Why would so many links be appearing in the source code of this page - but not on the page itself?
-
Hi everyone,
Have a look at the source code of this page:
http://www.daleproaudio.com/c-332-mixers.aspx
Notice the numerous links in the source code that do not appear on the page. Is this cloaking? Or is it a by-product of their use of Nextopia?
Bonus points if anyone knows what platform this site is running on
Thanks!
-
Thanks Don! (and Chris too). I think your guess on the platform is probably correct
I appreciate both of your responses very much!

Looks like its navigation that is not working correctly. This is based on the fact the links that aren't showing are nested inside the navbar.
The jquery file that is being referenced is old (jquery-1.4.2.js) so upgrading that may fix the problem, we are currently at (1.10.2) http://jqueryui.com/download/ .
For the bonus I'm guessing that is a http://www.aspdotnetstorefront.com/default.aspx store.
Good luck,
Don

Thanks Chris. Yes, I thought it looked like navigation too, but it seemed strange that nothing showed on the page.
Anyone else have a take on it?
-
Well, I'm no html expert but it looks like there should be another level of navigation that shows when you flyover an item in the grey dropdown and it's not coded correctly.
-
Sure thing Chris - I am attaching. Also, the "links" to which I am referring appear to be hard coded, beginning at about line 184 in the source code.

Server is IIS 7.0

Not sure I'm seeing what you're seeing Dana. Â What I see looks OK at first glance. Â Can you upload a screenshot?

Google showing different links in SERPs
Google search results are showing my site links in both URLs, "mydomain.com" and "https://mydomain.com". However the one with https is showing a favicon, and the other one is not. So i wanna keep the https one and remove the other one. I went to GSC to submit "mydomain.com" for removal and it said that URL will be deleted in ALL of its variations. So how do i delete the "mydomain.com" links? Should i just index the ones with https again? Would that work? Someone suggested me to do 301 redirect on all pages that are being displayed twice. But i am not sure if i need to do that since i am using squarespace, and both of the links lead to the same page?

Community Discussion - How diverse are your traffic sources, and do you optimize for DuckDuckGo at all?
In a post earlier this week, Roy Hinkis makes the case that SEOs should be focusing on attacking diverse traffic sources and harnessing the potential of social, sites like Twitch.tv and Buzzfeed, and new search engines like DuckDuckGo. Have you had success in diversifying your traffic sources beyond the Big G? What are your thoughts on the up & coming DuckDuckGo, and do you have any personal experiences to share in optimizing for it?

Avvo.com: Are links in the contribution area bad for SEO?
Hello all and thank you for taking the time to read my question. I am struggling with a client of mine. I have done just about everything that I can think of that has worked on other sites. Banging my head up against the wall here. He is VERY active in the contribution area of Avvo.com (answering questions and making guides). His site use to rank very well but now it can't be found at all. One of the things that caught my attention is the way he would leave his citation in his answers for AVVO. He would leave a direct link to his website. Since his rankings have dropped I have advised him to stop. Do you think Google is treating them as spam? His link profile is small >1000 links but half of them are from AVVO I was wondering if anyone else any experience with this? Thanks in advance

Best way to prevent "Duplicate Content" for different links
We are working on job portal domain. As we know jobs going to be expired day by day. I will give you my question by example. Example:Â I have two links [mysite.com/Jobs-In-Cincinnati and mysite.com/Jobs-In-Atlanta]. Before month I had too many jobs on both the links. Jobs were expired one by one after two/three months I don't have any jobs on both the links. So I got same page content on both the links like "please refine search". Google consider these two pages as duplicate content issue. Will you please suggest which is the best way to come out from it? Thanks in advance.

Google crawled "Cross Domain" links. Is this an issue? if yes then how we can remove it?
We have two sites. One site for US (site.com)and another is for India(site.co.in). Redirection is working based on ip address and location. So if I write US(site.com) site link in India location then it will automatically redirect to India site(site.co.in). We have given a link in the header of the site which will be used to open another country site. Example : Currently India site open in my browser so it contain US site link. and US site open in my browser so it contain India site link. We check on google web master and we found back links of cross domains so Is it an issue?

Appearing in Universal Results drops us from Organic Results
Hi all, Has anyone noticed that achieving an appearance in the Universal Results (7 box) forced their previous organic ranking to drop out completely for that keyword? I thought Google would still show us in Universal AND Organic. Is this typical? Here's what happened: Last Week: Ranked no. 6 in standard organic results for specific keyword (but 7 box universal results appear ahead of us between position 3 and 4 and we're not listed) This Week: We added ourselves to Google Places a few weeks ago and this week we suddenly appear in the desirable 7 box Universal result, which is much higher and better ranking - great! But interestingly we notice at the same time our normal organic ranking at no.6 has dropped out completely (-50 in moztool). Is it an either/or for Organic vs. Universal or can you ever keep ranking in both?

Linking within a website advice please
Hi i am working on my site which is a lifestyle magazine and i have been reading about using linking within your own website to help you climb up the search engines. Now i am trying to find out if this is correct information and if so which is the best way to use this. I have an example page below, as stated i am still working on the site and the site will still take me a few more weeks yet. http://www.in2town.co.uk/news/soap-gossip/eastenders-fans-not-happy-over-tanya-plot Now if it is correct that linking from within a site is a good way to climb the search engines, i would like to know how i would do it for this page. I am looking at climbing the search engines for soap gossip and celebrity news. I was thinking should i have a line at the bottom saying something like for all the latest celebrity news visit our site or something like this. any advice would be great
