Where do I post this list of hacked sites?
-
Hey guys,
Fairly new to SEOmoz but loving it so far. I was working on a new clients site a noticed some spammy links added right before the tag. Used Open site explorer to list the domains linking to the url and found nearly 300 unsuspecting domains. Some like heartresearch.com.au which just drives me craaazy, I have already emailed them. Below is the list.
http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/links.html?group=0&page=3&site=www.rhcie.com
Short of emailing every single person can anyone suggest a forum or such that would be helpful for posting this information ? I know it's just a few links but it is frustrating to me and If I can do something about it I would like to.
Thanks in advance.
Jason

As someone who has had several sites hacked, this would be awesome! Unfortunately I'm not personally aware of any such forum.
If the sites are registered with Google Webmaster Tools, Google often does a pretty good job of sending out notices of malware and such.
Oftentimes these links disappear as fast as they appear, as webmasters play wac-a-mole with the spammers. Unfortunately these links can appear on backlink reports like OSE or even Webmaster Tools for months as the web is recalled.
Regardless, I commend you for your helpfulness and generosity in emailing even a single site. The web needs more folks like you!

Another site copied my content word for word. Whats the best way to handle or report this?
I work at CloudHashing and created a Bitcoin 101 and glossary for the site. - https://cloudhashing.com/bitcoin-101 The content was written by my team members and I, so it's all unique content. This site recently popped up and scraped all of our content - http://www.pacifichashing.com/bitcoin-class-101/ (It looks like they are located in Hong Kong- I'm not positive though) How will this affect us and will it benefit their site to copy our content? What's the best way to handle situations like this? Should I report this? If so, how? It sucks to see something my team and I worked really hard on to have it scraped by a competitor. Thanks in advance for any help! -Ryan

Is it still best practice to optimize your site with geographic long tail keywords?
Since Google is tailoring search results to user IP and location, is it still best practice to optimize your site titles etc. with long-tail geographic keywords? For example, instead of optimizing a page for "dentist in West Palm Beach, Florida", search users who are IN West Palm Beach can just search "dentists" and a list of local dentists will be displayed (both in the local listings AND organic search listings). I'd love to see Rand cover this on a Whiteboard Friday!

Conflicting Data with Open Site Explorer & SEO Moz Toolbar
Hi there, Why is my SEOmoz toolbar showing me higher linking root domains than open site explorer? For example, for this site: http://thisisouryear.com/, the linking root domains in SEOMOZ show 1,015 and in open site explorer it says it has 35. I have noticed this for other sites as well. Which one is right? And why are they different?

How to Link build for our site
Hello, A client of mine has a site that gives advice to people. It's moderately competitive. It's a content site. Using Open Site explorer, I looked up competitor's top pages and backlinks, and there were things such as sites that were heavy on directories, sites heavily on editorial mension, sites on juicy topics that I don't want to cover, and the rest was pretty much junk. Just so that you know, I only link build with quality websites that look strong, long term, have a nice design, are high quality, and are not a directory (with a few exceptions) What's the standard way to link build with a site like this? We've got 7 articles of good content that is from me spending hours learning about the subject and using my skills as a life coach. Right now I'm just adding quality content and social media. I am not a top expert in the field, but I'm learning as much as possible. How do we link build?

OSE lists dead links
Going over the link profile of a competitor who gets 5x the traffic we do.... of course frustrated that the majority of their links are spam blogs (full of words but don't communicate anything) and forum profiles. Thanks Google for telling me what not to do, then rewarding my competitor for doing it shamelessly. Question regarding sites listed by Open Site Explorer as linking to said competitor, but that don't even load when I visit their url. Some go to a godaddy parked page, like the domain name expired long ago. Is this simply a limitation of OSE, and can I assume Google has indexed differently and therefore awarding no link juice from these urls?

SEOMoz Pro and Multiple Niche Sites
Currently I have 15 affiliate marketing sites and three blogs which are monetized. My budget dictates the base pro package so may I get some recommendations on how or if I can do analysis over time for all the sites. I ask this because it seems you would set your campaigns for long-term but I imagine you delete/modify/add campaigns to analyze different key words. Thanks for your help.
