. On a related note, does it help to have links to YouTube videos about the content? If so, how do I ensure that this piece is working well for me? Thanks a ton!

Best way to address duplicate news sections within site
A client has a news section at www.clientsite.com/news and also at subdomain.clientsite.com/news. The stories within each section are identical: www.clientsite.com/news/story-11-5-2011 subdomain.clientsite.com/news/story-11-5-2011 What's the best way to avoid a duplicate content issue within the site? A 301 redirect doesn't seem appropriate from the user experience point of view. Is applying a rel=canonical <www.clientsite.com news="" story-a-b-c="">to each story within the subdomain news section the best option? They have 100's of stories, wondering if there might be an easier way?</www.clientsite.com> Also, the news pages list the story headline and the first 3 lines of copy. Do these summaries present duplicate content issues with the full story page? Thank you!
